IELTS Writing Task Essay # government should spend money on providing faster transport, while others consider that there are other priorities for public transport.

IELTS Writing Task Essay

Some people think that government should spend money on providing faster transport, while others consider that there are other priorities for public transport (example- cost, environment). Discuss both the views and give you opinion?

SAMPLE ANSWER-

There is an ongoing debate related to how the government should utilize the national income of the country on transportation. Some people believe that improvement in the infrastructure of streets and highways should be prioritized by the state while others believe that they should focus more on other sectors of the society. According to me, both conditions must be provided with proportionate attention from the state, as it is valuable for the whole nation.

In this fast paced world, rapid and advanced mode of transportation is more preferred by the majority as it will help improve the overall life quality of the citizens. Improving and getting advanced public transportation will help improve the productivity of the citizens as public transit will get more convenient. Furthermore, faster transport infrastructure will add speed and efficiency to a nation’s progress.

On the other hand, some individuals are of the opinion the government to primarily focus cost effective and eco-friendly public transport. They should prioritize issues related to vehicular pollution and cost efficiency of public transport rather than public transport advancement. In fact, the government of India came up with the idea of ‘Smart Cities’ with the program to build efficient ecofriendly public transportation and walkable spaces for the pedestrians as well. Therefore, by building more cost-effective transport for the public, the state can invest in other essential sectors of health and education.

In a nutshell, I believe that the government should focus on improving the quality of public transit. But the authorities should not ignore other important sectors that demand their attention and national income of the nation.

IELTS writing task # What are the pros and cons of buying food rather than cooking food?

IELTS writing task

What are the pros and cons of buying food rather than cooking food? Give ideas about which is a better way according to you and why?

 SAMPLE ANSWER-

Modernization has influenced people’s way of maintaining a lifestyle. As modern working lives are getting busier, individuals tend to have less time to prepare a full cooked meal for themselves and their families. People buy food from outside as they do not get time from hectic schedules for cooking meals. However, purchasing food from the market has its own benefits and drawbacks.

Readymade or processed food is gaining immense popularity mainly because of the convenience provided by it. Purchasing food from outside saves time. The market has healthier options these days to choose from. For example, many outlets like ‘Subway’ mention the calories of food item therefore, people can choose accordingly. In fact, eating readymade food helps one to manage time more efficiently.

On the contrary, consuming food from the market has its own drawbacks. They can be expensive and heavy on the pocket as well. Food for the market is an unhealthy option as readymade food is oily and high in fat content. Furthermore, market food is low in nutritional ingredients and they are many cases in which processed food causes food poisoning. At times the ingredients are not fresh as the producers focus more on the appearance of the food rather than its freshness.

To conclude, though people today are occupied in their busy working schedules, they should take out time to prepare meals at home. In my opinion, eating readymade food can be regarded as a treat for the employed adults occasionally but the advantages of home-cooked food outweigh those of readymade and processed food.

IELTS Writing # Many people think that government should spend more money on providing faster means of public transport

IELTS Writing Task

Many people think that government should spend more money on providing faster means of public transport . Some others think that there are important priorities (eg: cost, environment). Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

Sample Answer

In this era of modernisation, people are commuting more in order to reach their workplace. Thus, there is a need to improve the modes of travel. Although several individuals argue that authorities should spend more on bullet trains and metropolitan railways, others think that environmental impacts and cost of living should be kept in mind. In my opinion, they should ameliorate the present transport facilities in order to increase their daily output.

There could be several factors contributing to the view of upgradation of transportation facilities. Firstly, it will save the travel time of the commuters. They need not depart early in the morning to reach their offices. In other words, it will increase their productivity level. Secondly, it also allows them to spend more time with their family thereby getting more time to revitalize themselves for the next day. Also, there are many countries who are consistently working on the improvement of commuting facilities. For instance, Japan has grown as one of the leading countries in the last few decades in terms of faster and efficient transportation.

In spite of these considerations, there are others who believe that cost and environmental conservation are the two areas that need to be focused. The use of bullet trains and other faster means of commuting would inflate the travelling expense of the commuters due to increased ticket charges. This can become a major issue for low-income groups, thereby increasing their cost of living. In addition, the government would accumulate funds from the revenue generated by taxpayers which will again be a burden to normal public. Furthermore, the use of such transport methods may cause air pollution consequently leading to the health hazards.

To reiterate, I believe that there are a plethora of long-term benefits of improved methods of transportation, but we cannot be oblivious to its impacts related to cost and environment.
