IELTS Letter Sample Question # Issues in Museum

ISSUES IN MUSEUM

You went to a museum with an elderly friend of yours last week and found some issues in museum. However, she/he found it difficult to walk around in the museum and figure out things. Write a letter to the manager and say whom

  • did you visit the museum with?
  • what problems or inconvenience did she or he face?
  • suggest a solution that will enhance the museum experience for the elderly people.
SAMPLE ANSWER
Dear Sir/Madam,
We have had an immense pleasure in visiting your museum over the last few years. It was because of this reputation that I invited my grandfather and his friends to visit the museum. It was very obvious to me that they will love it.
However, it is quite disheartening for me to tell you that there were a couple of issues they faced.Firstly, there is no order or story to the things displayed in the museum. This made it very difficult for them to grasp the basic concept of a particular thing displayed.
Secondly, there is very little help available. My grandfather wanted to go to the toilet but could not find it and when we tried seeking out help, all we got were some confusing answers.
I believe it will be better if the items displayed in the museum have a story to tell making it easier to understand the significance of the things displayed. Even more, since the space in the museum is too large, having people to help the elderly in finding things will surely increase the visitors.

SAMPLE ANSWER 2
Dear Sir/Madam,
Last week I was visited by my grandparents and their friends. To make their stay comfortable, I planned an evening with them in your museum. Initially, the thought of the museum did excite them, adding to which was the reputation that your museum holds.
However, with quite a dissatisfaction, I need to tell you that the services in your museum have detoriated over the years. Firstly, there are not many things to offer in the canteen. For an elderly person, there are only two options available, tea and coffee. Things like juice or fruits or for that matter, simple things like dosa ain’t there. This makes exploring the museum very difficult for the elders.
Secondly, there are not many bits of help available. We roamed for around 20 minutes before we could actually locate the toilet in the museum.
I believe these are not major concerns for the young people. However, when looking at the perspective of the elderly, these do become big issues. Hope that you will work on them.

Avantika

Sample Answer

Dear Asha,

I hope you are doing well. It has been ages since I wrote to you. I was very busy with my board examinations. It is a big step towards my future. It seems to me as if the whole world is gearing up for a new beginning with unexpectedly surprising measures.

As for India, we are all demonetizing our ₹500 and ₹1,000 notes to battle black money. The expected amount to be ‘found’ is around £200 Billion GBP. Just take a moment to soak that all in. This is a gigantic move for India as sadly there is a lot of bribery and black money handling. Heck, every single person in India could be a mini millionaire if all of its wealth were to be distributed equally among its citizens.

Honestly, from my point of view the situation is pretty hilarious. As just yesterday people were trying to rake in as much money as possible, the bigger notes the better. And just in a matter of hours people went from gazing lovingly to simply hostilely glaring at bundles of money. Don’t you think all this is very humorous too?

But enough about my country, what about you? How do you feel about Donald Trump being elected? What new and unexpected things do you think will happen next?

Your buddy,
Diksha Ramola

Although, there won’t be any major issues , if any arises you can contact me at my email id or call me at 0123-234564. The necessary food for the dog is kept in the cupboard left to the fridge. You can easily find it in the second shelf. Tommmy (the dog) is usually tied in the staircase but a morning and evening walk is must for him. Also, he takes bath every Sunday, which if missed could land him to the doctor. You are always welcome to use the fridge, foods, TV and other facilities I have at my home.

Also, there are few (around ten) plants in my garden, please do water them everyday, as I have worked really hard on them. Please switch on the garage lights after sun set and turn it off in the morning. Also, pick up the newspaper from the lawn.

Thank You.

WRITING TASK 1
You should spend about 20 minutes on this task.
Your friend is thinking about learning to derive and would like some advice,

Write a letter to your friend. In your letter

  • Say why a driving license is advantageous
  • Recommend a driving school
  • Give any extra guidance/tips

ANSWER (Band 7.5 Level):
Dear Rebecca,

I would like to appreciate your decision of learning to drive. There will be a whole new start of your life after that.
If I start up with the paybacks of having a driving license, the list will go endless. The first and foremost thing is that you will feel self-dependent this way. Neither you will feel restricted nor the oddities of public transport will bother you. Moreover, you can save your precious time.
As you have asked about a driving school, here is one I would like to suggest. Success Driving School will be my first advice as this is recognized as one of the most renowned driving school in New Delhi. They have a well organized training program and flexible timings. More importantly, their trainers are truly professional. You will get the best out of your bucks.
Firstly, for theoretical exam, it would be a great idea to purchase a traffic rule guide published by City Traffic Control Police. Secondly, I would advice you to keep a first aid box handy. I hope you will give your best in this training. As the saying goes, “practice makes a man perfect” I am sure after a few months, you will start driving confidently. Looking forward for a win over news.

Love,

Sussain
