IELTS Writing Task 2 # WHO DO PEOPLE HATE ADVERTISEMENTS?

IELTS Writing Task 2 Essay

WHO DO PEOPLE HATE ADVERTISEMENTS?

  • Companies spend millions on advertisements every year. Nowadays, many people do not like to watch advertisements.
  • Why do you think this is the case?
  • What can be done to improve this?

Sample Answer

Living in an industrial era, advertisements play a major part in the marketing of a company. In a recent survey conducted in the US, it was proved that companies invest nearly 8-10 % of their gross revenue on marketing and advertisement. Spending a hefty amount on advertisements may help them achieve their objectives, and improve their interaction with the customers. But most of the people in the market find advertisements intrusive and futile.

There are many reasons why people find advertisements unnecessary. The primary reason is that many advertisements show unrealistic scenarios just to promote a particular product. The customers cannot relate to these situations. For instance, unfeasible scenes like infants promoting financial and insurance companies. The secondary reason is that many food brands blatantly falsify the product by hiring food photographers in order to attract and appeal to their customers while the actual food is not so captivating. Lastly, some advertisements exaggerate the benefits of the products making them look overpromising. For instance, many fitness or beauty brands overvalue the benefits of certain products.

People of society would prefer more realistic and practical advertisements and the ones that wouldn’t interrupt their work or entertainment. Interruption in any form would disturb the frequency of the viewer due to which people end up skipping these advertisements. For instance, advertisements that appear while watching a video on YouTube.

In order to improve advertising efficiency, the companies need to understand their audience and design advertisements about more realistic situations people can relate to. The companies also need to realize that some of these advertisements might interfere with the functioning of the people, especially the online advertisements that pop-up on the internet.

In this modern era, it is impossible to avoid advertisements completely as they play a vital part in the marketing and promotion of an organization. Therefore, companies should work on offering the true value of the product while advertising them. These organizations should also invest less in the marketing of the product and more on improving the quality of that product as it would be more fruitful.

Saving the environment is no longer a subject matter that is limited strictly to science. With changing climatic conditions, a particular community cannot be held entirely responsible to keep a check on the environment. Common environmental conditions such as water pollution, air pollution, noise pollution and global warming is a matter of serious concern. In my opinion, it is under the government’s control to solve environment related issues which cannot be implemented without an individual’s support.

On the one hand, there is an ongoing discussion on an appropriate role of the government regarding saving the environment from global warming. Therefore, industrial construction related activities cannot commence without the approval of the government. As half of the population of our country are currently reeling with water related crises, abnormally high temperature, deforestation and melting of Himalayan glaciers, this issue cannot be ignored. It is the duty of our government to take immediate actions involving the signing of petitions, treaties, saving wildlife and the land. For instance, they can promote usage of solar energy and also ban industries from dumping industrial waste in the water bodies.

On the other hand, however, managing environment issues cannot be successful until and unless the individuals take an interest in it. Being a member of society, everyone is equally responsible for their environment. As ‘Every drop of water makes the mighty Ocean’, an individual can make personal efforts such as avoiding usage of plastic items, keeping their neighborhood clean and reusing products. For instance, tiny steps like taking car-pools instead of personal vehicles to work can also be implemented.

In my opinion, if the government and the citizens play their part simultaneously, without blaming each other. It would definitely bring a positive effect on the environment. The government can impose laws to prevent environmental degradation while awareness and education among the citizens can have a significant effect on such issues. By modifying their lifestyle and living habits we can help save the environment.

As the chief writer for the website, you are expected to write articles on different spheres of the city. The central idea of the website is to make people aware of the city. IELTS Speaking Sample Questions # Ideal House

SAMPLE ANSWER

I currently live in an apartment with two rooms and a kitchen and although I like my house, I would love to move into a cottage in the near time. The idea of living in a cottage in the countryside, truly makes me feel excited about life. The cool breeze, the no traffic, the less stress and the beauty around to savor.

Being brought up in different parts of the country and having lived in Dehradun for around 6 years, it is in the hills that I find my solace. So, my cottage will definitely be in either Almora or the hills of Mussoorie. It will be a cottage with two floors. On the ground floor will be three rooms, where I will be living with my family and on the first floor, I would love to have two rooms. One of them will be a study room and the other will be a library.

I would love to decorate it with all the things that I have collected over a period of time traveling across the country. There are some paintings and then some of them are the collages of different pictures collected, some are memories of people I met. I want my cottage to have all of the memories of people I have met in my life. I want to share my life with my husband and my parents. It would be great fun for all of our families to live together in a beautiful house and make our own living.

House is the most important part of our lives and having the house of my dreams along with the people I love the most, that will definitely be life for me.

PART 3
What kind of home do most people in your country live in?

Our country has a diverse section of people living across, from different geographical backgrounds, people all over the country live in different kinds of home. People living in urban areas tend to live in apartments, while those living in rural areas, can either live in cottages or semi-detached house or a terraced house.

Do you think moving to a new home can bring problems to people?

Shifting is always a problem and involves a lot of things that need to be taken care of. But, if they are not taken care of properly, they tend to cause issues like management and adjustments. Some people face issues because they are not able to adjust to their new house. Or the new people around them!

Do you think people in your country like to live with their parents?

Most people in my country love to live with their parents, but then with the new generation and the concept of modernization and westernization creeping in, there are some people who tend to not live with their parents. They want to enjoy their own freedom and become more independent. Our country is seeing this shift, with more and more people moving towards the independent life style, whereas there are many who deep rootedly wish to live with their parents.
