Sample Answer

I have been inspired by many people in my life due to their habits and ways of living life. There are many people in my life who have had exemplary conduct and principles of leading life. They have set a good example for me and also guided me onto the right path at all times. Among these people my paternal uncle’s contribution is unforgettable.

My uncle is an upstanding citizen who has led his life with honesty and gratitude. As a high ranking army officer he has always taken wise decisions pertaining to his official duties and as a family man. The basic values of humanity and the importance of education are always the crux of his teachings. He is about to retire from his job and leads a peaceful life with contentment and satisfaction.

From my childhood, he has given me his affection and mentorship with strictness. He gave me guidance every step of the way, taught me moral values through practical lessons and real-life examples. He has also helped me with my studies and helped me make important decisions in life.

Growing up, I learned a lot from his actions and from what he had to say. I admire and respect him the most and consider him to be my role model due to his uncompromised honesty and integrity. I wish to follow in his footsteps and have tried to imbibe all the values and the positivity that his personality exudes. I believe that everyone should have a role model who teaches them the art of living.

Sample Answer

Books are tomes of knowledge that give every reader perspective. I am an avid reader and quite fond of reading books based on subjects such as religion, fiction, history, science, and motivation. Talking about a title that has influenced me, it would be the book “The Power of Subconscious Mind” which is written by Dr. Joseph Murphy.

My friend recommended the book to me after reading it himself, and I decided to read it. I purchased it from a book retail shop near my home. It was only when I started reading it, that I realized the real meaning of conscious and subconscious mind and how it works. It is categorized as a spiritual self-help book and has had a profound impact on my thoughts and changed my life in a positive manner.

Based on the law of attraction ideology of the writer, it is all about different stages of the human mind. A very interactive read, this book has many short stories based on real-life incidents as examples which portray that with the help of one’s subconscious mind they can get anything they want.

Moreover, it illustrates through stories the immeasurable power of the human will and how to make it work in our favour. This book has influenced me a lot in various ways. I have become more confident and sure of myself. It has taught me in the best way how to tackle tough situations with positivity. I have now decided to live my life with a stronger will by trying to exude the power of my subconscious mind. In my opinion, this book is a miracle and everyone should gain from its idea.

Part 3 Follow-Up Questions

Q.1 Why do you think reading books is important?
I think reading books is the cheapest and simplest way of acquiring knowledge. It is one of the best forms of entertainment and books help build our personality. A lot of research has shown that people who are in the habit of reading books tend to be more successful in life. In my opinion, it is one of those habits which every person should try to inculcate in them.
Q.2 What kinds of books are popular in your country?
People read all kinds of books in my country. Since my country is very religious, spiritual books are most common here. It also depends on the age of the readers. Young people have significantly different tastes when it comes to books compared to older people. Many children of my generation used to read comic books when we were in school. However, I don’t see many children doing it these days. They are busy on their mobile phones chatting with friends. It is sad that students, nowadays, are under a lot of pressure to perform in exams, and never get the time to read for pleasure, thus losing the idea of reading for fun.
Q.3 How is rapidly growing technology affecting our reading habits?
This is another of my pet peeves. People are so immersed in their gadgets and devices that they have forgotten the art of reading. A book, a cup of coffee, a comfortable chair- this used to be the idea of happiness for many people. Good authors were celebrated and felicitated by the readers. But now with the internet and social media, people have lost the pleasure that reading brings, and are more into things which probably are not good for their mental and physical health over the long run. No wonder mental problems are going through the roof in today’s society.

Poor-Service Best IELTS Band 7 coaching in Dehradun

Sample Answer

We often go to various places to avail different kinds of services for many purposes. I have been to many places with varying standards of services such as car garages, hotels, and offices. One such incident where I received poor quality of service was when I went to an upscale restaurant near my locality.

I went there with my team consisting of ten colleagues on the previous Saturday afternoon. We were there for a team lunch after a successful meeting. We were greeted, welcomed through the grand entrance and seated. The place was full and quite busy. It took almost fifteen minutes for the server to bring water to our table and present the menu. I felt bad but did not make any issue about it. All of us chose our preferences and gave our orders for the food. After discussing work issues for more than half an hour we realized that the servers did not bring our orders. I was annoyed and went to complain about the poor service to the manager.

He apologized profusely and went ahead to expedite our order. We finally received our food and had started eating it when two of my colleagues found strands of here in their soup and pieces of bread. This was the last straw and we all got up and left the place without complaining. I later sent a mail to the administration and received an invite to a meal for all of us again along write a sincere apology and promiser of the best service.

IELTS Speaking Task Cue Card:

Describe an interesting place in your country that is not visited by many tourists.

  • Where is this place?
  • What do you like about it?
  • How do you go there?
Sample Answer

India is a multicultural country with diverse geographical attractions. It is not possible for the visitors to visit all the tourist destinations here in a limited amount of time. This leads to a few places being visited less often as compared to others. Uttarakhand is home to a few such sites that are difficult to reach as they are nestled deep into the Himalayan mountain ranges.

One such place is Deoria Taal, a lake situated on a hilltop near a village called Saari. Located at a distance of 250 kilometers from the state capital Dehradun, it is a quaint lakeside place that has become a tourist spot due to its beautiful surroundings and breathtaking views. One can clearly see two of the tallest peaks in the Himalayan range from the view point near the lake. The diversity of the flowers and the trees, coupled with the serenity of the water body provide a soothing and calm environment to the visitors, making it an ideal spot for a weekend visit.

It can be reached after a hectic and tiring three-kilometer trek to the top of the hill, rendering it inaccessible for many visitors. The nearby area is surrounded by dense forests on high peaks and is scarcely uninhabited. There is a lot of wildlife that comes to the lake to drink water, making it difficult to reach the shores. The lake is a freshwater lake with a grassy area next to it making it perfect for camping in the lap of nature. It is easier to access in summers than winters, and a few select tourists come to camp here during their vacations.
