Advertising has become an inevitable part of our lives. Some people believe that it is a positive aspect of our lives while others are of opposite belief.

Discuss both views and give your opinion.

SAMPLE ANSWER

Advertisements have surely become an important part of our lives. The way consumer buys a product, depends mostly on the advertising model of the company. Although, some people are of the opinion that we have become more aware and are able to take better decisions because of advertisements, others are of the opinion, a clutter has been generated because of it.

Looking at the negative impact, advertisements surely have had many. Firstly, it makes consumers buy things that may be they don’t need. For instance, a woman who sees an advertisement of a new product is more likely to buy it, even if not required. This often causes financial tensions in some cases. Secondly, often times people make fake advertisements. Like, an ad in newspaper saying eat this medicine to become slim in ten days. People tend to buy them and face the consequences.

However, ads are also helpful for the consumer. For example, an ad that tells about the effects of smoking and urges people to stop smoking, is more likely to have a broad effect. On seeing visuals, people are more likely to get affected. Secondly, it allows business people to start a business or a product. Such as, a company that opens a new line of product, can easily make people aware of it using advertisements.

Overall, advertisements, like everything, have both sides i.e. negative as well as positive. In my opinion, we need to be more smart to look through if the advertisement is real or fake.

What is the attitude toward marriage in your country?

Marriage in our country is treated like a big event in someone’s life. People save their money for marriages and it is often believed that marriage is the coming together of two families rather than two people. Often there is a lot of pomp and show during marriages and people tend to take them very seriously.

Do most young people plan on getting married in your country?

Well, there has been a considerable shift in people’s opinion about marriage. In recent times, young people prefer saving money and settling down before they take on the responsibility of a new life. So, you would see most young people working and earning and saving till their late twenties after which they tend to get married.

What are some of the advantages of marriage?

I think most of the human beings seek companionship and I think life becomes more beautiful when it is shared with someone who has the same opinions as yours. Marriage benefits society generally because it is associated with stable families. Stable families produce happier children and a more stable society with less crime and other social problems. Even more, it reduces the risk of STDs.

What are some of the disadvantages of marriage?

I think marriage becomes an issue when it  restricts the freedom of individual. Single people can happily live their lives pretty much as they please without having to be concerned with the needs or wishes of others. Even more, often people split up easier when they are not married. Marriage too an extent increases the time for which people are together. So, no matter people don’t like the company, they tend to stretch on.

Is the divorce rate high in your country?

Well, divorce rates in my country is quite low.May be because people take marriage in a very religious manner and breaking it is not that much acceptable in the society  as well. So, most people just tend to adjust in their lives.

Describe a friend.

Although, I don’t have many friends, I would say the ones that I have are truly good friends. One of them is Anish. We have known each other since past seven years and with time our friendship has surely grown more. He is photographer and we met while I was shooting for a travel show. The first thing that I liked about him was that he was very passionate towards his work. You can see his face lit up when talking about pictures and as a human he is very nice. I think the reason he has lot of friends is that he is very kind and respects people. He is one of those who would leave everything to help you and I find myself very lucky to be his friend.

What do you usually do together?

Well, most of the time, we are either clicking photos or being a critic for each others work. The fact that we both love the work that we do, makes us bond even better. I think it is his comments that I do take seriously and has helped me improve my work, and so are my comments valuable to him. Apart from improving our selves, we like travelling together. Both of us love it and travelling with your friends is always fantastic.

What do you like the most about him?

I like his passion towards his work. For him, his work is his life and it is such a delight to see him work that it can energize anyone around him. Also, he is very funny.So, in those critical moments of life, you would still see him carrying a big smile on his face and handling every thing with an awe.

How often do you see each other?

Well, not very much but we do meet up whenever we get time or either of us is in critical crisis. So, apart from the two holidays that we surely enjoy together every year, we meet up every three months or so but we are always in touch using either of the social media.

Importance of Internet # IELTS Speaking

Internet is making it possible for you to read this blog, and it is almost everywhere. It can even be in your speaking section of IELTS. So, let us have a look at some of the possible question of speaking on importance of Internet and their possible answers

Do you use Internet a lot during the day?

Yes, I use Internet a lot. I think too an extent my entire career depends on it. Being a blogger, I need to update things, tell people about what I am doing presently, maintain a page, reply to my followers, and it is all possible if I am on Internet.

What do you usually do on Internet?

Well, most of the time I am either blogging or interacting with my followers. Apart from this, I love watching you tube videos. I think you tube is that one site that opens up a whole new world for all of us. I mean, I can watch, documentaries, web series, appreciate people’s work and at the same time learn from people I might never meet in my life. Also, being a travel host, my work requires me to travel a lot, so internet is also a good way to be in touch with my family and friends.

What are some of the advantages of Internet?

The best thing about Internet according to me is that it is available for all. All the opportunities, everything, there is no competition going on there. If one has the will to learn, you can, using Internet. Also, it makes life more easier. One need not to rush here and there to book tickets, pay bills, give tough competitions to learn and go after door to door for job. Online teaching, work from home, it is all possible because of Internet.

So,do you think there are any disadvantages to it?

Every coin has two sides. Internet one hand has made our lives easier, but also made us more impatient and open to more risk. Like, these days people often send their credit card details online. If someone hacks through it, it can actually leave the person broke. Also, with more availability, internet has surely made us more impatient. Earlier people used to get angry when they did not used to get food, now they are angry for silly things like wifi is not working, internet is slow. But, if one is able to maintain a balance, I think internet can be used to more advantages.

Do people in your country use Internet a lot?

It actually depends. India being a vast country, has different aspects to different places. Like, Delhi will have more people using internet as compared to may be Haldwani, where Internet connections are not that strong, or awareness isn’t yet made. So, according to me, the metropolitan or smart cities tend to have people who use Internet a lot, but Internet has yet not reached to the villages and the small towns of India. People may use, but not excessively.

Do you do shopping on Internet?

Well, yes sometimes, when either I don’t have time to actually go out and buy things or if I have to order something for my family back home. But, usually I prefer going to the markets to buy things and check them on my own.
