A thing of beauty is a joy forever: its loveliness increases; it will never pass into nothingness. We all want to look beautiful, see beautiful things and be around beautiful people. But, beauty is something different for different people. Let us today have a look at some of the sample questions related to beauty that can be asked in IELTS Speaking question.

Do you think beauty is the same for every person?

I believe beauty is independent of everything. So, everyone sees it in a different way. For example, may be a bright coloured gown be beautiful for me but someone who likes cold colours might not love it. Or, someone may find peace and beauty while admiring a beach while for some it might bring in the waves of fear.

Do you think that different cultures think about beauty differently?

When it comes to outer appearance of beautiful, I think definitely yes. Cultures have their own implications of beautiful. For a country like India, may be a fair, long hair, traditional clothes kind of a girl might be beautiful but for someone in may be America, the beauty could be defined by some other parameter. Or like, people in the western find the eastern and south eastern countries beautiful and vice versa. But, in the end, when it comes to inner beauty, irrespective of the culture people have the same opinion.

What do you think of plastic surgery?

I think when it comes down to doing it for medical reasons, it is good, it is a boon. Like people who get burn, if they do it, I think it is acceptable. But, when it comes to enhancing yourself and trying to be someone you are not, I won’t prefer plastic surgery. It brings with it lot of complications. It might be possible that one does not like the changes after plastic surgery or may be plastic surgery does not goes well.

What is the most common plastic surgery in your country?

With fashion at its helm, breast augmentation is popular in my country. There are lot of women going for breast augmentation because of their interest in film industry. Even more, surgeries like ear lobe surgery or hair transplantation are very common in our country.

What does “Beauty is only skin deep.” mean?

It means that a person’s character is far more important than the physical appearance.

What kind of beauty contests are popular in your country? Do they have beauty contests for men too?

The most popular beauty contest in our country is Femina Miss India. It is through this contest that candidates for representing country in world and universe level contest are selected. Apart from this there are several beauty contest running at state level which are popular in our country. For men, there are contest like Mr. Gay India which represents India for Mr. Gay world globally.

What celebrities do you know of that have gotten plastic surgery?

I think most of them have done plastic surgery. Some have been in news as well for this. Celebrities like Priyanka Chopra, Juhi Chawla, Robert Pattinson,Preity Zinta, Madonna, Christina Augleria, Britney Spears and so many more.

Who is the most beautiful/handsome celebrity in your country?

The most beautiful has to be Aishwarya Rai. She is even regarded the most beautiful woman alive on Earth. Most handsome man, I think could be Virat Kohil, because he has definitely stolen many hearts.

What makes someone beautiful?

In my opinion, for physical appearance, a beautiful smile, innocence in the eyes does makes people beautiful. Other than that, a lovely caring heart with no ego and lots of love for people makes people beautiful.

Do you think science can measure beauty?

Too an extent logically it can, but when it comes down to measuring actual beauty the one that lies within, I really don’t think so. Because it is so diverse and different for everybody that measuring it and bringing it down to some written parameters might not be possible.

What  is your job?

Sample Answer 1:

I work with an IT firm as a software engineer. My task involves data analyzing, data cleansing and reporting. We work on projects. So, basically the company gets projects from other companies who need our services and we offer them. For example, a recent project that we worked on involved analyzing of data of Microsoft. Microsoft wanted to know certaj details such as which operating system was most famous, where are the sales of the company’s products high and what are the areas that they need to work on. So, we first got access to their internal database and then did some cleansing of data and further operations.

Sample Answer 2:

I am a teacher by profession and teach the junior school students , math and science. It is a great job to do, I think. I meet lot of people, get to know what goes on in the minds of a child. Why they do things their own way and it is very exciting to see how they deal with problems so differently. Some obey orders others do what they like while few will do exactly opposite of what you say. It is fun, exciting and challenging at the same time.

Sample Answer 3:

I am a travel blogger by profession and own my website, findingworld.com. It is all about travelling around the world as cheap as possible, making friends along way, meeting new people, getting to know about all the cultures around. So, my website contains interviews of the local people sharing with me the local stories, the fears and how they think the world all around has changed. Their own culture that has some how got mixed into the new modern world and everything happening in their lives.

I am an entrepreneur and own my shop at the Ho Chi Minh city center. We sell computer hardware components to other dealers and customers. We are a team of twenty people working from two centers. It is only few years back that we opened our second center and very soon we shall be expanding our business further by opening a branch in a near by city. There are certain things that we shall be adding as well. For example, we already have made our store smart by allowing card payment and installed CCTVcameras. With our new store we will be opening our online shopping website allowing customers to buy from our shop from as well.

There are so many people that we meet in our lives and then there are so many who stick with us for our entire lives but then there are some who are not able to stand the test of time. Yet, each friendship is unique and fills in our life so much of love. Let us today have a look at some of the time tested friendship.

How are your friendships different now than they were when you were a child?

As a child, everyone was my friend and yet no one was. I remember talking to certain set of people of some days and then talking to others on some other days. After some time, I met people with whom I chose to stick but the circle is somehow getting completed. Because, now I have lot of friends and the ones I hang out with change in every quarter or so.

How do you maintain a good friendship?

I think the only way to maintain good friendship is to make it transparent. When the other person knows you and understands your situations and trusts you that you will always say the truth, there are very few chances of ruining the friendship.

How do you make new friends?

There is never an attempt on my part to make friends deliberately. Yes, I do interact with people and for that matter lots of them and then during that interaction if I get to meet some people who are like minded and share the common worries we become friends.

How many people do you consider your “best friends?”

There are three people who are very close to me and know me inside out. They are the ones who understand me and know the things that I am facing, they know why I am reacting and there is so less to explain to them. So, I think these are the three people who are my best friends.

Is it common to have friendships across generations?

I don’t think so. I believe it is more common to have friendships in the same generation because there is this common view that the other might not understand us. But, when people from two generations become friends it is almost always amazing. Because there is so much that everyone can learn from each other.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of these types of friendships?

I think the major advantage is that everyone gets to learn a lot from the other person. Because both of them have different stance on the same thing and when these two stances meet, it is almost magical. On the other side, if people don’t understand that differences are bound to happen, friendships in two generations cannot happen.

Do you have any friends from a different generation than you?

Yes I do have. Over the years, my parents have become my friends and I do share a lot of things with them. They are the ones who get to know what is happening in my life, first and things get told to the other world after that. It is amazing because they know what is happening and they do realize it and give me the best advice.

There is a saying “To have a good friend, you need to be a good friend.” How can you be a good friend?

To be a good friend, you need to be truthful to the other person. There are times when you can help and times when you cannot. To tell things as they are, is what makes a good friend. And then, you need to be able to keep things to yourself because it is only then that the other person can trust you. Also, if you try to understand the opinion of the other person, you do become a good friend indeed.

What do you usually do with your friends?

Most of the times we have fun together and fun for us could be either playing badminton or coding together or may be just hanging out like that sharing things with each other.

What factors may result in the breakdown of a good friendship?

The biggest thing in breaking a friendship or for that matter any relation is silence. When we choose to not talk about things that hurt us. When we are not loyal to the other person. So, may be ditching them or telling lies about them. May be not understanding the other person.

What is a best friend?

A friend who knows you inside out, who understands your point of view, who might not always agree with you but for sure will always support you. Who knows that there are times when you are wrong and can show you the right path.

What is the longest friendship that you have had?

The longest friendship would be the one that is the most special to me. My friend Vipula, we have been friends since I was in 11th class. So, it is almost eight years of we knowing each other. We have talked lot of paths together and it has been an amazing journey together.
