IELTS Speaking 2017 Questions # Watches

The world has advanced and every gadget that we used earlier has now come to fit in our pockets. From watch to the media players, camera, and almost everything. This time we are looking at one such gadget which used to part of our daily lives and how to people use it now.

Did you wear a watch when you were a child?

I don’t clearly remember wearing a watch while growing up on daily basis. However, whenever those fancy watches used to come around, I have always tried them. Sadly they did not work out for a long time, but it was always fun to have them. But, as I reached by Intermediate College I did start wearing watches on a regular basis.

Do you think children should wear a watch? Why/Why not?

In my opinion, a child should wear a watch because it teaches the importance of time. Since it is ticking almost everytime on your hand, one subconsciously becomes aware of time passing by and understands the importance of it.

Can you think of one reason why some people like to wear expensive watches?

One of the main reason could be that they themselves are rich, so surely one would like to go for expensive things in their bucket! Most of the people do it as a reward for achieving something… There are many who take them in a traditional way. So, a watch is something that passes on to generations. Having an expensive one adds on to it. Even some people go for the handmade watches. Well, few do it to save the handcraft others do it because it is more personalised and so more close to heart.

How do you travel from your home to work? How long does the journey normally takes?

I am a pedestrian so I commute by walking from home to work. Well, it is also because my office is very close to my house so using anything else does not make sense. Mostly I go with my friend to the office and the journey is all about talking things here and there.

What do you usually do while travelling?

I love taking pictures so whenever I travel, I am mostly taking pictures and listening to music. If it is a road trip to a place I prefer collecting the local stuff that symbolises the importance of the place.

IELTS Speaking 2017 Questions #Celebrate birthday

IELTS is conducted almost every day and there is no dearth of topics on which questions can be asked in IELTS speaking section. This time we are looking at a recent question set.

How do you celebrate your birthday now?

Celebrations have changed over a period of time and the way I celebrate it now is very different from earlier. Now, birthday celebrations are more of surprises. Sometimes my friends come over and surprise in a certain, sometimes the other way. Earlier, it used be a planned celebration at house, now it is mostly travelling on that day, going out with friends to discover new horizons. The celebrations have changed but the fact that it is celebrated with the loved ones still remains the same.

How were the birthdays celebrated when you were a child?

As a child, I used to have those fancy celebrations where my mother would take care of almost everything. Arranging party, the guest list and so much more. For me birthdays were all about enjoying with my friends and eating cake, the one my father was responsible for.

Do you think celebrating birthdays is important?

I think celebrations are surely an important part of our lives and birthdays are something we must surely celebrate. However, in my opinion, celebrating does not always means spending money on parties. I remember a friend of mine, on his birthday he would give gifts to the poor. It was amazing of reminding yourself that your presence does make people happy.

In your country, which is the most celebrated birthday?

In our country, birthday of Jawaharlal Nehru is the most celebrated birthday. On his birthday, the entire country celebrates, Children day because he loved children. Lovingly called ‘Chacha Nehru’ which means Uncle Nehru by the kids, Jawaharlal Nehru gave emphasis to the significance of giving love and affection to children, who are the bright future of India. On this day, most schools have fest for the students and other cultural events all over.

IELTS Speaking 2017 Questions # Media and News

Times have changed and well they have changed dramatically! We are in an era where the world is always aware of everything around. The media has become stronger than ever and news is everyone’s favourite. Because, gone are the days when only the World War made news, in present times, even the birth of a celebrity’s child is considered a big news. We are now looking at the recent questions asked in the IELTS speaking section related to media and news.

Why do you think people often do not share a good news with other people?

I believe the world has changed faster in the few past decades than it has ever in centuries. The world has become competitive to an edge where everyone is bothered about being the best. In this world of the rat race, people have started taking each other as mere competitors. In my opinion, it could be one of the reasons people do not share the good news. Other than this, everyone has become quite isolated and has lost the quality of satisfaction. Getting one thing always opens up doors for something leaving no time to share it with others.

How has the social media changed the way we share the news with other people?

Social media has had a huge impact on the way the world functions. We have surely moved from days when people shared news through regions and then letters. We have even grown apart from calling each other. It is all about now, sharing news on WhatsApp or Facebook. The twitteratis tweet about it and some others share videos online! From having intimate conversations, we now prefer sharing things to a group of people. Apart from the personal news, even the world or international news, people often read about them in their social media news feeds.

Is there any recent international news you felt was indeed good to hear?

Recently, I was surfing the internet and was really worried because I could not find any good news. I wanted to hear something really good. In the middle of searching, I came across a news where the ISIS had brutally destroyed a church in Iraq while ruling there. When the Muslims of this state came to know about it all the able-bodied men and women came together to build the church. The reason I really liked it is because it proves that no matter how many times we are told the differences of the religions, in the heart of the common man, we all are one.

How important is it to know the world news?

I believe it is crucial to know both the world and national news. Knowing news gives you the ability to question actions and things happening. A person might not be able to relate to the decision taken by his or her country without the awareness of the international ongoings. Not only this, a person who reads news also develops the ability to hold a conversation.
