Group activities are not limited to friends or family, they can also be done with strangers. I happen to experience this strange, yet astonishing exposure with a group of strangers.
I had been planning to visit Manali during winters from a very long time but none of my friends or family members showed any interest. I was thrilled to bits after getting to know about the snowfall in Manali this year. I couldn’t abstain myself from witnessing the pristine snow-covered mountains. So, I planned to go on a solo trip to Manali. I was surfing the internet to find the perfect travel agency who could guide me for my trip. While surfing the internet. I came across a website named WanderOn wherein a group of strangers travel together. I was fascinated by this idea, but at the same time sceptic too. To get this exposure, I booked my trip with WanderOn. The trip began from Delhi. It was an overnight journey from Delhi to Manali by a bus. I was awestruck to see the scenic views of the great Himalayas from the dormer of the bus. We arrived at our hotel at around two in the afternoon. We were allotted our rooms in a three star hotel which was in the heart of the town. After our lunch and relaxation, we headed towards the activities of Day 1 in Manali. We started by local sightseeing and visited the Hadimba Temple, a 16th century old temple dedicated to Goddess Hadimba , wife of Bhima from the Indian epic Mahabharata. After visiting the temple, we headed towards Manali nature Park. Later in the day, we visited the famous Mall Road, a lively street lined with numerous shops, restaurants, and cafes. Towards the end of the day, that group of strangers who did not know each other became great friends.
On the second day, we visited the Solang Valley, a famous tourist harbor known for its dazzling views and thrilling activities, such as paragliding, bungee jumping and skiing. We spent the whole day indulging in these activities.
On the last day, we packed up our gear and said goodbye to the exquisite place. We all promised each other to meet again. Overall, it was an outstanding experience. And I would definitely try to visit some other place with a group of strangers.
I never thought this small decision would make such a great impact in my life. That trip turned out to be a memorable one.

Pollution is everywhere nowadays. It is extremely difficult to find a place where the air is not polluted. Here I would like to talk about the city I visited a year ago, where I found the air to be extremely polluted. I happen to visit New Delhi last year to attend a friend’s wedding. I boarded my train from Saharanpur to Hazrat Nizamuddin and from there I had to reach Rajiv Chowk by metro.
As I stepped out of the train I felt a burning sensation in my eyes and I was finding it hard to breathe. Thereafter, I even started to cough.
I drank some water & washed my face at the station itself. While I was walking towards the metro station, I realized that the air here is extremely polluted. Whereas, the locals had absolutely no problem bcoz they have become prone to breathing the same polluted air. Upon arrival at my friend’s house I washed my face with cold water and felt some relief. There my friends informed me that Delhi is one of the most polluted cities in India, due to unplanned development. During winters a thick blanket of smog covers Delhi due to stubble burning. Air pollution has serious impacts on human health such as asthama, bronchitis and other respiratory diseases. I feel blessed that I don’t reside in Delhi but at the same time feel pity for the ones who live there. Government as well the local communities should come together to take some serious measures to prevent air pollution in the capital city of India.

Part 3 Follow-Up Questions
Q.1 Is there more pollution now than in the past ?
Absolutely, there is more air pollution these days than in the past. With the advancement of new industries there is a massive rise in the level of pollution. As, strict rules have not been imposed for effluent treatment.
Q.2 In what ways can the air pollution be reduced effectively?
Several steps can be taken to reduce the level of air pollution. It is not the responsibility of only the government, but also of commoners to follow the rules imposed by the government. In my opinion, strict rules should be laid down for effluent treatment as well as on disposing of industrial waste.
Q.3 Do you think many companies have been forced to reduce pollutants ?
Yes, several companies have been forced to reduce pollutants. However, unfortunately these industries find ways of escaping from penalties and fines.
Q.4 Do you think the wind has any effect on pollution? How ?
Yes, I think the wind plays a vital role in dispersing the pollutants. For example, cities surrounded with sea helps in effective entry and exit for dispersing pollutants whereas, pollution in the landlocked places accumulates there only.

People often face challenges in their lives. Some of them are handled well on the other hand, some issues are hard to swallow. We often tend to give up in such situations. I was in trouble when me and friends went for a trek to a place near Mussurie. It is called Nag-Tibba, and it is famous for the mesmerizing view of the upper Himalayas you get from there. We were a group of youngsters in our early 20s. We started our trek with fervor and were enjoying our hike.
The view of the sunset was enticing, but we realized we were in trouble as we were far away from our destination and it was about to get dark. This was just the tip of the iceberg, as we also forgot to carry a torch with us. Moving around in darkness was risky, and the only option we had was to camp for the night at the same spot.
We built a fire, fixed our camps, and decided that everyone would rotateally wake up for a few hours to avoid any possible danger from wild animals. Finally, the night was over, and we resumed our expedition.
There was a lot to learn from this difficulty we encountered. First, we should always be well prepared while doing something that is not part of our daily routine and never lose our vision in excitement.
I felt very lucky that nothing unfortunate happened with us, and I revamped my belief in my decision-making.

Part 3 Follow-Up Questions
Q.1 Do people like to face challenges?
I think most people avoid stressful situations. Humans love being in their comfort zone and try to stay away from a tight-spot.
Q.2 How do you support others who are facing challenges?
When people from my family and friends are in a sticky situation, the first thing I do is to hear them out properly. If it’s something in my area of expertise , I advise them. If it’s something I am unfamiliar with, I seek advice from people who are related to that area.
Q.3 What are some challenges that people in your hometown face?
My hometown is the capital of our state. The primary issue people face here is the traffic problem during rush hours. Secondly, the number of street dogs has increased significantly over the past few years, which has created safety issues. Poorly managed waste systems contribute to the clogging of drains, and strayed animals often consume polythene along with food they find in the garbage.

Nature has been the primary resource for fulfilling all kinds of basic human needs. It is also highly beneficial due to its applications in healthcare. There is a wide variety of trees, shrubs, and plants that offer various health related benefits. Some plants are rare, while some are very common, and are found everywhere in a particular region, such as tulsi.
One such common plant is Azadirachta indica, commonly known as neem plant or Indian lilac. Neem is a fast-growing, evergreen tree, and reaches a height of 20 meters. The branches are long and wide, with toothed, pinnate leaves. It has white and fragrant flowers, and small, olive like, drupe shaped fruits that are bittersweet in taste.
The neem plant is native to the Indian subcontinent, and not only does it survive, but also thrives in less water. Furthermore, it can grow in different kinds of soil, and is a tropical or subtropical tree. This plant can resist high temperatures, but not very low temperatures. Furthermore, it can be found almost everywhere in India, growing in gardens, temples, parks, roadsides, and other public places. Known for its thick foliage, it is grown for its shade in different outdoor seating areas.
I find it very useful due to its long list of usage possibilities and medicinal benefits. The leaves are used in cooking different vegetables, salads, and pickling. Neem is highly beneficial and possesses many medicinal qualities. Its leaves are used to cure skin diseases, and the oil is used to keep healthy hair, for improving liver function, blood detoxification, along with balancing blood sugar levels. Neem twigs are used as natural toothbrushes and tongue cleaners. It has other applications such as in cosmetics, and sanitary products.
