SAMPLE ANSWER-

Spending Sundays together has always been a tradition in my family. We engross ourselves in different leisure activities like playing card, going out for a picnic or watching a movie together. But last month, we thought of trying something different. My mother planned to bake a cake for an evening get together, on the occasion of my grandfather’s birthday. The only condition was that every member of the family has to contribute.

As we’d decided to bake a cake, all my family member including my mother, father and brother were assembled in the kitchen. As none of us knew the recipe of a chocolate cake, my mother assigned tasks to everyone.

As I told earlier, the main reason behind baking a cake was my grandfather’s 70^th birthday. And it was a small surprise since he always favored family bonding and learning new skills collectively. So we initiated and I made the batter of the cake. My brother was given the responsibility to make the icing and decorate the cake whereas my father had to do the dishes. My mother acted as a supervisor.

Though the cake did not turn out to be that great, it was an enjoyable activity. We sang songs, recalled old memories and cherished the time with my family. On the whole, it was a wonderful experience and I look forward to spending more relaxing time with my close ones.

There are innumerable jobs available but it entirely depends on an individual’s choice about what profession they want to pursue. In my opinion, a School Teacher’s job makes a tremendous change in many ways. As it is our education system that builds the foundation of our lives, the teachers who run this education system act as a pillar.

During my childhood, I remember being a slow-learner but with the constant encouragement of my teachers, I turned into a better student. This not only had a positive impact on my grades but also helped me become a more confident individual that I was before.

It is our school teachers who bring clarity to us about various subjects and our interest in them. Though we all had, at some point in our lives, complained about school and the endless amount of assignments it loaded us with, those lessons and assignments prepared us for the real world of employment.

The teachers can change the world with every action and word that they say. They shape our path and route towards success. Now-a-days, there are many young teachers who indulge in teaching underprivileged and poor children free of cost. Coming to why I consider teaching as a powerful profession is that teachers by their efforts and determination can make a difference. The literacy rate of my country (India) has also risen in the past couple of years. Therefore we must be grateful to the selfless teachers of the nation.

Generally, I don’t laugh a lot. But, today, I’m going to talk about a time when I couldn’t control laughing.
Last Friday was my close friend Gurdeep’s 21th birthday. He is my childhood friend. We’ve been together for almost 10-12 years. As it was a special occasion, we wanted to celebrate it differently. But, none of us was interested in going to a sophisticated café or restaurant and partying there. Without making any great plans I invited Gurdeep and 2-3 common friends to my room to spend some quality time together.

At around 7 pm, everyone was there. While chatting one of us suggested to watch a newly released movie of Amir Khan, a famous Indian actor. There was no objection as such. So, we decided to go ahead with his suggestion.

The name of the movie was Three Idiots. The story revolved around 3 friends and their struggle to fulfil the dreams of their parents. The main objective of the film was to highlight a major problem of the Indian society i.e. parental pressure. Most parents don’t let their children choose a career. They just want them to become engineers or doctors. The trauma which young students in India experience after completion of their secondary school is beautifully picturised in this movie. There were a few serious scenes in the movie, but, in general, the whole film was full of comedy. We laughed a lot that day.

Coming to why laughing matters, there is an old adage: “Laughter is the best medicine.” And, now, health benefits of laughing are scientifically proven. Laughter reduces stress levels and boosts our immune system. It can bring a positive change in our life. In short, we should laugh and smile daily to lead a happy and healthy life.

A success story in a person’s life is a proud moment for a friend. It reminds me of my closest friend, Raj, who started an NGO (Non- Government Organization) of his own by the name ‘Hope’. The organization mainly focused on underprivileged women and the ones who have gone through a lot of difficulties in life. It mainly aimed at women empowerment. It provided them with holistic education and employment so that they get an identity and work independently and make a choice of a lifestyle they want to live.

Raj had always been a social activist from his university days and he spent his summers engaging in activities for the society’s welfare. Professionally, he was a road constructor and on a project he noticed the ill-treatment meted out to women laborers by their own family members. It was a turning point in his career and he decided to uphold gender justice, equality and women rights. He was determined to work for poverty-stricken urban women who face all kinds of abuses.

When this idea struck Raj’s mind, he came to me for some suggestions because his major concern was a place to commence the organization. I advised him to start it by utilizing the extra area he had adjoining his house. As it was for a good cause, he already had many people to work for him. He started it by visiting slums, making women aware of their rights and promised to provide with a life of dignity and independence.

Today, his organization has grown to an extent that it was awarded for being ‘NGO of the year’ of our city, Dehradun. As I too try to visit his organization and contribute in some way or the other, he had accomplished more than I imagined. This makes me feel so proud of him. He had provided work and education to many women and they all ARE doing quite well in their lives. In my last visit to him, he told me about his future plans of expanding the organization where the women would organize and manage monthly fairs in which women would make and sell art and utilize their skills. All profits incurred from these fairs would be kept by the workers and not the organization.
