Sample Answer:

Shopping is a very popular hobby among girls. I personally love shopping too. I visited the mall on the weekend looking for some shoes. I fell in love with a pair of brown leather wedges and decided to buy them instantly. It bought it from Steve Maiden and it was a worthy deal.

I bought it for my birthday. The shoes went great along with the pink dress that I had specially bought for the occasion. The dress had a similar brown leather belt so they looked great together.

The shoes have a basic shade so it is worthy to match with lot of outfits that I have. I use it over my pair of rugged denims, dresses and several jumpsuits. The shoes lift me up and build a confidence in me. I personally love them. They are comfortable and steady. They keep my feet stable irrespective of the high heel and provides support to the aching back. The cloth is amazing and the leather is of a fine source.

I was super excited to show them to my mom. She too liked them and appreciated my choice. She examined the quality and was very satisfied. I further told her that I got the last piece for a very discounted rate. She was pretty amazed hearing the price that I paid for the shoes. I look forward to shopping from the same store again. I’m really happy about my purchase.

IELTS Cue Card # RIVER OR LAKE IN YOUR COUNTRY

IELTS Cue Card, Talk about an important river or lake in your country

Talk about an important river or lake in your country
You should say:

  • Which water body is that?
  • How do you know about it?
  • Why does it impress you so much

Sample Answer

Water bodies like rivers are of paramount importance for the survival of humans and other living organisms on this planet. Although my country has vast rivers like the holy Ganges and the mighty Brahmaputra , I’ll like to talk about the river Indus which is one of the longest rivers in Asia. I witnessed the beauty of Indus on my visit to Leh last year. Originating in the Tibetan plateau, the river runs a course through the Ladakh region of Jammu and Kashmir. Then it flows through the entire length of Pakistan before draining into the Arabian Sea. Going back in history, the Indus or Sindh river had a significant role in the development of the Indus valley civilization. The remains of ancient cities of Harappa and Mohenjodaro were found on the banks of this river. Indus merges with Zanskar river near a place called Nimoo , a few kilometres from Leh .The confluence point offers the most mesmerizing view which is a treat for the eyes. What is even more impressive that this river is the lifeline of people living in this otherwise arid and barren high-altitude desert. Indus remains frozen for almost a quarter of the year and locals provide ice skating facilities for the tourists. One of the locals told me that the blind Indus river dolphin is a sub-species of dolphin found only in the Indus river and is on the verge of extinction. Although Pakistan generates hydropower with the help of dams and barrages on Indus, there is none on the Indian side. In the end, I’d like to say that It’s our duty to conserve our precious water resources for the sustenance of life on the Earth and for the betterment of future generations.(290 Words)

Recently Bought Cue Card

SAMPLE ANSWER

E-commerce has come a few years back and changed the way we shopped, at least it has done for me. Recently, I bought a camera online. For a few months, I had been doing my research on the different cameras and found Nikon D5300 a really nice choice. I bought it from Flipkart and it arrived in really good condition. On the first day of its arrival, my friends and us, we all went hitchhiking along the streets of Delhi. We began with Chandani Chowk and then Rashtrapati Bhavan, moving on we went to Akshardham Temple and finally ended our day dancing at my friend’s house.

We clicked amazing photographs and made memories for life. The best thing about the camera was that it was really easy to use and very lightweight. For a very long time, I had enjoyed clicking photographs on other people’s camera and after working for an MNC, being able to buy one for me was a proud moment.

I had been planning on beginning a travel blog for a very long time. The coming of the DSLR had been perfect in my life. With it, not only was I able to click better photographs and learn the use of DSLR, I started getting really nice content for my blog. Looking back at it, sometimes I wonder how would have I done all of it without my camera!

CUE CARD – Describe a picture or a photograph

Talk about a Photograph you have in your home

You should say

  • What is happening in the photograph?
  • Where is it placed in your house?
  • When and Why was it taken?
  • And describe the photograph in detail.

IELTS Speaking latest cue card 2020. Describe a picture or a photograph in your home /room that you likeWhat is it about?

Sample Answer

Photographs capture moments in time clearer than our memories are capable of. Humans have used Photographs in abundance in the past decade to try and capture life’s most important and most trivial moments. This has led to a fad of over documentation, often at the consequence of missing reality to be able to capture it virtually.

Today I will talk about a very special photograph of me when I was around the age of 5. In the image, I am seen sitting in on ‘Santa Claus’s’ lap for a special Christmas event in a fully decked out mall. Behind one can make out a giant Christmas tree adorned with fairy lights and baubles; giant piles of decorative presents underneath.

My likeness can be seen wrapped up in a warm shawl and my very favourite red cap, rosy cheeks and the biggest grin as I had just wisped to ‘Santa’ my wish. ‘Santa’ had on a heavy blush, a nose red enough to make even Rudolf blush, and the classic half foot long white misty beard cum moustache.

The event was held every year on the days leading up to Christmas in most major malls, parents would take their children to see a friendly volunteer as ‘Santa’ who would listen to all the kid’s dreams, laugh a big belly laugh and give his blessings. Some days Book Readings were also conducted.

Back when the photo was taken, our family had just moved there and were unfamiliar with this custom, for it was our first Christmas in a Christian country. My parents tell me the photo might never have taken place had they not delayed their last-minute gift shopping. But I am glad the events played out the way they did; Else today I would not have this heartwarming image sitting framed in a cheesy glitter and mistletoe frame on our mantelpiece. It is a reminder to always smile and keep going, that is one image which will never become a waste of space.

Describe a picture or a photograph in your home/room that you like

  • What is it about?
  • Where is it in your home?
  • How you got it?
  • Why you like it?
SAMPLE ANSWER

Some photographs are for decoration while some capture the best moments of our lives and keep our memories of those cherished moments alive. A few months ago, I was going through my collection of photo albums when a family photo caught my attention. It is one of my favourite photographs where I am standing with my parents in front of the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France. It was taken several years ago when I visited Paris with my parents as a child.  I got it framed recently and it is placed on the wall above the study table in my bedroom.

Whenever I look at the picture it reminds me of the good times I had with my parents especially during that particular vacation abroad. I remember vividly, it was my birthday and this trip to see the Eiffel Tower was a gift from my parents. I can clearly recall how my parents had a small celebration near the water fountains and rows of flowers, where this picture was taken. It was one of the best birthday celebrations I ever had as a child.

My parents have grown old now and when I see this photo it brings back fond memories of my childhood. I don’t see them often now as I have moved to another city and whenever I miss them I have a look at the photograph. It doesn’t let me feel lonely and I feel them around me. Seeing my parents extremely young and lively in it brings a gentle smile on my face!
