  • What it is?
  • Why you want to cook?
  • How will you cook?
 Sample Answer

I am a great food lover and love to cook for myself as well as for others. In order to learn cooking, I am not only watching YouTube videos, but also attending some short term cooking classes as well. I am a very creative person and cooking activities are a great way to express the creativity. Moreover, for me it is the best way to relieve stress. Therefore, I try to cook different types of cuisines at home.

Since, it’s my mother’s birthday tomorrow, so I have planned to cook Shahi paneer for the occasion. I really want to surprise her by making her favourite dish and that too on her birthday. It is a North Indian dish and a perfect recipe for any occasion. The recipe of making Shahi paneer is very simple. In a large saucepan, I will first fry the small paneer cubes and will soak it in a bowl of water. This will not only make the paneer cubes softer, but will also remove the excess oil from it.

Next, I will put the pan on medium flame with 2 large tablespoons of ghee in it. After that I will add the chopped onions, ginger, green chillies along with ginger garlic paste. 5 minutes later , I will also add some chopped tomatoes and green cardamoms to it and will cover the pan with a lid. After cooking it for about 10 minutes, I will add the beaten curd and cook for another 5 minutes, and pour a cup of water into the pan and cook for another 2 minutes. When the gravy will be cooked and cooled at room temperature, I will blend it till smooth and keep aside.

Then, I will heat some ghee in another pan and add the gravy in it along with red chilli powder, garam masala powder, tomato ketchup and salt. I will boil it till the gravy thickens. Next, I will add the paneer cubes and milk in it and will cook for another 5 minutes. Then, I will garnish the recipe with chopped coriander leaves and grated paneer. I hope with this small gesture of mine, I will be able to bring a smile on my mother’s face.

Man is a highly social being, and we as people build up a web of relationships as we go. One such relation is friendship, wherein like-minded people come together, and make life better by adding joy in each other’s lives. Friends always make life better by celebrating each other’s joys, supporting in the sorrows, and helping in the times of our need.

I have a lot of good friends that I have come to be with, in this beautiful journey of life. I have helped them and they have done the same for me on numerous occasions. One of these friends, Manan, stands out in my memory and in my heart as well. A very amazing person to spend time with, he has always looked out for me. Actually, I met him after joining college, and soon we started sharing an apartment as well. He always understood my financial issues and acted accordingly. After a month, I decided to apply for a job to sustain my expenses.

I consulted Manan, and he urged me to apply in a few companies, in addition to supporting my decision. I applied for the jobs and got an interview call as well. After preparing for it, on the day of the interview, I went to him and asked him to lend me formal clothes for the interview. He was gracious enough to comply and gave me his best formal suit to wear. I was actually humbled at his gesture and thanked him profusely. I then gave the interview, and I was cleared for the job. It was a great help on Manan’s part, and he was happy when I credited him for this success.

Sample answer

Everyone visits some new place for leisure or work. We ask people for directions or refer to maps to reach our destinations without getting lost. Sometimes we also lose our way and end up in the wrong place. I can vividly recall one such incident where I was lost in a dense forest.

I am a traveler and I like visiting new places. It was during the last winter in December that I shifted to Dehradun which is a hilly area. As soon as I settled down there I took my car and left for a tourist spot famous for its sunset views. After reaching there I parked my car and walked into the trails enjoying the surroundings. Sometime later when the sun was setting I realized that the trails were a maze and I did not keep track of my way back. It was very cold and fear was settling in as I was all alone.

Meanwhile, my mobile phone battery was drained and I started to look around for help. Without panicking, I looked everywhere carefully for danger or any other person. I suddenly saw a faint light in the distance which was emanating from a bonfire. Consequently, I went up to it and found a few local people camping in the forest. They knew the whereabouts very well and told me the way back to the main road where my car was parked. I thanked them a lot after heaving a sigh of relief. I was genuinely scared due to the possibility of being attacked by a wild animal with no help in sight. But I was glad to find out this group and to receive their reassurance of safety.

There are many things that we tend to lose sometimes due to different reasons. I have also lost a few things during the course of my life, due to negligence or ignorance. One such incident took place when I lost my wristwatch. I remember the incident as that watch held a very special significance in my life.

This happened two years ago in the month of January. I was visiting another city in order to attend a friend’s wedding. After reaching my hotel and after getting ready I immediately left for the cocktail party event which was taking place in a famous club there. While partying, I was instantly lost in the moment with my friends. We had a lot to drink and eat and lost track of time as the evening progressed. I must have taken off my watch and kept it somewhere as I realized that it was missing while leaving. I desperately tried to look for it afterward but to no avail. Subsequently, I notified the staff and they promised to look for it. Next morning I went back to the club only to be notified that they were unable to find it.

I was depressed and cursed myself for my negligence. That watch was very valuable to me as it was not only a gift from my grandfather but his only belonging that I had. I urged the club staff to try once again and came back with a heavy heart. Following this incident, I vowed to be aware of my belongings at all times so that such incidents can be avoided.
