Dear Sir/Madam,

IELTS WRITING LETTER : The Local council in your city. It has decided to demolish an old historical building to build a software company.

Sample Answer:

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the Local Council’s decision to pull down the old Heritage Centre of Mussoorie.

This building has been a historic landmark of our area for over 150 years. It has a huge collection of paintings and artefacts. Most of them were handcrafted by skilled craftsmen who worked tirelessly for the development of our town. The centre used to be a popular tourist attraction, but because of the negligence of the Local Council it has lost its popularity.

I understand that the building is in a dilapidated state. Certainly, the proposed software company will generate more employment opportunities for people living in this region. Nevertheless, this progress will be at the expense of losing one of the oldest historic landmarks of Mussoorie. Somehow, it seems unacceptable to me.

I believe that the Heritage Centre can be restored and put to good use for the local community. The Council can use it as a community centre or traditional skills learning centre for the locals. As far as the fundraising is concerned, I hope that volunteers would gladly come forward to devote some time for this noble cause. In addition, the Council can contact local companies to donate small funds for preserving this historic building.

I hope that the Local Council of Mussoorie reconsiders its decision of destroying the Heritage Centre and finds a different site for building the software company.

Yours faithfully,

Savan Sharma

IELTS Letter: Request for a new room/dorm

IELTS Letter: Request for a new room/dorm

You should spend about 20 minutes on this task.
You live in a room which you share with another student. You have some problems with your roommate.

Write a letter to the accommodation officer of the college to change your room. In your letter

  • mention the problems you are facing
  • say how these problems are affecting you
  • request for a new room.

You do NOT need to write your own address.

Begin your letter as follows.

Dear Sir/Madam,

You should write at least 150 words.

Sample Answer

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing you to request for a new room in the halls of residence as I am facing problems with my current roommate.

The biggest problem is that I am unable to study or even sleep in my room because my roommate has a lot of friends who visit him every day in the evening. They are quite noisy and bothersome. They listen to loud music and play cards till late night. The room has just become a place of entertainment for him and his friends. Furthermore, he often borrows my personal belongings like backpacks, electronic devices and clothes without asking me. I find it very annoying.

His irresponsible behavior has seriously affected my studies. I used to be a bright student in my school but I got average grades in the first semester. Because of these results, I have lost my confidence. I fear if this situation were to extend for much longer, I would have no option but to change my college altogether. For you see I am a student and cannot afford to live outside college or even have a drastic decline in my studies for that matter.

I have tried to talk with him about this issue, to no avail. And thus I find myself having to report the severity of this predicament and to bring it to your notice. I hope by doing so I might be relocated to a more considerable roommate’s presence or if possible not have a roommate at all. As you are probably aware, next term are the semester examinations. If I am found to be lacking in those, I might be asked to leave this college, which as I mentioned previously would be a harsh circumstance.

I hope to hear from you soon.
Yours faithfully,
Sagar Victor

SAMPLE ANSWER

Dear ………………..

Sample Answer:

Dear Mr Johnson,

I wish to take up your job proposal which you so generously offered to me during our flight to London from Italy on the 12th of March this year. You offered me your business card after hearing my plight for work after my employer fired me due to shortage of money.

I wish to apply to your renowned restaurant chain “Seasonal Secret” as a Sous (second in command) or Senior (lower in command chain) chef.

Formally I have worked for “Pasta Palace” in Italy, Rome as a tournant (general station manager) and saucier (in charge of side dish and main sauces) chef. My previous employment not only granted me work experience but also an insight into the culinary world, its expectations and ethics.

Currently I have expertise in over 53 gourmet dishes, of which most are included on the special menu in your chain. My forte lies in consommé, vegan and meat charcuteries, pappardelle, Italian risotto and a host of other delicacies including beef wellington and turducken. In deserts my pièce de résistance would be baumkuchen, a German delicacy which I am sure you are familiar with. Baked Alaska and pâté feuilletée are also some of my talents. Naturally most of these dishes cannot be prepared on a whim and do require a good amount of preparation time.

I believe I have all the qualities required to become a Sous chef, including the team management and crisis handling abilities which are often overlooked parts of this career path. My educational qualifications include a degree in ‘Culinary Arts’ from St Albus College, Ravenna. For further information regarding my academic background my CV is attached.

I do look forward to hearing from you.

Yours sincerely,

Mark Doupain

parking-facility Best IELTS Band 7 Coaching in Dehradun

Sample Answer

Dear Sir,

I am Liza and I am writing to report the lack of parking facility in our office premises.

I have been working here as a front office executive for almost 3 years. This company is indeed an employee friendly organisation but parking is still a major concern for everyone. Majority of employees prefer private vehicles to commute to work. But, due to no parking space, employees have to use public transport. This is awfully unsafe for the female workers, especially at night.

Moreover, searching for a parking space nearby is a time consuming task for both business clients and employees. As our business is expanding, the number of visitor is also increasing. Hence, the problem of parking is becoming worse day by day

Having no parking zone is a serious problem and this cannot be neglected. Therefore, I would like to suggest some remedial measures to resolve this issue. Firstly, we can provide parking facility on the ground floor of the building by shifting the marketing department to the fifth floor. Alternatively, we can request the municipal corporation to allocate some reserved space for the parking in the nearby area.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours Sincerely

Liza
