IELTS CUE CARD – Talk about an animal you like

IELTS CUE CARD : Talk about an animal you like

You should say:

  • What this animal is
  • What is special about this animal?
  • How it looks like
  • And explain why you like this animal.

Sample Answer

Animals are eclectic creatures; they go all the way from the very friendly and domesticated to the lethal and feral. They come in different shapes, sizes and colours. Even animals of a single species are incomparable to their counterparts due to the sheer number of differences.

Today I will talk about one of my all-time favourite animals; the horse. Like other animal species, horses too,  come in different sizes and colors. Shetland ponies have a stockier body, round shape, thick fur, and short stubby legs, they are not much used in athletic pursuits. Arabian Horses, on the other hand, are taller, sleekly built with light bones, they are used exclusively for racing. Now, both of these are scientifically speaking horses, but are oh so different in appearance, nature and purpose.

Despite differences in their physical appreance, all horses have some things in common which earn them the top spots among my favourite animals. For one, their movements. Whenever a horse moves, I can’t help but admire the powerful muscles bulging and gliding beneath their coats, the sheer potential power they have in each step is breathtaking. The way they move is more elegant than most humans can ever hope to achieve. Their might is undeniable. For another, they are loyal, intelligent, and empathetic creatures. The bonds that a rider and horse may form is second to none. All these unique qualities make horses special to me.

Speaking part 3 follow up questions:

Q.1 Do people in your country keep animals at home?

Animals like cows, buffaloes and goats are domesticated widely in the countryside. In fact, livestock rearing provides sustainable livelihoods to millions of people living in rural areas.

Q.2 Do you think pets are important?

Yes, certainly. Pets can bring love and companionship into our life. Many studies have shown that keeping pets reduces our stress levels, thereby improving our health and well-being.

Q.3 Do animals have rights?

Humans use animals for food and related by-products, farming and a variety of other uses. Everyday millions of different types of animals are killed for food globally. Just by looking at these figures, I’d say that these creatures should at least have the right to live. But, who cares? Laws are made for protecting animals but they don’t work in reality.

IELTS Cue Card 2024 : Describe a television programme that you watch

Describe a television programme that you watch.

You should say:

  • What kind of television programme it is?
  • What usually happens in the television programme?
  • Why you enjoy watching the television programme?

And explain why you would recommend the television programme to the other people.

Sample Answer:

I don’t watch TV so often but whenever I find a chance I always try and watch a show called “Kings of Restoration”. It is featured on the History Channel. It is a great show for anyone who has an interest in art and creativity.

The show starts with the announcement of the product received recently for restoration. Rick Dale, the owner and the host along with his team explores the product and tells about its current condition and what ideas they have for fixing it.  They get a variety of products from old broken vending machines to automobiles. The whole team works hands in hands to get the original raw parts and prepare the required designs. The show telecasts the way they work on each of the old part.

I love watching this show for a number of reasons. I used to team up with my dad as a child and watch the whole series with uttermost fascination. So, this show holds memories with my dad. As both of us have a deep profound interest in machines and tools, we would often talk over our own suggestions and ideas while watching it.

This TV programme has also helped me come up with a lot of creative solutions for my old goods and helped me restore many items that weren’t in use. The best part about the show is always the ending scene when they finally give away the restored product to the owner. It leaves everyone of us including the customer enthralled and amazed. I recommend this show to everyone because it’s a perfect Sunday afternoon show for both the young and old. It not only entertains the viewers but also provides a lot of knowledge at the same time.

IELTS Cue Card 2024: A friend from childhood you remember very well.

A friend from childhood you remember very well:

You should know:

  • When and how did you first meet this friend?
  • What did you like to do together?
  • What did you have in common?

Sample Answer

Friendship is a beautiful relation that touches everyone’s lives in a different way. I too have had many amazing people as my friends, especially during my childhood. I can recall many such friends who were very close to me, but the closest one was Smith.

He was my best friend for a better part of my childhood. I met him when I was 6 years old. He lived in the neighborhood just two houses away from ours. I met him on the first day in the society garden. I was roaming about aimlessly when he appeared and asked me if I live here. We started talking and discovered a lot of common things to talk about. Soon became the best buddies for almost 7 years until his family moved to another state. We had a lot of matching thoughts and hobbies. We both liked playing video games, collecting comic books, watching cartoons, reading stories, amongst other activities. We used to go to school and many other outings together. We also played and studied together at both our homes.

Our goals in the future were also the same as we both wanted to become teachers when we grew up. We even had a similar taste in food and dressing ideas. This friendship was important to me to such an extent that I considered him as my sibling more than a friend. He was the only neighboring kid who I spent the maximum amount of my time with. The best part is all the memories that we created together and the fact that I still cherish them in my heart.

IELTS Cue Card 2024: Describe your home town.

Describe your home town.

You should know:

  • Where is your hometown?
  • What is it famous for?
  • What do people do here?

My home town is Dehradun a valley town nestled in the foothills of the Himalayan Mountains. A bouquet of picturesque sights and natural landscapes, it is certainly one of the most beautiful places one can visit in India. It is also the state capital of Uttarakhand, and is two hundred and fifty kilometers away from the national capital.

Dehradun is also colloquially known as the gateway to God’s abode. It is famous for its variegated plethora of tourist attractions such as Mussouri, Kempty falls, Camel’s back mountains, and many other such beautiful places. In addition to it, the suburb is also renowned as an education hub seeing that it plays a host to many good colleges and institutions. Many students from all over the country come to study here.

Furthermore, the Indian Military Academy is also situated near the heart of the city and is a crown jewel of the city, imparting a glorious prestige to the place. Other famous attributes include seasonal fruits such as lichi as well as the pleasant weather conditions that prompt tourism as well. In fact, it is one of the few places in the country where one can experience five different seasons of the year. Dehradun is a developing place and is home to many local businesses in the field of marketing, sales, information technology, construction, and food. In fact, people apart from farming and government jobs work in these sectors to make a living.

Moreover, it is a maze of long winding roads with a lot of twists and turns and has its own unique essence that the locals cherish. These are a few reasons for my hometown being beautiful and for my love for the place.
