What is full your name?

My name is Anmol Tanubhrt.

Can I see your ID?

Yes, sure, here is my passport.

Where are you from?

I am from Almora, but I have been living in Dehradun for past six years.

Do you work or study?

At present I am working as a content writer and have also enrolled myself in an intensive English course so that I can study in United States.

Are there lot of trees where you live?

Dehradun is the capital of Uttarakhand which is known for its environment and it is all surrounded with trees. We have got areas with forest on both sides of the road and then there is lot of greenery otherwise. Although we don’t have lot of trees in our colony but you can find one or two in every locality.

Do you like trees, forests? Why?

Yes, I love trees and forests. I love cycling in the roads surrounded by forest. I go for morning jog in these areas and near forests and trees it is very calming and helps me to reduce stress and rejuvenates me for the day.

Is there any special kind of tree in your city or country?

The most common kinds of trees in my town are Chir and then we have decidous trees that can be found. Another kind of trees you can notice are Sal, a timber species. It is the presence of these species that makes Dehradun a beautiful place as well as being a heritage site of some importance.

Do you have trees in your garden?

Not here, because I live in a colony and we don’t have big fields to have trees. Although we do have a garden with flowers and some vegetables. But, yes in Almora, the place where I originally belong to, we do have mango trees and leechi trees. Also some ashoka trees.

Did you ever plant a tree?

Yes, it was when I was in college. I was part of the NCC and we had organized an event where we motivated people to plant trees and as part of that event I planted trees near our college. In all, around 50 trees were planted during the event and we make sure that proper care is given to them.

This is the end of Part I.

What do you like about your job?

I have to confess that this job is my passion. I have been writing since I was 15 years old. Earlier it was just the simple diary writing and keeping note of everything happening. It then turned to having a blog of mine and now I am working as a content writer. So, I am doing what I love and getting to know the intricacies of the job.

What kind of job would you like to do in ten years from now?

This is really a good question. I would say I am a spontaneous person and do things that I love. Ten years from now, I would like to see myself doing something that I really enjoy doing, may be writing or travelling or photography. May be have a travel show of mine or write novels or scripts.

Body Language # Speaking Section

Speaking is not about just blurring out some random words, with some great vocabulary words using various grammatical structures. All of this is important but they don’t make speaking. You may go about and speak the best speech ever, but if the audience (in your case the examiner) does not connects with you, there is no point of the entire discussion.

But then how can one connect with the examiner??

  1. Gesture – Make sure you use your hands. They are not there to be put inside pocket or fiddle with pen or fold across your chest. You need to use them to emphasise a particular point or engage the examiner. You might be very energetic from inside but if you are sitting there fiddling with your pen or looking here and there, you surely do lose marks. Also, when not using your hands for gestures, keep them to the side. It shows that you are at ease.
  2. Stance – How you sit in front of the invigilator speaks before you even open your mouth. Your stance can tell whether you are angry or sad or confident or scared. So remember, stance speaks. If you are sitting with a balanced stance and slightly bent forward it means you are engaged with the invigilator. On the other hand, if you have a slumped stance and leaning on one side, it says you don’t care. Make sure, you keep notice of how you are sitting.

    BODY LANGUAGE

    BODY LANGUAGE

  3. Facial expression – The movement of your eyes, mouth and facial muscles build a connection with the examiner. Eye focus is the most important part of this. It helps in connecting with the examiner in no better way. Also, the facial expression matters. It easily conveys your feelings about the topic, whether you know about it or you are faking it or you are nervous, whatever.

Try practicing in front of mirror. The gestures that you use must be large enough to embrace the listener. Sit upright, lean a bit towards the examiner, smile , make an eye contact and speak as if you are speaking from you heart.
