IELTS Essay # more people choose to live on their own

IELTS Essay more people choose to live on their own

In modern societies, more and more people choose to live on their own.
What are the reasons people choose to do this?
Is it a positive or negative trend?

Sample Answer

In today’s world people are more likely to live alone as they feel independent in doing so. The concept of joint family had plummeted in this modern world. In my point of view this is a negative trend which can lead to isolation and also create problems later in life.

There are different reasons why people choose to live on their own. One reason can be that it offers people liberating experiences of life. They can live their life completely on their own terms without any interruptions. This type of independence is not possible when they are living with a family or a partner. There are no restrictions when people live alone, they can do whatever they want to.
Another reason can be that people want to be self reliant, they don’t want to be financially or emotionally dependent on someone. They want to bear their own experience and be confident about life.

Living alone is having a negative impact on the future generations. There are serious problems arising from this trend such as depression. For instance, people are spending majority of their time alone at home and lack social values. Such kind of isolation is not healthy and can sometimes lead to depression and anxiety. Apart from this, there are day to day problems that occurs in one’s life when they live alone. Such as, there is no one to help while doing daily chores, it has to be done alone. Also there is lack of safety when an individual lives alone.

In conclusion, although it has become more popular among young generation to live alone, it is complicating the idea socialisation. It is creating a dis balance in the social construct hence it should not be encouraged. (289 words)

IELTS Essay – Extra classes for children after school

IELTS Academic Writing Task 2. Essay – Extra classes for children after school

You should spend about 40 minutes on this task.

Write about the following topic:

Many parents today organize extra classes for their children after school and at the weekends.

Do you feel that this is worthwhile thing to do or do you feel children have enough education at school?

Sample Answer

Over the past few years, people have become used to the idea of extra classes. Nonetheless, the effectiveness of this practice is a matter of debate. While some assert that it puts a burden on a student’s life, I think that these classes can be highly beneficial.

To begin with, extra classes are more personalized and problem-specific for the students. Children have the freedom to discuss complicated questions with the teacher which is not possible in a formal class as the teacher is under the pressure of completing the syllabus. What is more, teachers can give full attention in one-to-one sessions. Students, therefore gain a piece of in-depth knowledge about the topics. It also encourages students to do group study which enhances their team spirit. Supplementary classes can also help the students to revise what they have learnt in schools. Such classes improve and enhance the knowledge of a student as they can get immediate solutions from the teacher which is not possible in self-study.

On the contrary, extra classes can be an unnecessary burden on children. Not every student requires extra attention. When students are forced to attend extra classes they become uncomfortable and lose their interest and attention in regular classes. What is more, every student is unique and has different needs apart from academic. Extra classes will waste the time that can be utilized in games, competitions or developing other important life skills.

Overall, in my opinion, extra classes are an effective approach to enhance students’ academic performance. However, parents should understand the needs of their children and focus on their overall development. (270 Words)

IELTS Writing Task Horizontal and vertical cities With industrialization came urbanisation meaning the formation and development of Metropolitan cities.

Sample Answer

With industrialization came urbanisation meaning the formation and development of Metropolitan cities.   These mega cities tended to grow at rapid paces, sometimes vertically and sometimes horizontally. Depending on the authorities and the level of development at the time, there developed vast differences between the two.

The first type of city, the horizontal city, was usually found under rich and liberal governments housing individual cottages with wide lanes and private gardens. Today these cities, also referred to as garden cities, are spread out on a vast area of land usually in sparsely populated expanses.  Living and working in such a city would definitely be a pleasure, although the real estate prices in such locations tend to be unusually high. The drawbacks would mainly be regarding the area of natural habitation which constantly needs to be cleared in order to maintain the pace of development.

The other type of city that is the vertical city is more commonplace nowadays. The origin of most of these cities was due to the unfettered growth of population and lack of land for further development, which forced people to move skyward. Here, work is easily available and property prices tend to be much more affordable as compared to the horizontal cities. Although the main problems with these cities include sound nuisance, garbage management, water shortages and a host of other problems, land is not an issue. These urban spaces not only offer modern and sustainable living but also provide room for corporate development.

To give my opinion as a summary, I would state that looking at today’s advancements and weighing the pros and cons of both lifestyle choices, horizontal cities sound very appealing but are not likely to last for very long.  In contrast, vertical cities are by far more economical and sustainable. I believe that vertical cities are the way forward.

IELTS Writing Essay # People think that teenagers should follow the example of older people.

IELTS Writing Task # Essay

Some people think that teenagers should follow the example of older people. Others think that it is natural for teenagers to challenge what older people say.

Discuss both views and give your opinion.

SAMPLE ANSWER-

Teenage is the phrase of responsibility and autonomy, and whether or not teenagers should follow the canonical ways of their past generation is an arguable topic. Some conservative people of society believe that adolescents must follow the advice of older people while the teenagers can have opposing views. In this essay, I would shed light on both the notions and give my point of view.

A majority of people hold that knowledge and prudence that our elderly parents or grandparents possess is more trustful. Elders are old for a reason and their wisdom, experience and judgment can be advantageous for the teenagers. Moreover, they have an insight into issues that would not have been considered otherwise. For example, the homemade remedies that we commonly use nowadays were invented by our ancestors such as various skin care or cold remedies.

On the other hand, though youngsters must respect their elders, some consider their opinions to be outdated as their information and wisdom are not relevant in today’s era of science and technology. Furthermore, many elderly people were against equal rights, homosexuality and believed in patriarchy which is not applicable in a modern world. Considering this we may argue that challenging old ways of life and belief is somewhat essential.

In a nutshell, youngsters should consult their elders when taking various decisions as they have a different approach to life which can make everyone’s life easier. However, there are some choices that teenagers should take independently without entirely relying on elders.
