IELTS Speaking Part I Sample Questions # Toy

Growing up is the most beautiful thing about life because when you grow up you start understanding things in a more beautiful way. However, we still cherish our childhood as the best part of our lives. This time we are looking at something without which our childhood can never be complete, toys.

Did you like toys as a child?

As a child, when everyone else was fascinated by toys, I preferred playing with my friends rather than toys. Yes, I did like toys but not to an extent where I could spend my days with the toy.

What was your favorite toy?

Growing up Barbie has been one of the most sought after toy of our generation and I was no exception to it. I loved Barbie and the little amazing thing called Barbie house. I remember a friend of mine had the largest collection of Barbie and Barbie houses. We friends would go to her house and play with them. Dress the barbie for a party and so much more!

Should parents buy many toys for their children?

Toys surely are important for children but I think parents must focus more on getting sports equipment for their children rather than toys. Learning a sport teaches so much more to a child than a toy can ever do. A sport offers a child learnings like a team player, leadership, focus, patience, hard work and so much more! Or probably some other artistic form like guitar or painting. For a child, it is important that he or she works on his or her extracurricular activities more than anything else.

What are the benefits of children playing with toys?

Toys have an impact on children like no other thing. A baby is curious to learn about the world around them and they have so much to learn. Every new shape and color and the voice teach a lot of things to the infants. Different contrasting colors develop the vision and toys like building blocks help in hand-eye coordination. Growing up there are toys like letters and the one on language skills, that help a child in improving more.

What are the disadvantages of children playing with toys?

Toys do make children learn a lot of things but in turn having less number of toys is more beneficial than having lots of them. With fewer toys, a child learns to use his or her imagination to make games.Children with fewer toys establish better social skills. They learn how to share and develop a greater love for reading, writing, and art. Also, a child with fewer toys is more likely to be less selfish because he or she knows that they are not getting everything!

IELTS Speaking Part I Questions # Robots

We are in living in times when technology has advanced to an extent where machines are now able to do almost everything. The human effort has reduced and people predict automation taking away a lot of jobs. This time we are looking at some questions asked in a recent IELTS speaking exam in Part I related to robots and relationships.

Do you think robots are becoming more common in society nowadays?

We are surely moving towards a society that will be entirely dependent on robots. In present times, however, I think yes robots are becoming common but still, the society in large is still not very comfortable using robots as human robots. For instance, we do have driverless cars but the trust on them is yet to be built. There are people trying but it will take some time before robots become part of our lives.

What do you think about cars driven by robots?

Driverless cars are becoming the talk of the town for sure and in my belief, they surely are the future of our society. In terms of its limitations, I think with them, the man might surely become lazier. However, on its positives, people with special gifts could be able to drive a car and go to places. Even more, it will become easier for the old people to commute. But, it will take some time for these cars to mature to avoid accidents and build their trust.

Do you enjoy going out with your friends?

Surely I do. I love going out with my friends to unknown places and spending time with them, figuring out how things are. It is always amazing to have road trips with them and then pull each other’s legs!!

What kind of things do you usually do when you go out with your friends?

Most of the times we all go out for a movie or to a location we have never been. We sometimes even have dinner but I think the best times that we have together is on each other’s house. We are usually laughing off at our problems and then disussing the serious things in our life in a joking way.

How important is to have good friends? Why?

I believe it is very important to have good friends in our life. There are very few people who can become our best friends or soul mates, but it is important to have certain good friends. I think life becomes much more beautiful when you have good friends to share your moments with. The moments could be of joy or sorrow. Living life as an individual is good but when you have people to share it with, it becomes better.

IELTS Speaking Sample Questions # Leisure Time

Work is surely worship but then there is so much more than work. Life is when you let your work take a chill pill and relax some time with people you love doing things that you enjoy doing. This time we are looking at some sample questions that can be asked in the IELTS speaking section Part I.

What do you do in your spare time?

I love reading and writing when I have some free time available. Apart from these, I also like playing badminton. So, whenever I do get time, I usually read, write or play badminton.

What do you do to relax yourself?

For relaxation, I prefer taking a short nap. It could be either for 20 minutes or may be an hour. But, nothing helps me relax better than some sleep.

What do you usually spend your weekends?

During the weekdays, most part of the evenings usually gets lost doing the office work. But, during weekends, I work on my blog for the entire day and so during evenings I usually spend some time with my friends, going on long walks together or have dinner at their place.

What do you usually do after work or classes?

There is nothing much that can be done after work because it really becomes quite tiring. So, most of the times I am either working on my blog or writing something or some drafts, here and there.

Do you prefer staying at home or going out during evenings?

I love taking long walks. So, if I am not busy at something during evenings, I usually take long walks with my friends or for that matter even alone at times.

Do you think modern lifestyles give enough time to people for leisure?

I think it depends on the kind of modern lifestyle an individual is leading. So, a person doing a corporate job might have less time to spare for leisure activity but probably a person who does freelancing will find more time to leisure. Not because a work is less time consuming but because the way things get done in each. Even more, I think it all depends on how the person sets priorities for themselves.

Do you think people today have more time to relax as compared to that in past?

I certainly believe that people are more busy when compared with their past counterparts. Earlier people lived a content life but with changing times people are less satisfied with what they have and are always on the look out of doing more. This has made lives much more hectic than ever.

What do you think is the importance of leisure time in life?

Leisure is the one thing that makes the life worth living. I surely believe that apart from the daily mundane activities a person should always try to do things that makes him or her happy. It could be either something that he or she likes doing or could even be some person one likes spending time with. It is only through this that a person is able to enjoy life.

Do you think old and young people spend their leisure time in the same way?

I believe it is not about young and old, it is more about individuals. I have seen old people party harder than some of the young chaps out there and then some young people reading better than the wiser older people. In my opinion, it is all about the individual choices that people make.

Do you like to travel in holidays?

Well, I love travelling not only because everyone else does but because for me travelling teaches so much more to me than anything else can ever do. Also, travelling allows me to explore myself and the world in ways that opens up my horizons, giving me a broader aspect of life.

If you had a child, what leisure places would you go with your child?

I think I would like to take my child to library and a field ( could be of any game) as part of leisure activity. Also, I would love to travel with my child because in my opinion, a child learns so much more from travelling, history and art than he or she can ever learn from any of the text books or any motivational videos.
