IELTS CUE CARD # Describe a person in news you would like to meet

You should say:
 Who the person is
 What they do
 Why they are in the news
And explain why you would like to meet them
There are innumerable famous personalities that often remain in news or become headlines of
the newspaper. Most of the time they gain media’s attention because of their noble deeds and I
am going to talk about one such person. His name is Mr Ratan Naval Tata and I would love to
meet him in the near future.
He is an Indian industrialist, philanthropist, and a former chairman of Tata sons. He is a scion of
the Tata family, and great-grandson of Jamshedji Tata, the founder of the Tata group.
A few months ago, he was interviewed by a renowned journalist where he talked about a
massive donation of 5 billion dollars to Prime Minister’s emergency fund during the coronavirus
pandemic. The amount would be used for buying personal protective equipment for the
medical personnel on the frontline and testing kits to increase per capita testing, especially in
the backward areas of the country. Apart from this, the Tata Group took another major
decision, which was to support the livelihood and families of their temporary workers by giving
them full payment during the initial phase of lockdown.
This quality affected me the most and had left a positive impact on me. I would also like to
highlight that, he has been awarded the Padma Vibhushan and Padma Bhushan, the highest
civilian awards of India by the Indian government for his business ethics and philanthropy.
I am eager to meet this generous person and would like to thank him for his kind step towards
humanity. Also, I would love to learn about the early stages of his life, different challenges that
he faced from his business competitors and how he managed to become such a successful
industrialist. If I get a chance to meet him, I will not miss the boat.

IELTS CUE CARD # Describe an area of science that interests you or you are interested in

Describe an area of science that interests you or you are interested in
You should say:
 What area of science it is
 What is it about
 How you got interested in it
And explain why you enjoy it so much
I think that science has made an immense contribution in uplifting human society. It primarily
has 3 branches, physics, chemistry and biology and if I talk about myself, I am particularly
interested in biology and would like to talk about the same.
This area of science involves the study of life and living organisms, including their physical
structure, development and evolution on the Earth. I got interested in this subject when I was
in 6 th standard, as the subject was introduced to me for the very first time. My school books
were full of pictures of animals and plants. I was surprised to learn how a tiny seed grows into a
healthy plant, different species of flora and fauna; habitat in which they can survive and the
features which help them to do so. Whenever, I saw a picture of a plant or an animal it made
me even more curious about this subject.
My teacher, Mrs Rawat was an exceptionally knowledgeable person and she made this subject
easy and fun learning with her teaching skills. I remember vividly, there was a science lab in my
school where we used to go every Saturday to carry out experiments and the activity I enjoyed
doing in the lab was to observe micro-organisms with the microscope. There were times when
students did not understand the lessons for the first time and Mrs Rawat have not scolded any
children when they ask for an explanation to the teacher. In fact, for better understanding of
certain aspects she often organized trips. Once our school organized a trip to Botanical Garden
in Kolkata. It was a memorable trip and I had learnt a lot from this trip about different species
of plants.
Although, I have not studied biology in my college, I have a keen interest in this subject and in
order to know more about different life forms and to keep my interest intact in this subject I do
watch wildlife and plant shows on educational channels like Planet Earth and Discovery.

Why Study Abroad?

STUDY ABROAD. CRACK IELTS. DO GMAT OR FIGURE OUT SOME OTHER COURSE. BUT JUST GO ABROAD.
You must have heard this. But then why? Why study abroad? Don’t we have good colleges in India as well?
I would say we do have and studying in abroad can be one hell of a fight. There is lot of paper work that needs to be done. Chances are that you feel home sick or may be experience cultural shock. There could be difficulties with understanding language and the classes can be more challenging.
WHY GO FOR IT THEN

EXPOSURE

You can sit in India with your friends and family but the exposure you get while studying abroad is worth a try. You get to know the different cultures of the world. Meet new people and make memories that last forever

LEARN

Study abroad allows you to learn a discipline from a completely different cultural perspective. It allows you to develop skills such as creative problem solving, interacting with people from different backgrounds and lot more.

Stop being skeptical about studying abroad. It might be possible that you face some difficulties. But remember, it takes some cuts and bruises to get the perfect shape.

IELTS Speaking Sample Questions # Robots

We are living in times when technology has made our life so much easier. Now, we are moving towards taking it to another level. We are shifting our attention towards automation i.e. creating devices that could do things on their own. These devices are called robots. This time we are looking at some questions related to robots that can be asked in the IELTS speaking section.

Are you interested in robots? Why?

We all are already surrounded by robots and I think yes I am too an extent interested in them as well. It will be amazing to see the robots doing things that we don’t like making us more productive. So, for example, when a robot would be driving my car, I will have time to read my novel or have a chat with my friend.

Do you like robots to work at your home?

I am pretty content with robots working at my home doing things that I really don’t like. So, for example, things like cleaning the room or the car, well if the robot does it I am good with it. Or, for sometimes make food for me. But, then depending entirely on them, does not suits me well. Allowing the robot to cook food for me or drive car for me, is not something I will go for. Sometimes it is good, but there are times you wish to do things on your own, spend time with people you love. I think balancing between both is where the things will go.

Do you want to take a car in which robot is the driver?

I would love to have a car with a robot in it, but only if there is an option of manually driving the car as well. Having a robot every time in the car, will just take away the fun of driving the car. The fun that you get, the rush of reaching to a place, the fact that you can control something is amazing. Although, having a robot will help in having those long trips but a permanent driver is something I’ll avoid.

Will robots replace human beings in the workplace completely?

Completely, might not be possible. But, yes to a very large extent, in the near future, robots will surely replace humans. And they have done in the past as well. There were times when people were given jobs only for data entry, this is now handled easily using computers. But, in my opinion for jobs like teaching or even software jobs will continue to require manual intervention.
