    • Why was it unusual?
Sample Answer

I consider that one of the finest ways to learn about global traditions is to sample a variety of cuisines. I eat a lot, therefore I enjoy trying new foods and introducing my tongue to new flavors. In addition to engaging in sports like scuba diving and rafting on my most recent trip to Goa, I learned about the region’s rich culture and the history of Portuguese culture. One restaurant in Goa is well known for its delectable food and excellent service. Prior to my visit, I had already made up my mind about what I was going to do, so I was eager to give it a try. I decided to try eating fish since I had never done it before. A nutrient-rich diet like seafood has a number of health advantages. Vitamins and minerals are abundant in fish. Sadly, the dish did not taste as good as it initially appeared to. I was absolutely ignorant of the fact that they contained various ingredients. Those who are not habitual to this may find these substances to be extremely peculiar. I ended up throwing up in the washroom moreover I may not give it a second chance in the future.

Sample Answer 1

I have had conversations with a lot of people, but today, I would like to talk about a time when I got acquainted with an old person who must be around in his seventies. His name was Dalbeer Singh, and he was a retired army officer who served thirty glorious years of his life in the service of this nation.

I met him at a party where I saw him sharing his experiences with others, and people surrounding him holding glasses in their hands and laughing crazily. I felt like there was a separate party going on. When I asked my father about him, he introduced me to him once the crowd cleared. Initially, I could not talk to him as I struggled a lot at initiating conversations, so instead he started the talk by asking me about my studies and career choices. I was quite piqued by his personality, especially his lively nature at an age like that. His experiences in life were a source of great learning, not just for him but for me and everyone else around him as well. He just made me feel so comfortable that I started sharing my views quite openly without having any fear of judgement.

Even till date I ask him for the solutions whenever I am faced with adversities in life. Moreover, his optimistic attitude towards life is something I really look up to inculcate in myself. Thus, this was an old person I met recently.

His name is Gajendra Rawat and he belongs to one of the most picturesque districts of Uttarakhand, which is Pauri Garhwal. My father loaded me with great excitement as he had told many interesting stories about him on the way so I was highly enthusiastic about meeting him . He is my father’s friend and had invited us to a party where my father introduced me to him and I got to know that he mentors IAS aspirants. It really intrigued me because he is an elderly person, around 60 or 65, short in height with white hair tied back in a ponytail and had a hat on. He seems to demonstrate the adage that looks can be deceptive, as he proves that right. Mr Rawat is blessed with a great sense of humour and has enormous knowledge, especially about the geography and history of the world, which charmed me a lot. Our second meeting was at his coaching centre where I shared my life goals and questions which he addressed intensely and offered pertinent  guidance.  I got to know that we both share similar interests in tracking and I  was blown away to know that he had completed one of the toughest tracks and has received many accolades from the state government. • Who the person is?
    • How do you know the person?
    • What type of plants does he/she grow?
    • Why does he/she grow plants?
Sample Answer

Since my neighbor is a true environmentalist, I’ve decided to talk about her. She is the only person who comes to mind when I read this cue card right away since her zest and enthusiasm for home gardening has always motivated me. She is my grandmother and is well-known in my neighborhood, because of her affinity for gardening.

She had indulged in gardening ever since she was a child. I must admit that she tends to her plants in her garden most of the time. Her entire patio and backyard were completely covered in a variety of flowers, which caught me off guard. She comes from a farming family and learns all farming skills as a young girl, including how to grow plants organically and what nutrients they require to withstand pests and illnesses. As a result, she has an extensive understanding of plants.

She cultivates a wide variety of flowers in vibrant pots of all sizes and forms. She also grew domestically useful plants, such as fruits, vegetables, and spices. Also, there is a beautiful guava tree on her lawn, and I must admit that her garden is exceptional. In addition to this, she has created other methods for growing plants in containers such as waste bins, boxes, and trays that don’t take up a lot of room. These plants can produce a good yield in addition to their outstanding development.

Whenever I used to pay a visit to her place, she would be so excited to show her small kitchen garden to me. Infact, she used to teach me as well the plethora of ways in which she used to garden like grafting, layering, division, budding and many more. I genuinely feel exhilarated every time I see her busy with her plants.

Thus, this is a person who adores growing plants.

Q1. Do people in India like to gift plants?
Unfortunately, it is still not a trend in my country as maintaining a plant requires a lot of hard work and effort. And people nowadays do not have much time left after a tedious work life.

Q2. Do you think kids should learn how to grow plants?
Definitely, it is a great idea to teach children how to grow plants as not only is it a fun recreational activity, but also, a great hobby to learn and grow. It also adds on to their skillset and is quite productive for their overall development. Moreover, they will stay close to nature.

Q3. What is the difference between traditional and modern farming?
There is actually a huge difference between the two. The classical method of farming was more organic, as only cow dung was used as manure in the fields, which is not the case now, as farmers today use harmful chemicals such as insecticides, pesticides or fertilizers. Although earlier people used to use ploughs to level the farm, with the advent of technology ploughing has become a less laborious job as tractors are there.
