IELTS Cue Card – Favorite Restaurant

Describe your favorite restaurant.
You should say-
• where it is?
• What it looks like inside and outside?
• What kind of foods they serve?
What makes this restaurant so special to you and others?

Sample Answer:

My city is home to numerous fast food outlets and traditional restaurants. Today, I am going to talk about a restaurant which I love.

My favourite restaurant is Countdown, and it is situated at the centre of the city I am currently living in. From the outside, the restaurant doesn’t look very impressive. It is located on the ground floor of a three-storey building. It is quite big widthwise, but not in terms of length. It has large glass windows at the front, and vehicles are parked all around it. But once you step in, it is not only spacious but also surprisingly well-organised and elegant.

They offer a wide range of cuisines, including Italian, Indian, Thai, Pakistani and local varieties. This gives you a wide range of options to choose from.

I, and many others who know about this place, find this restaurant quite unique because of its delicious food and high standards of hygiene. Not only that, but the prices are also reasonable, and the food is served quickly as opposed to some other restaurants where you will have to wait for a long time for your order to appear on your table. They also play soft background music, which makes one forget about all the tensions and stress of life. The waiters and other staff are friendly and welcoming.

Unlike other restaurants, they even ask for feedback, and customer complaints are taken very seriously. All in all, I think it is one of the best restaurants in my city, and someone visiting the city should surely go there.

IELTS CUE CARD – Talk about an animal you like

IELTS CUE CARD : Talk about an animal you like.

You should say:

  • What this animal is
  • What is special about this animal?
  • How it looks like
  • And explain why you like this animal.

Sample Answer

Animals are eclectic creatures; they go all the way from the very friendly and domesticated to the lethal and feral. They come in different shapes, sizes and colours. Even animals of a single species are incomparable to their counterparts due to the sheer number of differences.

Today I will talk about one of my all-time favourite animals: the horse. Like other animal species, horses too come in different sizes and colours. Shetland ponies have a stockier body, round shape, thick fur, and short, stubby legs; they are not much used in athletic pursuits. Arabian horses, on the other hand, are taller and sleekly built with light bones; they are used exclusively for racing. Now, both of these are, scientifically speaking, horses, but they are oh so different in appearance, nature and purpose.

Despite differences in their physical appearance, all horses have some things in common which earn them the top spots among my favourite animals. For one, their movements. Whenever a horse moves, I can’t help but admire the powerful muscles bulging and gliding beneath their coats; the sheer potential power they have in each step is breathtaking. The way they move is more elegant than most humans can ever hope to achieve. Their might is undeniable. For another, they are loyal, intelligent, and empathetic creatures. The bonds that a rider and horse may form are second to none. All these unique qualities make horses special to me.

Speaking part 3 follow-up questions:

Q.1 Do people in your country keep animals at home?

Animals like cows, buffaloes and goats are domesticated widely in the countryside. In fact, livestock rearing provides sustainable livelihoods to millions of people living in rural areas.

Q.2 Do you think pets are important?

Yes, certainly. Pets can bring love and companionship into our lives. Many studies have shown that keeping pets reduces our stress levels, thereby improving our health and well-being.

Q.3 Do animals have rights?

Humans use animals for food and related by-products, farming and a variety of other uses. Every day millions of different types of animals are killed for food globally. Just by looking at these figures, I’d say that these creatures should at least have the right to live. But who cares? Laws are made for protecting animals, but they don’t work in reality.

Feral A feral animal or plant is one that lives in the wild but is descended from domesticated specimens.

SAMPLE ANSWER

Throughout my schooling, I studied in an English-medium school. So, English was the second language I learnt at a young age. Practically, I can say that I have been familiar with English for now 18 years. During the primary years, I did not take English very seriously, and grammar rules never bothered me. It was in class VIII that I understood the importance of learning grammar and vocabulary. Since then, I have been an avid reader and have made conscious attempts to improve my English language proficiency.

For me, the most difficult part of English was remembering the spellings of new words and using them in the right context. However, since I loved English, I overcame this problem by practising and writing regularly.

Now, I am a writer, and I write travel blogs in English. So, English is a crucial part of my profession. For me, it is very important that my writing is clear, engaging and accurate. I’d like to conclude by saying that language acquisition is a gradual process which requires patience and continuous efforts.

IELTS Cue Card – New Friend

IELTS Cue Card – New Friend

Describe a person who became your friend.
You must say-
Who is the person?
How did you meet?
What made you two become good friends?

Explain how is your friendship now?

late Time

Sample Answer: Friendship has always been very important to me. I have lots of friends, and I’m proud to say that all of them are special to me. Today, I’m going to talk about one of my closest friends.

Her name is Abhilasha. I was in the first semester of my bachelor’s studies when I first met her. Although we were in the same faculty, initially we never talked much. It was during the end of the semester that we became good friends.

We had to give presentations for a science project. We were divided into groups of ten, and every one had their co-ordinators. I was pretty much good at making presentations, so I was relaxed and working on something in our lab. It was then that Abhilasha came, worried, and she told me about her problem. Her group mentor asked her to prepare her presentation a week ago, but she was unable to do it because her mother was very unwell. The next day was the deadline for submission.

I felt sorry for her, and I decided to help her. So, I took her to my home, and without wasting any time, we both started planning what to put in the slides. Since the coordinator was very picky, we had to be extra careful about the details. By late night, the presentation was ready, and she even rehearsed a few times. We both felt confident. In the morning, she delivered a beautiful presentation.

I think the fact that I helped her even when my work was incomplete made her my friend. We understand and value each other. We have been close friends ever since then.
