Plastic waste has become an emerging problem in various states and has caused a lot of damage to human life. It is very common to see plastic after every hundred meters. I explicitly remember last year, my friends and I planned a trip to Goa. We had a lot of fun there and explored some interesting places. Goa is famous for its exquisite beaches and mesmerising sunsets. We went to one of the famous beaches in Goa. The place was truly amazing and had beautiful spots. We were completely lost in admiring the beauty of that place until we noticed a heap of plastic garbage near the beach. It had flies over it, garbage littered everywhere, and a constant pungent smell of rotten and stale food. Undoubtedly, it was a blot on the beauty of that place. The worst part was that animals nearby were consuming it, which could be highly lethal for their health. We decided to give that place a new look and make our trip memorable. We knew it was not a piece of cake, but we couldn’t just get away from that mess. We were filled with firm determination to clean it, so we divided ourselves into two groups, which had different tasks. One group will collect garbage, while the other will clean. Watching us, other tourists initiated joining us, and it became a big hit. We were able to clean the place within an hour. It was not less than a victory for each of us. The localities appreciated her efforts and apologised for the negligence they showed towards that place; they even assured her that from now on they would definitely take care of that place and would be vigilant about it.

I reckon, the ultimate reason why people use plastic is that it is durable, as it takes years to deteriorate since it has a longer lifespan than other alternatives. Another reason why people prefer plastic is because it is cheaper than other options available, for example, jute or paper bags.
Q2. How can we reduce the use of plastic?
There are multiple ways in which we can eliminate plastic consumption; for instance, we can opt for eco-friendly options like Jute bags in place of plastic bags. Apart from this, instead of using plastic containers or bottles, we can switch to steel or aluminium products.
