Sample Answer:
The presented pie charts depict how much proportion of money U.S.A natives had spent on seven distinct categories in two specific years 1966 and 1996.

Looking from an overall perspective, it is readily apparent that food sector was leading in the beginning of the period, whilst cars segment overtook the position after 30 years of time span.

Looking at the details, in 1966, food was the most popular category amid Americans, constituting more than two-fifths of their spending (44%). Almost half of this percentage, customers allocated on cars, making it the second highest on list. In contrast, the lowest expenditure U.S residents made was on computers, accounting at just 1%. Expenses by them on furniture and petrol were nearly one-tenth each. Books and restaurants spending stood at 6% and 7% respectively.

Moving further, after 3 decades, food sector experienced/ underwent a steep decline and amounted to 14%, whereas expenditure on cars rose substantially from 23% to 45%. General Training Writing Task 1: a letter to a pen friend

You should spend about 20 minutes on this task.
You have a pen friend living in another country and he/she is curious to know about the major news items in your country.
Briefly describe ONE news story that has been on TV, on the radio or in the newspapers in your country and explain why people are interested in it.
Write at least 150 words.
You do NOT need to write your own address.

Begin your letter as follows:
Dear ………..

Sample Answer

Dear Asha,

I hope you are doing well. It has been ages since I wrote to you. I was very busy with my board examinations. It is a big step towards my future. It seems to me as if the whole world is gearing up for a new beginning with unexpectedly surprising measures.

As for India, we are all demonetizing our ₹500 and ₹1,000 notes to battle black money. The expected amount to be ‘found’ is around £200 Billion GBP. Just take a moment to soak that all in. This is a gigantic move for India as sadly there is a lot of bribery and black money handling. Heck, every single person in India could be a mini millionaire if all of its wealth were to be distributed equally among its citizens.

Honestly, from my point of view the situation is pretty hilarious. As just yesterday people were trying to rake in as much money as possible, the bigger notes the better. And just in a matter of hours people went from gazing lovingly to simply hostilely glaring at bundles of money. Don’t you think all this is very humorous too?

But enough about my country, what about you? How do you feel about Donald Trump being elected? What new and unexpected things do you think will happen next?

Your buddy,
Diksha Ramola

IELTS WRITING Task 1 Pie Chart # Schools Survey

Sample Answer

The pie chart highlights people’s views from a survey of the reasons behind poor academic outcomes in a country in 2011.

People attributed bad performance in schools to a number of causes. These included working parents, lack of revision, inadequate facilities, unskilled teachers and upbringing. Among all the five listed causes, unskilled teachers was cited by the maximum number of those surveyed at 35%. This was followed by the way a child is brought up, a cause quoted by 27% of the poll sample. Only one in five participants ascribed unsatisfactory school results to working parents. Lack of facilities and revision were considered by fewer respondents, 10% and 8% respectively.

In general, both school related and home environment related causes were held accountable for low educational attainment. Notably, total percentages of people who cited these factors were not significantly different, 53 percent versus 47 percent. However, it is clearly evident that most participants blamed untrained teachers for below average academic results.

IELTS Graph

Sample Answer:

(IELTS Lavel 8.5)
The bar graph compares the popularity of six activity clubs between two adult age groups at a particular leisure center.
OR
The bar graph provides information about how two age groups participate in six activity clubs at a particular leisure center.

One striking feature of the data is that the photography, fitness, and music/dance clubs are popular with both older and younger people. By Contrast, the cycling, arts and crafts, and gardening activities clearly appeal more to one of the age groups. The cycling club has the greatest number of 25-35 year-olds, but it is one of the least popular clubs with the older age group.

This trend is closely followed by the arts and crafts club which has 60 young members in comparison with only 20 from the 55-65 age bracket. In the gardening club, the pattern is reversed. There are about 55 members aged between 45 and 55 while the proportion of young participants is considerably lower. Notably, the composition of fitness and music/dance clubs is quite balanced, but there are slightly fewer older members. The membership of photography club stands at 45 for both groups.

In general, it can be concluded that some clubs attract both young and old people. Nonetheless, overall, the younger age group is significantly more involved in various activities than the 55-65 year-olds. (220 Words)
