IELTS Essay about Shopping Malls

SAMPLE ANSWER

Globalisation, technology and media has hit the world with a greater force than we could have imagined. With these changing times, most young people now prefer spending their leisure times at malls rather than having constructive hobby. Some people believe this can have adverse effect on society, which I agree with.

Firstly, most teenagers and youngsters shop either from their pocket money or their parents money, usually to show off. For example, an 18 year old girl will probably buy an expensive dress to brandish in front of her friends or a young man will get an expensive phone to display his wealth. This money if put to better use, like, education for poor or for self improvement can ensure a better society.

Secondly, going to shopping malls is not just about buying things anymore. Youngsters often go to these shopping centres to try out a food chain. Doing this regularly can have adverse effects on the health of the individual.

However, we are in times when an individual is judged by the external appearance rather than internal, at the first sight. Shopping malls often have better options in terms of discount and quality. Even more, there are marts with lot of positive activities. For example, most book shops in the malls allow the person to read a book in the shop for as many hours one wants to.
Overall, youth spending time in shopping malls can have both detrimental and positive effects. Like most of the other changes that hit the society, ultimately it depends on the individual how to take it.(263 Words)

IELTS Essay Sample Questions # Parenting Training

You should spend 40 minutes on this task.

It is necessary for parents to attend parenting training courses to bring their children up. Do you agree or disagree?

You should write at least 250 words.

SAMPLE ANSWER

It is the 21st century and with globalisation and an upsurge of youth around the world there has been an increased competition for jobs and building a career. Gone are the days of limited hours of working, in present times people have added workaholic to their personality trait. Some people believe that it is important for parents to attend parenting schools in order to bring their children up efficiently. In my opinion, given the state of our times, attending parenting schools should not be discarded completely.

Firstly, a person learns more in company of peers. It is not necessary to entirely go by the rule book being taught in the parenting school but learning from the troubles of the fellow parents can be helpful. Every child is unique but sometimes the solution to the problems is same. Even more, this helps in building confidence amongst parents.

Secondly, with technology ruling over the world there has been a dramatic change in the way world behaves. We have got problems like never before, peer pressure, sexual harassment and identity crisis. It is important for parents to understand how to deal with such problems in their kids especially because for most of them they have not dealt with such issues.

In conclusion, overall it is possible for an individual to give up everything and raise their children. However, giving up on oneself to raise children can take a toll of lives. In my opinion, taking help from parenting schools and yet doing everything unique for their children is what is required to raise healthy kids.
