IELTS Cue Card # Talk about any law in your country

IELTS Cue Card: Talk about any law in your country

You should say:
• What is the law?
• Why is it important?
• When was it implemented?
• Explain what steps have been taken to implement it.

IELTS Cue Card Sample Answer:

In my view, when it comes to effective administration in a large democratic country like India, the legislature needs strict laws. But, it should be taken into consideration that the government should not take away the rights and freedom enjoyed by its citizens. For this, the Indian constitution provides a powerful law. Today, I will be talking about a law which comes under the article 32 of the Indian constitution.
According to this law, any citizen of India can move to the supreme court directly if he finds any of his fundamental right unprotected and the apex court can issue a writ in that case. This law is also called the heart and soul of the Indian constitution.
This law has an immense importance. It not only acts as a safeguard of the fundamental rights of the Indian citizens but acts as a watchdog on the government. It applies reasonable restrictions on the ruling party and its wilful working style. In short, it provides a provision that the parliament cannot override the constitution in any case.
This law was implemented with the commencement of the Indian constitution on 26th January 1950. Interestingly, various judgements have been made in favour of this law since then. To be honest, I am not aware of any steps that have been taken to implement it.

Cue Card Sample Answer:

In today’s globalized world, English is considered as a lingua franca. Today, I’m going to talk about how I learnt this foreign language. Well, I have been in touch with English since my primary school. So, I am an early starter. But, to be honest, I didn’t take English seriously in my school days and studied this language just for examination purposes. Considering its difficulty level, I was well-versed with the reading and writing but I found it very difficult to communicate in English. When I reached the university level, I faced many problems while expressing my views. Therefore, I decided to pay attention to my communication skills, grammar and vocabulary. My English Professor has an imperative role in motivating me.
It’s been five years since I began working on my verbal communication skills. Today, I can confidently claim that I have effective presentation skills and my hard work has been paid off. As I am working as a human resource manager, English plays a pivotal role in my job. I have to interact with the staff members and clients on a daily basis. More importantly, to excel in my profession and to bring the best talent to my organization, I have to be a step ahead of others. Definitely, it won’t be possible without the knowledge of English language.

When You Forgot # Cue Card Tips

Describe an occasion when you forgot to do something important. Please say
– What was it?
– When and where did it happen?
– How did you feel after that?

SAMPLE ANSWER

Well, I usually do remember things as I have got a good memory but sometimes I tend to forget even important things if my life is already disturbed. I remember an incident when I forgot a very important work. It was during the time of placements in college and we all were very nervous and preparing for it. There were placement classes going on and other things were at high priority list. It was during this time, I forgot to pay my semester fee and after three days I was called by my class coordinator that I haven’t yet paid my fees. I was so stunned because there is a fine of Rs. 500 per day for late fee and three days meant Rs. 1500 which was a huge amount for me. I thanked my teacher and immediately went to the bank to pay the fee and also the fine.
On reaching home I felt really heavy but then also realized that this is what pressure handling is all about. You need to do things and yet make sure that you are still balanced and not missing out on other important things.

Sport You Love # Cue Card

CUE CARD

A SPORT YOU LOVE

you must say

What kind of sport is it?

Whom do you play the sport?

Where do you play it and why do you enjoy playing the sport?

ANSWER

Sports are a integral part of our lives. Those who don’t play sports surely do watch them. I enjoy playing both indoor and outdoor games, but, cricket is that one game that excites me the most. Going on to the field, wearing that uniform and hearing the crowd cheering for you is really my idea of fun.

Cricket is an outdoor game and it involves 11 players on each side. Each team has a captain and both batsman and bowlers. The most interesting thing is that although we can classify the players as batsman and bowlers, they all are very unique and have different skills sets.

I am a district level player, so I usually play with my team. We usually get to travel a lot for playing different matches all over the area. However, I even enjoy playing the game with my family and friends. It although has no specific rules but it is a great way to spend time with them and have fun.

Cricket to me is my life. I have learnt a lot from the game. It has taught me the art of patience and the importance of focus. Even more I have made friends for life because of cricket. This game lets me forget all the tensions of my life and just live, and so I just love playing it.
