Saying No To Boss

You cannot always say a yes and this is a fact. Saying yes to everyone could lead to a big no for you. Although you can say a direct no to people you do not care about, it often becomes difficult to say a no, especially if the person is your boss. This problem becomes more severe if you are a non-native speaker and you just landed yourself a job in abroad.

SAYING NO TO BOSS

What to do if you want to say a no to your boss? Can you say it? There is always a dilemma. What if? What if I get fired? What if the boss sees me as a lazy chap? What then? Well, you can always say a no. but surely, you cannot say it directly. For example-:

Your boss asks you to do a particular job and you already have a job that is pretty much important. What to do?
You can say, sure I can do this. But then I wont be able to do the earlier job assigned to me. Now, tell me which job you want me to do?
It might seem simple but it is quite effective. Why effective? First because you give the other person a sense that they still have the power. After all they are the ones making the choice. Second, you never said a no. your first reaction was a yes. so, this will surely not bring a negative impact on your conversation. Third, you save yourself from the burden.

You are not a machine rather a human. You can say a no but you should know how to say it.

While Or Meanwhile?

While Or Meanwhile?

I will do this while you finish that.
I went to the concert. Meanwhile, my friend was at restaurant.
They both are used when two actions are happening at the same time
But then what is the difference?

1. Meanwhile is used to add two statements. So, to use meanwhile, you should have two different actions going on simultaneously.
2. You cannot add meanwhile in the beginning of the first sentence. It is at the beginning of the second sentence.
3. When you use while you have got one sentence.
4. While can be added at the beginning or middle of a sentence.
5. In while, the comma comes after the sentence. Example-: while you sang, i took pictures.
6. There is an immediate comma after meanwhile.
7. It is not necessary to have an immediate comma after while.
8. Meanwhile is always followed by the subject.
9. While can have a subject but is not necessary. Example-: everyday i read newspaper while eating breakfast.

Remember, no matter how small the difference, if it is there, it counts.

Difference Between Then And Than

Then And Then are one of the most confusing words in English Language. Although they do sound similar the difference between then and than is is quite obvious as the difference between a sun and son.

Both the words are pronounced differently. Then sounds like ken. Than is more like can. Well, difference may seem to you obvious right now, but the issue arrives when people speak really fast.

Then-: It usually comes at the beginning or end of the sentence. It does not mean that it always come, but yes, often it comes in the beginning or end. Then ,is used with sequence. For example-: I first made the base, then dropped the cutting on it. Or, I went to new York first and then to Canada. There is a sequence we are talking about, that is why “then” is used.

Spellings Matter In IELTS

Although often neglected, spelling matter in IELTS. Spelling play a very important role in deciding your band in IELTS. A correct spelling could save you good marks in Listening as well as in lexical resource. Although few incorrect spellings are ignored, but if you make many, it could lead you to a trap hole. Today, I bring to you few of the common English spelling we often get confused on.

1.Till and Until-: often it seems that since till has two l in the end, until will have two l, since all we are doing is adding un to it. How to remember this? Let us just say, sine two words are added in front of it, it loses the two l, making it until.( this is no logical explanation, it is just a way to remember).

2.Forth and Fourth-: Both of these words are pronounced similar. But, forth means to move forward, but fourth means the number four. How to remember this? Easy enough. The one that spells like “four” refers to it. The other one is forward.

These spellings could sound trivial, but when written wrong or understood wrong, could create a havoc in your exam.
