Examples Of Imperative Sentence

  • Can I have your pen, please.
  • Just do it.

WHERE IS THE SUBJECT
You must be wondering where is the subject in imperative sentences. Well, an imperative sentence always has a subject and it is “YOU”.
[you] open the door.
[you] please, give me your notebook.

Imperative Verbs

Imperative sentences contain verbs in the imperative form. This means that the verb is used to either make a command or request or desire. These verbs can be used as objects in other sentences.
For example-:

  1. TALK politely.
You are not allowed to talk here.
  2. TURN off the radio.
We took a wrong turn and got late for the show.

Imperative sentences can even be used in academic papers and are often used to increase depth in your writing.

Grammar Rules For Imperative Sentence
  1. We can make imperative sentences with bare infinitives (without to).
    For Example-:
    Be strong.
    Let him go.
    You dare not touch it.

  2. When making negative imperative sentences use don’t or do not.
    For Example-:
    Don’t mess with the teachers.
Do not enter into the room without knocking.

  3. The name of the person can be written in an imperative sentence, but that is usually at the end of the sentence.
    For example-:
Please pass me the book, Nitika.

  4. If you are talking to more than one person use the pronoun “you” to make a distinction.
    For example-:
You park the car and you come along with me.
You wait here while I’ll send them off.

Complaint Letter # IELTS Writing (Level Band 5.5)

Write Complaint Letter

You have bought a mobile phone in a tax free shop just a few days ago and it does not work properly. Write a letter to the manager to complain about it and ask him to solve the problem. In your letter:

Write at least 150 words.

Answer(Level Band 5.5)

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing in regard to the mobile phone that I purchased from your store which is a Samsung Galaxy S 6. When I used this phone initially, it worked smoothly but after 2 days it began giving trouble as the screen would go off. This kept happening at an interval of nearly every half hour and this problem kept aggravating.

I tried switching off the phone and restarting it but somehow it did not make any difference. After sometime, it gave up completely and now I cannot switch it on at all. All my contacts and files are in the phone which I am unable to access and this problem is hampering my business as I cannot make or take any calls.

I earnestly request you to look for a solution to this problem by either changing the phone or fixing the same as soon as possible. I would appreciate it if this could be done at the earliest as time is of the essence here.

Yours Sincerely,

Jagbeer Kaur

Solve Growing Traffic And Pollution Problems # IELTS Essay

Topic

Increasing the price of petrol is the best to solve growing traffic and pollution problems.
To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion? What other measures do you think might be effective?

Topic (Essay Level Band 7.0)

In today’s world the main problems which we face in our everyday lives are related to traffic congestion and high levels of pollution. Both these problems, which are inter-related, affect people to a great extent as everyone has to commute for personal and professional reasons. Increasing the price of petrol is not the best way to solve these problems but it can help to reduce them to quite an extent.

These days, everyone uses private vehicles for commuting daily for personal and professional reasons as it is a more comfortable means of travel. This results in the increase of the level of pollution due to the toxic and poisonous fumes emitted by theses vehicles. A reduction in the price of petrol can dissuade a few people from using their vehicles as its usage would become costly. But in general, people who prefer the comfort of their own vehicles would continue to use them irrespective of the decrease in petrol costs. So it is only to an extent this would help curtail the traffic and pollution problems.

SOLVE GROWING TRAFFIC AND POLLUTION PROBLEMS IELTS

SOLVE GROWING TRAFFIC AND POLLUTION PROBLEMS

There can be other measures which can be used to curb the growth of traffic and pollution. First and foremost, public transport should be made easily and cheaply available to the public so that it can become affordable for all people. Secondly, the routes for such transport should also be increased and expanded, especially to those areas where commutation is difficult. Lastly, a tax can be levied on all vehicles which are used by people for personal and professional use.
In conclusion, it can be said that the decrease in the price of petrol would not be a very effective way of curbing traffic and pollution related problems and other measures should be devised to keep these in check.
