Sample Answer

Parks are a great place for everyone. There are beautiful trees, gorgeous flowers, shy animals and lively insects. I dare say there is not an age group that doesn’t enjoy a good walk in the park. Why the elderly like long strolls, the parent’s get some peace and quiet, the kids see all kinds of curious things, insatiable beings as they are.

Today I will talk about one of my favorite parks, Hinchinbrook Park. This park was located right behind our house, but it had truly sprawling gardens and ginormous trees. In the latter part of my stay there was even an outdoor gym installed. My family and I used to love going to park on weekends for picnics.

The garden was of Temperate Deciduous Forest Species, meaning oak, maple, and birch and willow trees were the main tree types. The park’s wetlands were made up of two large lakes along with smaller ponds, lakes and even a brook. Ducks were regularly seen in the area along with other migratory water birds. Reed buntings were the most common sight among the high grass.

There were benches located all around the lakes and park, where I distinctly remember sitting and painting on a popup canvas. I have to say though the dragon flies were a bit of a nuisance. In the autumn the trees would turn this magical shade of golden red and the leaves would start falling. That was my favorite time to visit the gardens.

Another notable feature of this wondrous park was the apiary, which was maintained by the park’s own beekeeper association, the honey was also for sale for anyone wanting to buy it. Throughout the year the park also hosted various events, including a memorable biking showcase where I got to try out a new model electric bike.

Now that I think about it, I have a lot of fond memories of this park that I had almost forgotten! Gosh, I wish there were more of these kinds of parks all around the world, everyone deserves to connect with nature on such a deep level.

Q1: What other fond memories do you have of this park?

Ans: Like I said, our family used to go on picnics on the weekend, I used to bring my entire painters kit and sometimes sit and paint. Other times, I would play chase with my kids after a hearty meal. My kids and wife used to make flower chains form the daisies and buttercups, often I would be the recipient of a flower crown which I was not allowed to remove till we got home. Those are some other fun memories.

Q2: What do you think is the future of such parks?

Ans: I would dearly hope that such parks are kept preserved and loved. I would adore it if we could see more of them all around the world, showcasing and nourishing nature’s best efforts. With rapid urbanization, I know this is a bit of a far-off dream but we still have hope in the concept of roof gardens.

Q3: What is your stand on roof gardens from an ecological habitat standpoint?

Ans: I would be hard to have truly habitable roof gardens individually as everyone would try to personalize their own. With the availability of non-indigenous plants in shops, the wildlife would certainly face confusion. The only way to make such a concept work is to have an ecologist pre-plan roof gardens for the welfare of the local species. Such a concept would require constant monitoring and careful execution, but it is certainly doable.

Cities are very versatile, both, by the nature of their residents and the nature of the establishments they hold. They are also very volatile, what stands today might be crushed tomorrow. I have a rather melancholic approach to new business. Because, sure it’s a new beginning, but it is also the end of another.

Three days ago, I called my mum to ask how everything is going. We talked a bit and caught up with each other. It was then that she told me that a new public library had been opened in what used to be an old abandoned shopping mall. That had me intrigued. That shopping mall had been the first of many in my hometown to be built and abandoned, the fact that the municipality had taken note of this issue and taken steps to rectify it spoke volumes.

I can still clearly remember that mall when it first opened, with streamers and balloons everywhere, it had been a hub of life. For that to have been converted into a modern library, it kind of blew my mind. I mean don’t get me wrong, I like public libraries as much as the next bookworm, but for something so vibrant and loud to have changed into something so modern and quiet; it gave me a real pause. I did feel conflicted at this news, on one hand I wanted the past of the neon lights back, even though I knew that would never be possible. And on the other hand, I couldn’t wait to explore that brand new 3 story monument bestowed with knowledge.

In the end, the excitement for the future won out over my longing for the past and I promised my mother I would come by next month to have a look. She tells me the library is done up in glass, it has lots of terraces with green plants. There are cushion chairs just how I like them. Certainly, I cannot wait to visit now.

