SAMPLE ANSWER

Space exploration requires the best of technology, technicians and lot of effort, making it one of the most expensive things that human beings collectively do. Although, some people are of the opinion, that the money spent on space exploration should be saved and spent on other essential things required, I tend to differ.

Technology is the one thing that makes our lives easier and most of technology that we are using in present time is a result of space research. Like, satellite technology on which we depend for broadcasting and weather forecasting. Without satellites, it would not be possible to give warnings of an approaching storm! Even more, space research has also led to the development of lightweight materials that offer us heat protection and enable food preservation.

Environment destruction has begun and it has grasped the attention of the entire human race. No matter how far we have reached, we are dependent on our nature. Some believe that if in near future Earth diminishes or breaks down, we humans should have a place to live.

Overall, it cannot be denied that we are facing enormous issues on our planet, from poverty to wars to health issues, but in my opinion space research is one aspect that allows us to look towards our future. Spending entire money only on space research might make us broke, but completely avoiding it might just lead us no where.

HOW IS THE MARKING DONE?

When an examiner checks your answer, there are few things that he or she mainly marks you on. They are-

1. Task Response

The introduction should perfectly paraphrase the question and give a clear opinion of the writer. This opinion needs to be supported in the body of the essay. You need to give concrete examples and ensure that the conclusion restate the writer’s opinion.

2. Coherence and Cohesion

The model answer should contain clearly divided paragraphs and their should be a perfect link between the different paragraphs.

3. Lexical Paraphrase

You need to make sure that the key concept is paraphrased several times. So, if the question is on computers, don’t use computers every time, you can find out other words to express the same thing. This is how your vocabulary is checked in the writing section.

4. Grammatical Range and Accuracy

Make sure that the answer is free from any grammatical errors. It should be a perfect balance of simple and complex sentences. You can use different voices, verbs and other grammatical devices such as conditional modals.

How To Increase IELTS Band?

you can never win the battle, if you don’t know how to fight for it. So, is the case with getting great band in IELTS. To get a good band, the will to get it is required, but then it is equally important that you know how to exactly fight for it. Some of the things you must do while preparing for IELTS are given below-:

1.Familiarize yourself with the question types used. There are many different types of questions asked in IELTS and all of them will not come in a particular test. But knowing all the types of questions will help you to interpret the question more easily and hence save your time.

2.The next most important thing to do is manage time. During the entire IELTS test there are lot of time constraints and no matter how good you are if you don’t complete the task within a certain period of time , you are lost.
2.1 For the reading part, read short passages everyday within a time constraint. You may not understand it in the first go, but surely you will learn how to skim a text and grasp the important points. When you read it the next time, try to notice the more intricate details.
2.2 For the writing part, write about different topics every day, may be just for five minutes. the point here is not to write accurate things, but to be pen down your ideas.

3. Always read the test question carefully. No matter how many times you have practiced the questions, when giving the real test, go through the question with full concentration.
With the right armor, even the toughest of the battles can be won.

Getting a high band in IELTS is not just about knowing the right English, it is more than that. Let us have a look at what it is about –

  1. Answer The Entire Question Properly- Each IELTS letter consist of three parts, three bullets and you need to make sure that you have answer all the points completely in order to score well. Leaving any of the points, you can get penalized for task response. Also make sure that you elaborate on each of the point, this may mean you need to write more about one topic and less about another.
  2. Think About The Type Of Letter- There are four kinds of letters that can be asked in IELTS, and your response to it depends on the type of letter it is. So, if you are writing to a friend, you need to be a little more informal, but if writing to your head or some other authority, you need to be formal.
  3. Use Varied Grammar – There is a score in IELTS for writing varied form of grammar sentences, so no matter you are writing to a friend, make sure you use variety of grammar sentences.
  4. Plan It Right –  It is a good idea to know how you are going to write a letter, what you are going to write, how you are going to end it. So, get the answers to the above questions, before you start writing the letter.
  5. Word Limit- This is the most important thing, no matter how great your letter is, if it falls short of the work limit, even by a single word, you are going to lose marks and that is for sure.
  6. Punctuation And Spellings – It is always a good idea to use punctuation marks, but make sure that it is used correctly, also make sure that the spelling is right. You do lose marks on wrong spellings.

Advantages and disadvantages are the most common questions that are asked in IELTS. And often instead of simply asking to state the benefits and drawbacks you are asked whether the Advantages / Disadvantages Outweigh the other.
But then how must you answer such questions? Well, given below are some tips that could be helpful in writing essays of this kind.

    1. Find out ideas supporting both the sides. The question is asking for your opinion.
    2. Find out which one do you support more? Advantages or disadvantage? The answer to this question must form the thesis statement.

  3. In the second body paragraph, state the details of the side you support. Support the point with reasons.
  4. Restate your opinion in the conclusion in a different language. Make sure that your point of view is clearly explained
