Internet is one of the greatest discoveries mankind has ever made. We live in a globalised world where it has become so easy to pass information from one end of the globe to the other. Internet has changed the way we communicate and generate new ideas. It has given rise to numerous new organisations and billion dollar companies. Internet has become such an integral part of modern day society that most of our day to day activities depend upon the internet.
Q1.Do you use much during the day?
Ans.Yes, a lot of my day to day activities revolve around the use of internet. I majorly use internet for social media and to read news online. As internet has made banking services so convenient and its available 24*7, I use it to check my balance and keep a record of my transactions. For work related purposes I tend to use a lot of email and I have recently started writing content as a freelancer for a social media site. Writing content involves huge amount of research and access to loads of material which is only available on the net hence, I can say my life revolves around the internet nowadays.
Q2.What are some of the advantages of the internet?
Ans.The internet offers goods of advantages to the end user. There is an endless list that I can discuss here but my main focus will be on online shopping. Internet has changed the way we buy products. Global brands competing against each other selling millions of products over the internet has made it very convenient and beneficial for the consumer. With the click of a button goods are delivered to your doorstep and before buying the product one can read the reviews on the product left by various shoppers. Return policy is also very easy and it has also uplifted the postal services in the country as millions of products are shipped throughout the country using different courier and postal services.
Q3.Do people in your country use the internet a lot?
Ans.India is one of the largest users of internet in the world. With a massive population of 1.3 billion people and huge connectivity it has certainly changed the way we behave as a country. Smart phones are very cheap and internet tariffs cost second to none due to the ever growing competition in the telecommunication sector. Social media sites such as Facebook, Instagram, twitter etc are very popular among the young generation in the country. India has the largest number of active Facebook users in the world and global internet giants are looking at it as the next big destination to expand their business. Whatsapp (an end to end encrypted messaging application) is also very popular as it does not cost anything to send messages or to make calls through this app. This app uses data rather than using talk time or message allowance provided by your network provider.
Q4.Do you do any shopping on the internet?
Ans.Yes certainly, I shop for most of my stuff online. Busy schedule and massive work load has made it very difficult for me to step out and buy products that I need for my daily needs. Toiletries, clothes, electrical devices and groceries are products that I generally buy from the internet on regular basis. Recently I came across a website that sells fresh organic fruits and vegetables and offers next day delivery so I will be trying their services in the near future as I believe in sustained farming and organic farming promotes a healthy lifestyle.
Q5.What type of internet services do you use at your office?
Ans.Most of the work at my office is related to writing mails and marketing. We have various clients across the world and we have to communicate with them in their own language. Google translate and other translation websites are used very often to make contact with these clients and develop a professional business relationship. Financial transactions and card payments are also processed through internet as the client base is international. We have to process a wide range of electronic payments and use the banking facilities on a daily basis.

IELTS Speaking Sample Questions # Communication

IELTS SPEAKING SAMPLE QUESTIONS # COMMUNICATION , IELTSBAND7 DEHRADUNCommunication is the way in which people interact with each other and get their points across others. Opinions need to be shared and there are different ways of doing it. You can do it either using spoken words or using written words. This time we are looking at the different ways of communication.

What are the main differences between spoken and written communication?

Spoken and written communications are two different aspects of communication and come with their own varied differences. Written communication is stronger as compared to the spoken words because it is only when the words are written down so they get the meaning and confirmation to be true. However, in the scenario of informal language, it is often the spoken communication that gets the advantage over the written one!

To what extent do you think the media influences how people communicate with each other?

Media definitely has a major impact on the way people communicate with each. With the new age sources for communication, like twitter, youtube, facebook coming over in the scenario, people often express their opinions quite frankly. Even more, most people tend to use media for better communication while others have even created facades for communication.

Do you think there are differences in the way men and women communicate?

Men and women are two different species and so do have different ways of communicating. Their thought process is different and their way of communicating henceforth is unique. Although I am not in a favor of grouping the two, most men are likely to be a bit louder, use more humor and while communicating tend to use more flamboyant words. On the other hand, women are slightly gentler when talking. They tend to be more respectful of the other person and use gestures while interacting.

