Sample Answer

One of my most cherished moments in life was when I won the interdepartmental table tennis competition at my college. It happened last year, and I received gold medal for the Girls Singles competition. I had been practicing table tennis for almost 3 years now I have developed strong passion for the sport and wish to take my skills to the next level.

The competition was organized by college to promote sportsmanship among the students. All the matches were played in the sports hall where all the judges, audience and my friends were present. At first, I felt quite nervous due to the pressure of representing my own department. However, as the game begun I became more confident and enjoyed passing strong spins and shots.

The final match was very exciting as it was a tough competition which made the game challenging and exciting at the same time. The scores of both the teams were very close which created a strong momentum in the game. When the referee announced the results, I felt extremely happy and content with my own  performance as all my efforts paid off.

After the match we celebrated our victory with friends and family. This was the happiest situation of my life as it was both an enriching as well as a learning experience for me. Its memories are always close to my heart.

Answer: One family member I am very interested in is my aunt, who works in the field of brain cancer research in the United States. I have admired her since childhood, as she has always been extremely compassionate, dedicated and hard-working. Even though her journey was never linear, she always stood up to combat every challenge that came in her way.

Whenever she visits India or talks to us via video call, she shares interesting facts about her own research work and studies. I’ve personally learnt a lot more about certain scientific discoveries and advancements which are being implemented in heathcare sector to treat rare diseases.

The most fascinating thing about her own work is its impact on diagnosis, treatment and drug discovery for brain tumours.

Apart from her professional achievements, she’s a very kind individual by heart and always supports me for my future endeavors. All her qualities, vision and path have been my biggest inspirations. During to which, I see her as my role model. Answer – A situation that I found extremely difficult to avoid was working on my B.A
English Honours dissertation, which was a crucial part of the program.
This happened last year when I was in the final year of my program and the theoretical
classes had already been completed. We were expected to stay at home and focus on
preparing our dissertations. During that time, I spent most of my days at home working on
my project, “Posthuman Identity”, reading various research papers and working on my
literature review. I would create detailed schedules, explore different thesis, and prepare a
structured plan to start my work, but I was not taking any meaningful action. However,
instead of actually starting the writing process, I kept procrastinating.
The main reason it was so difficult to avoid was that I felt completely overwhelmed. The
dissertation seemed like a massive and complicated task, and I did not know where to begin.
Because of this uncertainty, I kept delaying the work, even though I was fully aware that I
could not escape it forever. As time passed, the deadlines started approaching, which only
increased my stress and made the situation feel even more difficult.
Eventually, I realised that avoiding the task was only making things worse. So, I forced
myself to start working on it step by step. I began by setting small, achievable goals, such as writing just one section or reviewing a few research papers each day. Gradually, I became
more consistent, and what initially felt overwhelming slowly turned into a manageable
routine. In fact, I even started enjoying the process, especially when I could see steady
progress in my work.
In the end, when I showed my project to my mentor, she was very happy to see the progress I had made throughout the entire process. Her feedback really boosted my confidence and made me feel that all my hard work had paid off. Later, when I had to prepare and deliver a short presentation of my thesis, I felt much more confident, even though I had been initially very nervous about it.
Looking back, this experience taught me an important lesson about discipline and
perseverance. It showed me that breaking large tasks into smaller steps can make them far less intimidating. Since then, I have become much better at handling challenging situations without feeling overwhelmed.
