An ideal pattern for IELTS essay writing

Many students get confused how they are supposed to write an effective essay to score a high band in writing task 2. Here are some tips to improve your writing skills as well as to be familiar with the pattern of IELTS writing exam. An ideal essay should contain all the required information asked in the question topic. IELTS Essay must be at least 250 words.

1) Introduction

An ideal introduction should have only 3 to 4 sentences. Many students make mistake in the introduction and they start discussing about the whole idea of essay in the introduction part. In this paragraph, we generally try to give the introduction of the topic and our inputs about the topic that we will be discussing in the body paragraph. You can follow the below steps for writing an introduction.

1st Statement: A general statement about the question

2nd Statement: Rewrite the question in your own language.

3rd Statement: Thesis statement

2) Body Paragraph

A body paragraph can have two or three separate paragraphs as per the content. One has to keep in mind that for one idea we make one paragraph. An ideal discussion should concentrate on one idea thoroughly and for another idea there should be a separate paragraph.

For example, if we are discussing the pros and cons of Computers, all the benefits should be in one part of the body paragraph and drawbacks should be in another paragraph.

3) Conclusion

In the conclusion part of the essay, we just give the overall idea of our writing by summarizing the main points. We preferably do not require to write more than 3 to 4 sentences. Avoid using any new additional point or example. Essay tips find here..

Sample Answer

Dear Jimmy,

How are you doing? Hope this letter finds you well. It’s been really long since we last met.

I’m excited to let you know that I’ve shifted to a new house, a fortnight back. Things have settled down and I’m planning to organize a house warming get-together this month end, preferably on the 28th. Since, it’s a long weekend, you can come on the 27th itself. This would be a great opportunity for us to spend some quality time together. We haven’t really been able to bond up since you moved to the suburbs for your job.

I can’t wait to tell you about the house, it’s just what I always dreamt of. The location is a little off the city centre, away from the maddening traffic and noise. The best part is that it’s a ground floor independent house which comes with a garden and a backyard. The garden has some lovely fruit trees, giving it a rustic appearance. It’s amazingly serene to stroll there while hearing the birds chirping in the background.

What I really like about the place is that it brings the best of both the worlds. Not only do I get to enjoy the countryside calmness but also am able to avail good transport system and all other amenities of a city life. It’s very comfortable to reach the office in the mornings and do my grocery shopping during the weekends. My parents too have adjusted very well to the new place. Moreover, the house is spacious with three big bedrooms making it easy to accommodate our guests.

I can’t wait to see you on the 27th. Give my regards to your mum and dad.

Best wishes,

Dave.

Resume Tips

Most of the people are busy making careers in their country, but if you are the one, who has decided that abroad is the place for you and you need to do a job in some country abroad, the first step towards getting a job is having an excellent resume.

There are several things to watch out for when writing an international resume. Undoubtedly, it requires highlighting several things in detail, such as skills, language, traveling descriptions, etc. Let us have a look at some of the resume tips that can help you write attractive resumes –

  1. Career Objective – This is the section where you need to convey the recruiter about your area of interest and about what you are looking for in a job. What you write in your resume is simply a follow up of your career objective.
  2. Education- Mentioning your education helps the recruiter to gauge through your knowledge and skill. However, when applying abroad, you are not applying just because there is a vacancy, you are applying because you need a job. In this case,it is advisable to address your knowledge and skills with relevant examples such as projects, internship, study abroad (if any), and the knowledge of a foreign language.
    3. Work Experience – Employers look for people who are self-starters, independent and have managerial skills. You can always emphasize on your work experience and transferable skills. No matter, the experience was small, it always acts as brownie points for you. It could be as small as getting a job at a coffee shop or opening your own company.

4. Professional And Personality Traits – A person when giving you a job abroad              will always look for traits such as ability to adjust to the cultural difference and new              challenges. So, mention such traits, show them that you are like able and potential              employee for the company.

5. Resume Length- Usually, the length of a resume for a recent graduate remains             one page, whereas, a candidate with several years of work experience,                                  achievements and number of employers have more information to share, hence                 the ideal length becomes a two-page resume. In case of an international resume,                  the candidate requires to mention all the above points in detail. Hence, the length                can go up to 3 or 4 pages. However, you need to make sure that  whatever you                   write in it is relevant.

So, go on, write that master piece and get the desired job.
