SAMPLE ANSWER

Dear Madam,
I am sorry I have not written for so long. My work keeps me so busy, that I never have a minute to myself. I am writing to tell you about how fantastic the book was.

The book I am talking about is “the mocking bird by Harper lee”.I know it has been long since I took the book and I am really sorry for it. But the book was truly awesome. I remember re reading the entire book five times because of its lovely content. In some sense, the book was a true eye opener.

It shows in a very subtle manner the issues that people from backward classes or the minorities face. Even better it tries to bring to notice the fact that no matter what the big issues are prevailing there are still some people who are moved by the feeling of being human.

Ma’am I had read the entire book five months ago but then I got a call from the BBC to be a part of a new tv series covering the entire India. I was so very excited that I just forgot. It is only now that I have come back and saw the book lying on my desk. I am yet again sorry for the delay Ma’am and I hope you will understand my situation.
With love and many thanks from me.

  • As this is a semi formal letter shouldn’t we start with the last name of the teacher, as Dear Mrs. Gregory.

Is it good to write ma’am?
