Sample Answer

Art and craft are highly engaging and entertaining activities, and many people work on different arts and crafts during their leisure time. I also like doing art and craftwork such as pottery, origami, and painting. I am more involved with craft work, especially with toys and trinkets, and I have made a lot of small toys for toddlers.

I have a young friend in my neighborhood who plays cricket with me. While we were speaking one day, he told me about his fondness for cars. He also told me that almost all of his toys were cars, and he played a lot with them as well. At that moment, an idea struck me. I came back to my home and quickly took out a small battery operated motor that was lying around unused. My idea was to use that motor to make a homemade toy car and gift it to him. I went around the house in search of materials such as cardboard, nuts, bolts, bottle caps, wires, and batteries. After collecting all the items, I assembled the car and worked on it until I was satisfied with the result.

It took me two days to complete the toy car, fortunately in time for his birthday on the weekend. Thinking that it would be a sensible gift, I had painted it and gift wrapped it as well. On his birthday, I gave him the car as a gift, and he liked it a lot. He said that the gift meant a lot to him. Due to this, I felt elated and proud of my skill and my idea.

Grammar and vocabulary make up half of your speaking and writing scores! They both form 25% of your writing AND your speaking score.

In the listening and reading tests you need to have accurate spelling (so you need to know a lot of words!) and you also need good grammar so you can make sure the sentences make sense!
We at IELTS BAND 7 make sure that our students concentrate on their grammar and vocabulary each and every time they write, read and speak.

Sample answer

Leisure activities are interesting pursuits that we all do during our time off from work or studies. There is a variety of such activities ranging from reading to arts and crafts that one may take up as a hobby or an extracurricular activity. I have had many personal favorites over the years, but my most favorite leisure activity is driving. I really like to drive my car whenever I have some time to myself. I have done a lot of solo driving trips to many different places. While some are near to my place, some are far away as well.

Driving cars is a passion for me, and I learned driving as soon as I turned 18. Since then I have spent a huge part of my relaxing time behind the wheel. I really enjoy the feeling of being on the open roads, maneuvering a huge machine while listening to my favorite songs. It is a very beneficial activity as it allows me to explore and travel to new places in a comfortable and safe manner. I have spent many weekends camping out in remote villages and dense forests, learning new things and meeting different kinds of people. The best part about driving as per me is the thrill of the empowering feeling that driving a car gives me.

I purchased my own car last year and now spend my weekends going to new places and driving the car around with friends or alone. It has almost become a routine activity and I am very fond of it.
