Sample Answer

Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing this letter in regards to a Smartphone that I bought from your retail outlet based in west Delhi.
The purchase was made on 13/09/2018 and I was given a bill and warranty card along with the phone. The very next day the screen went blurry and the phone switched off completely. As I spent a huge amount of money on this phone I did not feel like taking any risks and took it back to the store immediately. The technician was not present at that time and I was asked to drop the phone and follow up later.
The reference number for my complaint is B57921 and rather than being informed about the phone, I had to visit the store myself after 5 days to find what’s wrong with it. The services I was offered were quite poor and the technician present there was not able to give a clear explanation about the phone’s faults. They managed to temporarily fix and it broke again the following day. I am not very sure if I want the same phone again. For a company of your size, the services are quite poor and the quality of the handset is not up to the mark.
Can you please issue me a refund for the full amount as I am very disappointed with the services provided by your company.
Yours sincerely,
Pooja Panday

All countries across the globe are witnessing a substantial increase in the weight of their citizens. Declining health and fitness levels are becoming a matter of concern. In this essay, I will discuss the reasons behind this problem and discuss a few measures that can be taken to address this issue.
In earlier days, people used to carry out their daily tasks themselves therefore, had better fitness levels. The current generation, on the other hand, follows an inactive and sedentary lifestyle. In my view, this change in the lifestyle is the major cause of the problem. In addition, people these days prefer to use different forms of transportation, rather than walking as it is more convenient and is less time consuming.
Furthermore, physical activities such as running, cycling etc have become less common and more of a hobby. Another major reason is the change in the eating habits. Today’s generation prefers to have unhealthy and fatty fast food over a proper nutritious meal. The rapid rise in the popularity of fast food joints such as Mc Donalds, KFC, Burger king etc is a telling example of how people ignore their health and well being just to satisfy their taste buds.
To recommend a few ways, the government should advertise the harmful effects of junk food and impose heavy taxes on the sale of fast food. Bicycle stands and separate cycle lanes should be constructed in different parts of every city across the globe to promote cycling. The governing bodies and local councils should encourage people to use bicycles as it is less harmful and it has health benefits too .Research has shown that such initiatives are very successful. Amsterdam is an ideal example of such a city that has integrated cycling as a major mode of transport for its inhabitants. Due to these measures less than 10 percent of its population is obese.
To sum up, the sedentary and inactive lifestyle of today’s youth and poor diet are the major reasons as to why, people are not as fit as they used to be. The need of the hour is to run advertisements about fitness and make people aware about the ill effects of obesity. (365 Words)

IELTS Essay # Reading entertainment books

IELTS Essay # Reading entertainment books

You should spend about 40 minutes on this task.
Write at least 250 words. Write on the following topic:

Some parents believe that children should not waste time by reading entertainment books, but instead they should spend time to read educational books only. What is your opinion about this?

IELTS ESSAY # READING ENTERTAINMENT BOOKS, IELTS BAND7, DEHRADUN

Sample Answer

Growing up we have several forms of entertainment and books are an integral part of them. The fact is that kids nowadays are occupied with academics and rarely get time to read other forms of books such as comics, story books etc. Few parents insist that rather than wasting time on children books kids should only read educational books. I, wholeheartedly disagree with this statement and in this essay, I will support my arguments with examples.
Firstly, kids already have a huge burden of school education and in their leisure time they should be allowed to read whatever is apt according to them. Secondly, confining them to a certain type of books will hamper their mental growth. Hence, this can even affect their thought process and it may become very one dimensional. This can have long term implications on their behaviour too.
Finally, childhood is one of the most important phases of one’s life and pressurizing tender minds into one direction is abhorrent to me. Entertainment books not only amuse the kids but teach lifelong lessons. For example, simple story books give moral values on the basic principles of life. Being thankful in life for what we have or treating everyone with respect are some of the lessons I can recall from my own storybooks when I was a kid. Not to mention, how reading books for fun can influence a child’s ability to be more imaginative.
To sum up, by making a child read a particular kind of book we will be hindering their progress. It can have both long and short term psychological effects. We need to discourage such practices for the betterment of younger generation. (278 Words)

IELTS Essay #Developing soft skills is more important

IELTS Essay #getting experience and developing soft skills is more important.

Completing university education is thought by some to be the best way to get a good job. On the other hand, some people think that getting experience and developing soft skills is more important. Discuss both sides and give your opinion.

IELTS ESSAY #DEVELOPING SOFT SKILLS IS MORE IMPORTANT, ieltsband7 dehradun

Sample Answer

University education is one of the most important elements of an individual’s life. It is not just a learning process, it is a critical component of human development worldwide. Going to an educational institute and getting a degree is considered to be the best way by some for having a good job and a prosperous life. There are others, who contradict this statement and believe that getting some sort of practical experience and investing your time in learning a skill is worthier. In this essay, I will analyse both these views and give my opinion.
On one hand, the supporters of tertiary education may argue that spending money on higher education has many tangible (real and not imaginary) and intangible (to give an exact value) benefits. An educated person has wide range of opportunities as compared to a skilled person moreover, an educated person is able to choose his own career path as compared to a skilled person who is more dependent upon physical labour. Most of the universities across the world have courses and degrees that are universally recognisable, so one has chances of moving abroad for better opportunities
In the same way, developing skills is also a major component as not always does a university degree prove to be worthy of its cost and time spend on it. Various studies have shown that 30 percent of the students drop out in the second year of their course as they believe they were never sure about education. Unemployment among university degree holders is rising at a rapid rate and due to economic slowdown most of the companies are making their employees redundant. The cost of a university degree is very high and most people in developing countries often take loans to complete their higher education. Not to mention the additional burden of fees that families have to bear.
In the end, after looking at both the sides, I do believe that developing soft skills does have some advantages over university education in the short run but in the long run benefits of university education certainly outweigh minor drawbacks such as cost and unemployment. (354 Words)
