Sample Answer :

Children often have a tendency to choose their role models, by whom they are highly impressed. His mannerisms and qualities are considered to be flawless and perfect, and often serve as the reference point for the children, to build upon their character. When I was in primary school, I was fascinated by our headmistress, Mrs. Robinson.

Since she was our headmistress, therefore she was in charge of every activity in the primary wing of our school. She used to address the assembly, every morning, in auditorium. I happened to meet her for the first time, when she appointed me as the head boy of primary wing. Once appointed, I needed to summon up the daily attendance and performance report to her desk, in her office.

Well, Ma’am always used to dress elegantly and had a unique penchant of presentation. She had an impressive English oration and an enriched vocabulary collection, which made her concise and precise in her communication. She was a very prudent decision maker and an able administrator. Her leadership skills in running the school were very impressive. She was a strict martinet in matters of academic and sports performance. She exposed the children to various cultural and educational, interactive programmes, which were very beneficial. She used to teach us English too. Her ability to make the students understand, the basics of learning a language, were very simple and highly effective. I give full credentials to Ma’am, for offering me such a strong foundation in English proficiency. Moreover, she stressed on the importance of time table and discipline in life, most essential tools to achieve success. She inculcated the basic civic sense and instilled tremendous confidence in us.

I feel blessed by her mentorship. Her pedagogy was significantly helpful to me in several spheres of life. I thank her for everything I learnt from her in my childhood.

Q. 1 Why do children make role models?

Sample answer: Childhood and specially adolescence is the age of confusion and self-doubt. There is a constant conflict between dependency and personal freedom. Value system undergoes a major scrutiny, whereby, one’s own validated norms and values are established. In such a state of uncertainty, young people cling to someone who they feel good in justified sense. Then they start imitating the person and try to impersonalize his style.

Q. 2 What is the first aspect of impression?

Sample answer: The very first aspect of impression is physical personality and the manner of communication. Physical built up is the first thing, one observes in a person in the first meeting. It is the suaveness in the speech and manners that impresses next. True character and attitude become the impression indices, only after growing familiarity with the concerned person.

Q. 3 Do the role models change for the primary standard students?

Sample answer: I think, they may or may not. A child studying in a primary standard is too susceptible and sensitive to the novel phenomena exhibited by the people. Therefore, there is a fair probability, that a child likes a person on one day and the next day he starts admiring some other person because of the different qualities. So, in this way, he can even have multiple role models. For instance, a sports minded child may be impressed by Mike Tyson and Usain Bolt equally.
