IELTS Speaking Sample Questions # Animals

Animals are the part of our lives, whether we believe it or not. The food chain, the food webs and the ecosystem, they all make what we call our life. In this IELTS speaking section, we are looking at some of the questions related to animals asked in a recent IELTS exam.

Which animal do you find interesting?

There are many wild and pet animals to choose from but I find monkeys the most interesting. They are the hoppers, the go-getters, the friends. It is so easy to see them laughing with their friends or helping each other. Not only that, science predicts them to be closer to human species which makes them interesting to me.

What is your opinion about animals being kept in prison?

Keeping animals in captivity is one of the most horrendous of crimes humans do, in my opinion. We have become more greedy and selfish than ever before. For fulfilling our needs, we have taken away the habitats of animals forcing them into prisons. I have been to zoo few times and seen some of them depressed with their lifestyle.

Do you think government can do something about animals being kept in prison?

With the increasing human population and the human demands, freeing animals is not the most pragmatic thing to accept from our governments. But, I believe that animals should be kept in places closer to their habitats or similar to their habitat. Also, for animals on verge of extinction, special care must be taken.

How do you think government can protect animals from poachers, hunters, and people who kill animals for prey?

The government has to change their perspective from laws for people who kill towards how to protect. For instance, the security system must be tightened around the endangered species. Also, education can be used to impart the knowledge about different species. There can even be ad campaigns showing the different species and why they are important. Like, there are ads for smoking and cancer, so should be there for the safety of animals.

What is your opinion for using animals as beasts of burden?

I would choose the grey color. One cannot deny that we do need animals for carrying our burden sometimes, like donkeys for carrying good or horses for traveling or ox for pulling carts. But, the problem is when we overdo it. Making a donkey bare a load more than he can carry or not give enough food is something that must be refrained from. Also, with the advancement in technology, one can obviously look for the other alternatives.

Do you think that the relationship between animals and humans is changing or is likely to change in future?

Times are definitely evolving and things and relationships around us are changing, including the one between humans and animals. In the fast-paced life that we now live, no one has the time left to have a pet or take care of animals around! In earlier days, people ensure they had water and food on their rooftops for the animals and gave away food the street dogs. Although in towns still there is a connection between animals and humans, in cities it is slowing fading away.

IELTS Speaking Sample Questions # Accommodation

The place that we live in is the most important thing in our life. The people we surround ourselves with talk about our lives and make an impact on us. This time we are looking at IELTS speaking questions where we talk about the accommodation a person is living in.

Tell me about the accommodation you live in.

I live in a one BHK flat on shared basis. The house has two rooms along with a kitchen, and a garden. The house also has two elderly people living along with a family living upstairs. We share a nice comarade with all the people living in our home and it is really beautiful. The office that I live in is a walk away from the house and save a lot of commute time.

How long have you lived there?

It has been more than a year since I shifted to the new place that I currently live in. Before that, I had been living in a two bhk flat.

What do you like about living there?

The best part about living here is that I get to live with a lesser number of people. I can do almost everything that I wish for and do it on my own terms. Being a 23-year-old girl, I believe to be able to know what is the best for me has been the best decision I have made. I get to decide what comes in my house and what stays, also what is no longer required. Living in the house has given a lot of independence to me which I cherish.

What sort of accommodation would you most like to live in?

I would have loved living in a penthouse. There could nothing be more beautiful than living in one but there are even moments, I feel as if living with my family members at my home, even though it is small would also make sense to me.

Hometown is the one word that brings sparkles into the minds of people. If you are living far off from your parents the mere name of the place brings so much joy to you. But, what is a hometown? What kind of place is it?

My hometown is Dehradun, which is a small city yet the capital of Uttrakhand, a state in the northern part of our country. It is both traditional and modern because of the several festivals that are celebrated by the locals and modern with the new infrastructure being developed by the government. With it being the center for most of the tourist coming it has become the tourist capital of Uttrakhand. With increasing number of infrastructure and establishment, it is becoming on par with the modern cities of our country.

What is the most interesting part of your town or village?

There are many things that I love about my hometown, but the most interesting thing is that the entire city is in circles. You can never get lost in the city, maybe because it is small. There is a different kind of stalls all around the city, one can go and find the most elite of the things as well as cherish the local foods. I think what makes my hometown special is is the fact that you can find a mixed bag of people. With it having a lot of educational institutes, students from across the country come over to study and their innocence and different backgrounds, make it worthwhile.

What kind of jobs do the people in your town or village do?

Most people in my town are either into education industry or bankers. Being the education hub, one can find the elite schools of our country, like Doon, Welhems in the city. Would you say it is a good place to live in? Why?

If someone is looking for a well-settled life with less of juggling and more of peace, I would suggest my town to the person. With places like Mussoorie near to Dehradun, one can find easy escapades from the place. Even more, there is less of commute required in the place and that saves a lot of time. The weather is beautiful with a lot of rains and sometimes snow. One can find the basic necessities along with a comfortable life.

IELTS Speaking Sample Questions # Photograph

Describe a time when someone took a nice photograph of you. You should say :

  • when was it taken?
  • who took it?
  • what was happening?

also, explain, why did you like it?

SAMPLE ANSWER

Photographs are an important part of my life and I believe they do capture moments that help us cherish the memories in so much better ways. Although, I do not like clicking single photos, I remember one particular photo of mine.

We had went to Visakhapatnam on an office trip and were relaxing on the beach. It was during that period I had recently bought a DSLR camera for myself and was busy clicking photographs of everyone. After few places, we landed up in Yarada beach. It is one of the most beautiful rock beaches in Vishakapatnam.

We were chilling on the rocks sitting together when my eyes struck the ocean and I got lost in its beauty. It was a far fetching port and one could clearly see the rocks on one side and the blue sea on the other. At one point a ship was crossing the sea and I clicked a photograph. Later, I came to know that a colleague of mine clicked a photograph of me capturing the ship.

The photograph captures me in between the rocks and the sea looking at the far fetched sea. To me, it reflects the person I am. Carefree, lovable and far sighted. It shows my love for camera and ocean, making it one of my favorite pictures.