Do you think that people become better communicators as they get older?

Communication is something I believe comes with time. Some people tend to become better as they grow old, but I think it is more of a matter of experience rather than just age. For instance, someone who has always lived a bit aloof with most people might not be good at communicating with people when compared with someone who has been very indulgent with people around.

Do you agree that education has a strong and positive effect on people’s ability to communicate effectively?

Education does not teach much about communication when only going to school or colleges is considered. This is something that most of the generation gets to do. What matters is how the students have utilized the education system. Some of the students get bullied in schools and colleges and this does impact the way of their communication in later life.

What impact has the growth of technology had on the way people communicate and how do you think this will develop in the future?

Technology has seriously impacted the way people communicate more than anything else. The change from communicating over a letter to the smartphones has been dramatic. With technologies advancing, things are definitely going to get better or for that matter different. There is a possibility of being able to interact with people in virtual environments as well.

IELTS Speaking Cue Card Questions # Leisure Time

IELTS SPEAKING CUE CARD QUESTIONS # LEISURE TIME, IELTSBAND7, DEHRADUNLeisure time is the one where you are the master of the time! There is nothing to do that has been ordered by someone! You do what you wish to do, so it could be cooking or driving or sleeping or for that matter even dancing. This time we are looking at an IELTS Cue card that talks about the things that an individual likes to do during their leisure time.

Talk about something you like to do in your leisure time. You should say –

  • what is it?
  • why do you like it?
  • when did you picked it up?

also, explain, what will if you do if sparred from doing that activity.

SAMPLE ANSWER 1

Leisure time is the one time that I rarely get, but whenever I do get the time, I prefer reading books or listening to music. Reading has been my favorite since I was in my teenage years and it has helped me to grow as an individual. It taught me so much about different domains and helped me in understanding the new things that often come up in my life. For instance, it was when I read the autobiography of Gandhi that I learnt about the Indian politics.

It was during the final year of my college that I picked up the habit of reading and have not stopped much after that! During reading I used to mark the vocabulary words and read them through. Also, I would sometimes mark the paragraphs in the book and try to make notes of good learning’s provided in the book.

If someone tells me to never read a book in my life, I think I would then go for dancing. Dancing is something that fills my soul, it just energizes me and makes me feel happy about life. So, if not reading, I would be dancing my life through songs and making others happy.

SAMPLE ANSWER 2

Leisure time is the one time that we get to learn so much about ourselves. it is the time of our own and I usually prefer dancing in my leisure time. Dancing fills my soul with joy and helps me to understand life better. It helps in gaining different perspective about life and broaden my horizons.

I picked up dancing when I started working at a corporate company and started doing the basics. I enjoyed my time doing dancing in different clubs and the different forms of them. Sometimes, I enjoyed doing Bollywood and the other times I would enjoy doing Zumba.

After a few months, I started learning Kathak and now growing in Kathak. If not dancing, I think I would have went for acting. Acting is quite similar to dancing, one is allowed to be expressive and share their thoughts and opinions.

IELTS WRITING TASK 1 #COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE RECEPTION AREA, IELTS BAND7 DEHRADUN

Sample Answer

Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing you this letter in regards to the numerous complaints that we have received in relation to the reception area.
Most of the clients are not happy with the general cleanliness of the common area. The feedback forms filled by quite a few clients suggest that they were disappointed with the unpleasant behaviour of my colleague, Charlie. The waiting times have also risen drastically due to one of the check in counters not working and even though we tried to fix the faulty computer a few weeks ago all the effort went down in vain.
Our common areas get cleaned every 6 hours and I would suggest you to bring this down to every 3 hours. Charlie has had several personal issues recently and maybe you can approve his pending holidays so he can have some time off. We need a new computer as soon as possible and if you may please also order me a new mouse as the one for my computer is not very responsive.
Some of these matter require your urgent attention so please if you may sort these problems out as soon as possible.
Yours sincerely,
Adam Johnson
