Sample Answer

Art expresses the best things in life- simple and sweet, complicated and unknown. Today I’m going to talk about a newly unveiled local piece of art. I had the pleasure of coming across this masterpiece last week while going to the market- I just saw it in passing but that didn’t cease to amaze me.
It’s a magnificent statue of a great Indian ruler, Maharana Pratap and his loyal horse, Chetak. The king is holding a long spear in his right hand and the reins of the horse in his left hand. The horse has one of his front legs up in the air. The total height of the statue would be around three and a half meters. Craftsmen have used two different types of marbles: pale white for the platform and black for the main figures. The colour combination looks impeccable.

Coming to how feel about this work of art, it’s is an exquisite example of craftsmanship. Sculptors’ attention to detail is praiseworthy. Right from the size of the spear to the hooves, eyes of the horse, every small part of the statue is sculpted carefully. This work of art has increased the beauty of the region. When I look at it, it reminds me of our rich history and culture. We’ve forgotten the sacrifices of our warriors in protecting our nation from foreign powers. Such works can greatly help inculcate a sense of patriotism among young adults and children.

IELTS Speaking part 3 questions related to arriving early or late

IELTS Speaking part 3 questions related to arriving early/late

Q. 1: In what kinds of situations should people arrive early?

Answer:  In my view, those who are working or seeking jobs should arrive early for official meetings, performance reviews and job interviews. As far as students are concerned, they should be punctual for their classes or lectures.

Q.2: How important is it to arrive early in your country?

Answer 1: It’s a pity but most people in my country don’t value time. Arriving late is a norm. Be it a birthday party or a wedding ceremony or any other special occasion, guests are often late and hosts have to wait a long time for them to arrive. Not only ordinary people, even high profile politicians and celebrities are not punctual for public meetings or events.

Answer 2: People in my country give a lot of value to punctuality. They arrive on or before time for all meetings and appointments. In fact, social gatherings have timings and people happily stick to them.

Q.3: How can modern technology help people arrive early?

Answer: Modern technology can make a considerble difference in helping people to arrive early. Many commuters get stuck in traffic jams and get late for their offices. These days smartphones are equipped with navigation applications which display traffic conditions in real time on major roads and highways. Even suggestions for alternative routes are given. If people use these applications, I think they can reach in time.

Q.4: What kinds of jobs require the most patience?

Answer: In my view, patience is a vital trait that is needed in almost all kinds of jobs. But, professionals like doctors, nurses, researchers and teachers are expected to have a higher level of patience as compared to others. If these people become impatient, it will affect the quality of their work.

Q.5: Is it always better to be patient in work or studies?

Answer: As far as studies are concerned, learning is a gradual process and students have to be patient. It’s not possible to become the master of a subject in a short span of time. It takes years of efforts to develop an in-depth knowledge of any field. Regarding work too, I think people can perform better if they stay calm and concentrate on their work

Q. 6: Do you agree or disagree that the older the people are, the more patient they are?

Answer: I disagree with this view. In my opinion, people become more impatient as they age. I can give you an example of my grandparents. They are in their seventies. It’s quite hard for them to wait for anything, be it their meals or medicines, they want everything immediately. But, this wasn’t the case few years ago. I think this change in their behaviour is an effect of aging.

IELTS Writing task 1 – Percentage of unemployed young people in 2005

WRITING TASK 1

You should spend about 20 minutes on this task.

The chart below shows the percentage of unemployed people aged between 15 and 24 in five European countries in 2005, compared with the overall percentage of unemployment in those countries.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Write at least 150 words.

Sample Answer

The bar chart provides information about the unemployment rates of young adults aged 15-24 and that of the total workforce in five European countries in the year 2005.

Looking at the proportion of jobless young adults, the lowest figure was recorded in Denmark (just over 5%).  Germany and Hungary had approximately three times higher youth unemployment rates compared to Denmark. The highest unemployment rates were observed in Italy and Poland, about 23% and 37% respectively.

As regards the overall unemployment rates, Poland witnessed the highest figure in this category as well.  Fifteen percent of the Polish workforce was jobless while 5% fewer people were idle in Germany. Italy and Hungary came next with similar levels of overall unemployment, nearly 6-7%. In comparison, Denmark had only around 3% unemployed people.

In general, what stands out from the chart is that the youth unemployment rates were significantly higher than the overall figures in all the listed countries. Poland ranked the first in both the categories while Denmark came last. Italy and Germany were in the halfway marks with Hungary representing the overall mean.
