This time we are looking at a cue card that talks about a person you recently met and had a good impression on you.

Describe a person you recently met and you would like to meet him or her more. You should say:

  • who is the person?
  • what did you talk about?
  • why would you like to meet again?

also explain, what impressed you about him or her?

SAMPLE ANSWER

I am a volunteer for a club in our organisation that looks into the grievances of our employees and tries to make the company a better place to work at. Because of this, I often get to meet a lot of new people. Today, I am going to talk about a person who really impressed me. It was the 15th or 16th of May and our group was planning and organizing an event where leaders had to interact with the employees and understand their grievances.

After the event was over, we started heading back to our cubicles when one of the participants came up and started some small talk. After after few days, the guy pinged me and we met over a cup of tea. He told me about so many issues that employees were facing and then we shifted our conversation towards how to improve the organisation. It was a fascinating discussion and we decided to meet again and to do something about it.

The one thing that I really liked about him was that he did not limited himself to just an idle conversation or an event. I saw in him the passion for doing something good and even if took him to places unknown he was ready for it. There are very few people who have the courage and I think he really did inspire and impress me a lot.

The modern lifestyle is definitely a busy one and the workload of studies becomes very tiring sometimes. In such situations, a day off or a holiday is always a welcome treat. I have had many such breaks from work but a memorable experience was during my first job.

It was during the summers right after my graduation and I was working on a project with a deadline that was very near. Soon my team completed the project and we were rewarded with a day off after the submission date. This was a rather unexpected surprise but definitely a pleasant one. It was a Wednesday and I remember having a very tranquil day. In fact, I had spent the whole day unwinding as per my whim more than the usual holidays.

I woke up an hour later than I usually do on weekdays and spent the morning riding my motorcycle to a faraway cafe for a morning ride coupled with a breakfast. Later in the afternoon, I lazed around the house reading a book. I had ordered food from a nearby restaurant as I did not want to cook. In the evening, I went to meet a friend and we had a long conversation with delicious food and cold drinks. I then returned to my house at around ten in the night and drifted off into a deep and comfortable sleep.

Overall, it was a relaxing day because it came as a reward after a lot of hard work. Naturally, I was feeling good about it and wish for more such days to keep coming up on my calendar.

I am very particular about buying things. I prefer to purchase those items only which I require the most. I can recall one incident here when I bought something out of excitement but later couldn’t use it a lot.

It was my brother’s wedding two years ago. It was the last wedding of my generation. We had all the necessary arrangements done. We had a photographer to capture the moments of the main rituals, however for rest of the events, I decided to shoot myself. Although I am not a professional photographer, I like photography. I spent a huge amount in buying a new DSLR Nikon camera. I used that camera during his pre-wedding ceremonies only and after that I didn’t use it a lot. No such events took place after that where I could show my photography skills. Another reason is that my busy working hours don’t allow me to go for holidays as well where I can capture some moments. I am working in a company where my 24×7 attention is needed. That is why I don’t get enough time to pursue my hobby of photography. I still keep that camera but did not use it a lot.

It’s a pity that I am unable to use it frequently and certainly there is no use of keeping it for a long time. I am planning to gift it to my niece who is also very fond of photography. She wants to pursue a course related to photography after her 12th exam. This camera will be very useful for her. I wish she may continue using it.

My whole family is a travel freak. Every year during summer vacation we make a plan to explore a new destination across the globe. While choosing a destination we always keep in mind preference of each family member. We’ve visited many countries of the Middle East, like Egypt, Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan, and a few countries from the Eastern region like Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand etc.  Now, we are keen to visit whole Europe, There are many countries in the Europe and covering all the countries in one go cannot be possible. We always prefer to visit each destination thoroughly that is why we have decided to take one destination at a time. This year we all have decided to go to Italy. The main reason behind choosing Italy as our first travel destination in Europe is that my father was a history teacher before retirement. He used to recite many stories about Roman history, his stories have inculcated interest in us to visit Italy one day. Italy is called the golden boot of Europe as it has a boot shape picture in European map.

There are various other reasons as well behind selecting Italy as a first country to get into Europe. Not to speak of only rich cultural heritage of Italy, this country is full of monuments, sculptures and many others breathtaking views. Rome is famous for one of the seven wonders of world, the leaning tower of Pisa. Venice and Florence cities are famous for its natural beauties. Because of its picturesque views many Hollywood and Bollywood movies have also been picturized there.

Italian cuisines are world famous. Who doesn’t know about mouthwatering Italian pizzas? They are the talk of the world.