Colors are what make life beautiful and worth living. Different colors mean different things, Red is the color of sacred passion, yellow of joy and happiness. Here in India, we embrace color as our own. We even have a festival of colors, but today I want to talk about something much more personal.

I would like to tell you about my aunt’s wedding. Now, Indian weddings are synonymous with grandeur, pomp and all splendor of the heavens themselves. Typically, weddings have a three-day pre-wedding celebration. The first day is the engagement of the groom. On the second day, the bride is cleansed with yellow turmeric. And on the third day, a sing along takes place. The day off the main wedding the bride wears red.

My Aunt got married in early February, the days were just warm enough to feel comfortable in the full customary celebration wear. For every event, there was a dress code with color specification so that the guests could match. On the day of the engagement everyone wore white, to signify purity as well as a new beginning of sorts. The room held a crystal chandelier, the floor was blue marble. There was a notable likeness to a fresh winter’s snowfall.

On the day of the turmeric blessing, everyone wore yellow. We played with yellow turmeric and laughed with the golden sun rays. The third day for the sing-along, we were requested to wear pastels so that we could match the special rose decorations. But, it was the main Wedding night that was truly spectacular. My Aunt had never looked more beautiful, with her hair in braids, her hands in henna, and herself in a dark red, deeply embroidered gown. The guests wore a mirage of colors, from sparkly black to Metallic and holographic silver dresses, vivid green coats and florescent frocks. It was a sight to behold. Everyone danced under the stars, forming galaxies themselves. Truly, an event that paid homage to not only the blessed bond of betrothal but also to the colors that bring emotion into this very world.

My city is a very important city with a high population and many famous hotspots such as markets and landmarks. The Chandni Chowk market area is located in the city of New Delhi. It is one of the most crowded places in the city and hosts a large number of people on a daily basis.

This place is mostly made up of shops and shopfronts with houses and apartments on the back sides or above the shops. The place remains crowded for the most part as visitors throng in the place every day to buy electronics or home care products. I visited Chandni chowk during the last autumn in the month of October. It was a part of my four-day visit to Delhi for a family vacation.

On the last day, I went to this market area to look for and buy a few things as gifts to my friends and to buy a few specific food items available in some very old and famous shops in the area. The market was very crowded that day. All sorts of people were hurrying about in order to sell or buy something. I went around in different shops with my cousins and bought whatever I needed. I had to bargain with the shopkeepers very quickly as there were a lot of customers waiting to buy stuff.

All in all, it was a great experience, even though it was very hectic and tiring. I got to meet so many new people and to buy many new things. It was also great to experience and relish new food items and tastes.

Having being born and raised in the world’s second most populous country, seeing crowded places is not uncommon for me. Today, I’m going to share my experience of visiting a densely packed place.

It happened two years ago when I went to Mumbai for a short trip. Some of my close friends live and work there. It was a long weekend. We just planned a get together and decided to meet on Saturday afternoon at a popular beach.

The morning was glorious; the sun was shining and there was not a cloud in sight. It was a perfect day to be out and about. Unfortunately other people seemed to have the same idea as us. Hence, it came as no surprise that the beach was brimming to the point of bursting. Wherever we looked, either there were people or animals. Families, performers, beggars and guides, add in a camel or two and you get the picture. The noise levels were deafening. The sounds of rowdy children, shrill shrieks of seagulls, and motorboats were all mixed together. The foul smell from a nearby fish market did not help matters much. It was utter chaos. I felt immensely overwhelmed.

We had planned a picnic but there was no place to even move around. There was not a speck of golden sand to be seen under all the blankets, footprints and hoof-prints. Leaving immediately was the only way to avoid being crushed. That’s what we were forced to do. Even though the plan to spend quality time with each other failed badly, coming out of that mess safely was a big relief.
