IELTS Cue Card Sample Answer # Teacher Who Influenced You

Describe a teacher who influenced you in your education.
You should say :
– Where you met him/her?
– What subjects she/he taught you?
– What was special about him or her?

Explain why this person influenced you so much.

Teachers play a very important role in moulding the lives of a child. I consider myself lucky to get several good teachers throughout my academic years. One of the teachers was, Mr. Swatantra Gupta. He was our English and social science teacher in class VII and taught us English in subsequent classes. He was a really good mentor and guided all of us in the right direction.

Initially we thought that he does not know how to teach but later on I realised that not only was his way of teaching unique, it was also effective. In the social science class, he used to make everyone stand up and speak out the lesson. We thought, may be he is lazy enough not to speak for himself, but after few months we realised that it was because of him that our pronunciation and style of speaking had improved.

He used to particularly make me stand up and ask me to read the entire lesson. It was tiring but at the same time, very exciting. He even pushed to take part in different competitions and plays and suggested my name to the principal for the district debate competition.

I think it was his faith in me that I actually started working on my strengths and become more confident.

IELTS Cue Card Sample Answer # Friend

Describe a friend you like to spend time with –
You should say –
– When and how you met?
– How often you see this friend?
– What kind of personality it is?

Why you like to spend time with this particular friend?

The friend I like to spend time with is Vipula. We met six years back, when we were in our senior school. She was a biology major and I was doing my majors in math. But we did had our other classes, i.e. English, physics, chemistry together. We met, by accident, I would say. We had common routes and we shared the same school bus.

In the beginning I didn’t liked her much and our friendship had a quite weird beginning. I remember I lost my parker pen and it was very dear to me and I saw the same pen with her and I though she has stolen my pen. I just went to her seat, took the pen and then told people that she stole my pen. I remember everyone started disliking her, talking less to her. But, some days later I realised that it was actually her pen only and my pen was with my brother. I returned her pen and then told everyone the story and apologised from her.

I think things started becoming normal and people started talking with her and we started chatting because we had the same bus route. Within a month we were good friends and we stopped interacting much with others.
We have been friends since then and she is doing her MBBS now. Because of our busy schedule we don’t often see each other, but we take our time and meet every month.

She is a fantastic person I would say. The best thing that I like about her, is that no matter what problem the world throws at her, she is able to handle them with a smiling face. Rarely, would you find her cribbing about her problems. The reason I spend so much time with her is that she makes life beautiful and without any problems.

IELTS Cue Card Sample Answer # Subject Taught

Describe a subject taught in your school.
You should say –
– What was it and who taught it?
– How was it taught?
– What did you learn from the class?

Explain how it helped you?

The subject I’d like to describe is English that was taught in our school from the very beginning of our school days. Each year a new teacher used to teach us the subject and I have also done various online courses in English. I remember Ms. Pooja, Ms. Sujata, Mr. swatantra and sister rose Charles were among the few teachers who taught us English in different years.

I think we were lucky enough to have great teachers to teach the subject. As of now, I see people taking English as if they can just do it with a night fight. But in our case the teachers made us so engrossed in the subject that we took it seriously. Questions would pop up from any part of the chapter, vocabulary could be any word of the chapter and we had to be thoroughly prepared for it. So, we were not just limited to the back questions or the ones given by the teacher, instead we had to make short questions from the chapter, memorise all the words in the chapter we did not knew meaning. Of course it was tough, but it was fun, I would say. When a chapter that with a play came, we enacted it.

So, I just did not learned English, I was involved it, so I become a good orator, my fear of stage was gone and I remember making great friends. Although it seemed fun at that time, I think all of our class accepts the way English was taught has helped us in our daily lives.

For me, I think the seed of becoming a writer in English was planted in my school.

IELTS Cue Card Sample Answer # Friend

Describe a person who became your friend.
You must say-
Who is the person?
How did you meet?
What made you two become good friends?

Explain how is your friendship now?

I am a sort of a person who does not makes friends, they just become. I mean I won’t be the one taking initiatives or being friendly to others. Owing to this, I have very few friends, but the ones who are my friends remain my friends. It was in the first semester of our college that I met Abhilasha. Although initially we never talked much, it was during the end of the semester that we became friends.

We had to submit presentations of a project that we all worked on, by the end of the semester. We were divided into groups of ten and every one had their co-ordinators. I was pretty much good at making presentations, so I was relaxed and working on something in our lab. It was then, when abhilasha came worried and told the people I was sitting with about her problem. Their group mentor had actually asked them to submit their presentation a day before and she knew nothing about it.

For some reasons, I felt I can help her. So, I took her to my house to make the presentation but my computer was not working so we moved towards her house. We made her presentation and I came back home by 8.
She submitted her presentation and we had the D-day next day. So, I made my presentation that night and we all were good.

I think the fact that I helped her even when my work was incomplete made her my friend or may be our subsequent meetings. But, we have been friends since then and have stood with each other through the thick and thin.
