IELTS Speaking Sample Questions # TV

TV has been one of the most famous form of entertainment since its inception. People have been crazy about it since times when there was nothing much being displayed on the television screen and now with so many satellites up there, television has offered people with options they never thought of. This time we are looking at some sample questions that can be asked in IELTS speaking section.

How much television do you usually watch?

We have moved into a new city and the only preference that I had was no television in my house. Five years from now, I loved television and watched it very often. May be around 4 hours a day. However, with time I have realised that there is much more to life than just watching television. So, now I rarely watch television, only when there is a world cup series going on.

I seldom watch TV. The only times that I do open the  television is when there is a cricket match or when I am at someone’s else house and they are watching something.

What’s your favourite TV program?

I love watching Discovery Channel and the History Channel but there is no particular TV program that I stick to. Whenever I do get time, I open any of these channels to enjoy whatever is going on.

Did you watch much TV when you were a child?

Oh! Yes. I was a couch potato when I was younger. We used to have fights for remote to watch the program that I wanted. I was obsessed with lot of TV programs and after watching them would go and discuss with my friends about them. Programs like Splitsvilla, roadies, Dill Mill Gayee. I remember being mad about the male protoganist of Dill Mill Gaye.

What type of programs did you watched as a child?

I remember not having a television till I was in Class 6. It was only when I passed on to Class 7 that we did had a television at home. So, as a child it was after  12 or 13 years. But, during that period I loved watching both cartoons and drama serials. So, I would watch Beyblade, Pokemhon, Dragon Ball Z and then at the same time I even watched Dill Mill Gaye, which was a Drama.

Do you think television has changed in the past few decades?

I think there is not much change that has happened in television industry since the past few decades. Obviously, yes the television has become grander when compared to before but then fundamentally it has remained same. There still are drama shows, reality shows and news. Just like earlier, there are certain shows with great social message while there are so many that are just there for pure fun.

Has television changed your life in any ways?

I don’t think it has changed my life completely but it surely has impacted my life in so many ways. It was watching shows like Dill Mill Gayye in my early childhood that have made me a true blue romantic. Then shows like Splistvilla have taught me that at the end of the day, life is a game and there is nothing like winning or losing in the end. It is only about how well you played the game and the only person who wins the fight is the one who plays it well.

Do you think television has changed since your childhood?

I do surely miss the amazing cartoons that came when I was a child. If in terms of change, the fundamental business has remained the same however I think the quality and the way of portraying the same things has changed. There is much more drama in the television than before and it has surely become as grand as the big screen.
