IELTS BAND 7 GRAPH

ANSWER:

The bar chart highlights the variation in the total wealth of the UK according to three different sectors over a decade (2000 -2010).
Between 2000 and 2002, the UK household net wealth remained fairly stable at about £4,500. The figures for both households and government sectors rose consistently in the following years until the economic downturn in 2008. In that year, the net worth of UK households dropped to about £6,000 billion, a significant decrease of approximately £800 billion compared with 2007. Interestingly, UK households wealth recovered in the next two years but the government’s net worth went into negative figures in 2010. It is important to note that throughout the given period the government’s wealth was comparatively much lower than that of the households.
Looking at the total wealth of the UK between 2000 and 2010, the figures were on a par with that of UK households. In six of the ten years represented in the chart, UK households were worth approximately 5% to 10% more than the UK total. For just under a third of this period, in the years 2002 to 2004, the UK total was equal to or greater than the total worth of UK households. Although, the net worth of business in the country improved from 2000 to 2002, this trend did not last and began to worsen again only a year later. From 2005 to 2007, although the rest of the country experienced continued growth, the wealth of business returned to the 2000 levels.
Overall, the total wealth of UK households and the government sector followed an upward trend in the given time period except in 2008. Surprisingly, the business sector remained the least growing section of the UK economy.

Woman pay and promotion # IELTS WRITING TASK 2

WRITING TASK 2
You should spend about 40 minutes on this task.
Write about the following topic:

In spite of many advances women have made in education and employment, they continue to be at a disadvantage when it comes to pay and promotion. In your view, what should be done to promote equality of opportunity for men and women in the workplace?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge and experience.
Write at least 250 words.

ANSWER:

In many regions of the world, women have achieved a social status which is on a par with that of men. Definitely, the credit for this progress goes to their sincere efforts in acquiring the highest educational qualifications and professional skills. Nevertheless, females continue to experience gender discrimination and lack of promotion in workplaces.
Some experts may argue that this issue is never likely to be solved as men’s feeling of being superior than women will always prevail in society. Therefore, this problem can only be minimized and never completely erased. But, in my view, we just have not worked and analyzed the problem enough to claim defeat.
A possible approach would be for the government to compel organizations to follow two rules. Firstly, equal salaries must be paid to all employees for equivalent work. Secondly, the percentage of promoted employees should be equal for both genders. At the same time, regular checkups should be conducted on all tax paying companies to ensure that the measures are strictly followed. This approach appears quite promising. However, the problem is that it would take too long to execute. It can also be seen as an overly excessive measure. Not to mention that big companies could easily fake the data.
A more feasible approach would be for the governments to take the lead and ensure that no discrimination takes place on any of its own grounds. In all government organizations, women must be treated properly and their work must be recognized accordingly. This policy would be more realistic as it would enable the government to grab the problem by is roots instead of trying to yank its stem out along with the roots. In addition, these steps would establish equal payment as an unspoken norm. They would also make the government an ideal role model for other private companies. In fact, countries such as Sweden and Iceland have proven the effectiveness of such measures.
To sum up, it is most likely true that the situation will improve with time but that should not stop us from putting a little more effort so as to solve it quickly or put it to rest once and for all.

WRITING TASK 1 MAP Before or After IELTS Band 7 Level

WRITING TASK 1 MAP Before and After IELTS Band 7 Level

ANSWER:

The given maps illustrate the changes in the appearance of an island, before and after the construction of some visitor amenities.
Looking at the first map before the construction, it is noticeable that it is a big island with a beach in the west. The length of the island is approximately 250 meters. The island has no buildings and the eastern part has more palm trees as compared to the west.
In the second map, many new buildings such as accommodation facilities, a reception and a restaurant etc. have been built on the island. The lodging amenities are located in two areas. While one area is close to the beach, the other one is slightly far from the beach. Between them there is a restaurant in the north and a central reception block which is surrounded by a vehicle track. This track also goes down to the pier where tourists can go sailing in the south sea of the island. In addition to the vehicle tracks, footpaths have been constructed to go around the facilities and to the beach. Owing to all these developments the beach is now used for swimming. Interestingly, the eastern part of the island remains unchanged.
Overall, it is evident that it was a wild island which has been transformed into a well-developed tourist facility where tourists can fully exploit the scenic island and enjoy outdoor activities like swimming and sailing.
