IELTS SPEAKING TASK CUE CARD

DESCRIBE A WATER SPORT YOU WANT TO DO?

  • What was the success?
  • When it happened?
  • How did he/she accomplished it?
  • And explain why you thought it was a success.
SAMPLE ANSWER

A water sport that I fancied to experience for a long time is Scuba diving. The life underwater has always fascinated me, and it would grant me the opportunity to come in contact with the flora and fauna of marine life. As seen in some documentaries, unlike other water activities which involve noises, Scuba diving is a calm and serene sport in which the diver gets away from the troubles of the outer world, experiencing a whole different world altogether. All we are surrounded by is incredible sea creatures and hear the sound of bubbles while we breathe. It is captivating the way humans can breathe deeply underwater with other oceanic beings and coral reefs.

Unfortunately on my last vacation to Goa, I planned but had to cancel my Scuba diving reservations due to some unavoidable medical conditions. I felt envious of my cousins who did it and couldn’t stop talking about how relaxing it was which made me all the more curious. Therefore, this year on my vacation to Kerala, I would definitely love to experience this thrilling sport.

As far as I’ve learned, Scuba diving is considered to be a less complicated sport. It is said to eliminate stress. As underwater we have zero gravity, scuba diving is like flying underwater and being weightless. It is full of fun and though there’s a professional trainer present with us under water, some people who have aqua phobia might feel claustrophobic or fear the marine creatures.

As exploring nature is a meditation in itself, being surrounded by the exotic marine creatures would be a dream I’d like to live forever. Considering that 70% of the world is under the sea which clearly means that it’s unexplored. Therefore, getting to see that undiscovered part with just a dive would be a once in a lifetime experience. There’s no better feeling that encountering those unique species for the first time.

IELTS Cue Card- A expensive hobby you can’t pursue daily

Describe an expensive hobby you can’t pursue daily.
You should say:
• What it is?
• Why it is expensive?
• Why you wish to pursue it?
And explain when you are planning on doing it in near future.

Sample Answer

Hobbies cultivate a man. There are lot of different hobbies like drawing, dancing, painting etc. that I’ve pursued since childhood. A hobby I’ve developed in my late teens is travelling.

Social networking sites today are flooded with people posing and writing about their vivid travel stories. This is inspiring young travel enthusiasts like me to take up bits and pieces from their side and have some amazing travel experiences. But, travelling isn’t a hobby that I can always manage, especially on a student budget. It turns out to be quite expensive. Travelling involves lot of expenditure on accommodation, transport and food etc.

Travelling is food for the soul. I think that everybody will agree to this idea. Travelling helps one adapt to different cultures and understand the people and places. It makes one open from the bondages of stereotypes and uplifts one’s horizons. On a personal level, travelling has helped me a lot. It has made me a more awakened person and helped me build my self confidence. One can travel both with friends and alone. I prefer travelling alone as it gives me a lot of time to pursue my own passion and activities which aren’t so often done on normal days.

I plan on going for a cultural trip to Pondicherry in the coming holidays. To make it possible I have been surfing the internet to find affordable hotels to stay. I wish to go there as the place has a rich French influenced architecture. It’s known for its historical monuments and special dishes. I plan on experiencing a part of their culture and their lives. According to me, travelling can be pursued by anybody irrespective of the age and gender constraints. It’s a hobby that one must cultivate.

IELTS Speaking Task Cue Card # Talk about a cologne you use?

IELTS Speaking Task Cue Card

Talk about a cologne you use?

  • Which one it is?
  • How often you use it?
  • Is it necessary to use on a daily basis?

And explain why do you use it?

Sample Answer

Since the dawn of civilization, men and women have been applying perfumes, essential oils and colognes. As different individuals have diverse choices when it comes to food, clothes, opinions, similar is the case with perfumes. It is said that an individual’s fragrance plays a crucial part in his/her identity and is used as a symbol of an evolved and refined society. My all-time favorite cologne is Bloom by Gucci mainly because I prefer my fragrance to be sweet and fresh rather than strong because of my perfume intolerance to bold fragrances. One gets the full force of the white flower bouquet with a tint of coolness after applying it.

As Gucci Bloom is an exotic and expensive perfumes, I don’t wear it on a regular basis. I don’t like to spend a fortune for just a perfume, so for everyday use, I go with Victoria Secret’s mist collection as they aren’t that heavy on the pocket. More importantly they last long even during humid weather conditions of my country.

Fragrance is like an accessory and many people even today are unaware of its benefits. Perfumes tend to relieve stress, it is also used to make a statement and show our unique personality. Perfumes evokes memories as well when a particular fragrance or a signature scent reminds us of someone. Depending on one’s personal taste, you can choose from the variety of colognes available in the market like fruity, musky, floral or oriental.

Personally, I think no one would want to smell foul and sit beside someone with an unpleasant odor. To be socially acceptable, apart from staying hygienic and clean, people wear colognes when they step out of their houses. As perfume also build self-confidence, we wear it to complete our outfit and to be more attractive especially for important occasions.

DIFFICULT WORDS-

  • EXOTIC- originating from a distant foreign country
  • ORIENTAL- characteristic of countries of the East, especially East Asia
  • EVOLVED- develop gradually

Sample Answer

Level IELTS Band9 There are numerous national and international companies in my country. Today, I’m going to talk about an organization I would like to be a part of. The name of the organization is the Indian Space Research Organization, commonly known as the ISRO. It is the space agency of the government of India headquartered in Bangalore, Karnataka. It was founded by Dr. Vikram Sarabhai in 1969. The ISRO has many centers which are located in different regions of India. I have a keen interest in celestial objects like stars, galaxies and black holes. My father’s close friend is a scientist in the ISRO. I have learnt a lot about the projects of this organization from him. In addition, I had the opportunity to visit the ISRO Satellite Center on a school trip. Over the last 47 years, the ISRO has emerged as one of the six largest space agencies in the world. It develops and delivers services in various fields. Communication, weather forecast, disaster management tools, geographic information systems, navigation, telemedicine and distant education satellites are some of them. Its mission of using space research for the development of the nation has always inspired me to become a scientist.
