Sample Answer

As a philanthropist, I am generous and have concern for humanity. I utilise my time, energy and other resources to help others. The nature serves and supports the mankind without expecting anything in return. Likewise, we should also serve others unconditionally as often as we can. It takes around an hour to reach office from my home. So, I usually leave at 7:45 am every day to reach office in time. Few days ago, by chance, I got late for the office as my alarm clock did not ring in the morning. Moreover, that day I had to give a presentation to the board.

While on the way to office, I stopped my car at traffic signal. Suddenly, I saw an old man sitting across the road and had bare minimum clothes over his body. He was chilled to the bone due to extreme cold weather. He was probably starving and looking for some food. I really wanted to help him by giving him my blazer and some money so that he could buy some food and clothes. The moment I decided to get off the car to help him, the traffic started moving due to green signal. I was unable to stop my car in the moving traffic. Moreover, I was getting late for the presentation as well. Therefore, I did not wait anymore and continued moving towards my office.

I felt as helpless as I had to choose between the duty and desire to serve. That incident shook me to the core and I kept thinking about that old man throughout the day. Although I was appreciated and applauded for the presentation by the board members, I was still feeling deficient and desolate.

IELTS Essay Sample Questions # Sleep Deprivation

People sleep less than before in many countries, causing sleep deprivation. Why do people sleep less? What effect does it have on individuals and society?

SAMPLE ANSWER

Sleeping patterns have drastically changed in the past semi-centennials. Increased work-load, competitiveness and the dramatically changing landscape has left many people awestruck and others tired. One day seems shorter, schedules are crammed and precious sleep hours are sacrificed – tossing, turning or working. This has led to sleep deprivation amongst individuals.

With sleep deprivation, more people are becoming stressed increasing the amount of anxiety, depression and sleeplessness among individuals. Medical directors at major universities have claimed economy as a major factor for losing sleep. There are many clocking more than average hours while there are others, left with no job at hand. In both scenarios, the stress is overwhelming.

Sleep Deprivation
Aside from financial anxieties, in just a decade, society has become more around-the clock and more complex. With the advent of the internet, cell-phones, we are increasingly becoming 24-7. People are able to be active at any time. This increased activeness has led to people ignoring their sleep patterns and working in odd hours as well.

Sleep-deprivation causes sleep loss- induced neuron behavioral effects which often go unrecognized. For example – attention deficiency disorders, problems in judgement and decision making, such as medical errors. Often the performance of employees is observed to decline in short term recall of working memory. Even further, any work requiring divergent thinking deteriorates with time for individuals.

Overall, the changing landscape of business and the coming of internet has changed the way people sleep often creating troubles, that go unseen. With large number of individuals competing to make a mark, the society in large has become workaholic, with times even causing performance degradation.

SAMPLE ANSWER

Street markets are a highly popular phenomenon in a lot of cities around the world. They not only provide a variety of products in different categories but also support the local economy as well. Street markets around the world are set up daily, weekly or monthly!  These markets are standalone events in themselves, and going to shop in them can be a quite wonderful and satisfying experience.

Actually, our locality is one of the main and busiest areas in the city and has one such market too. This market is set up each day, near the main crossroads nearby my place. It is indeed quite large and contains more than a hundred makeshift shops. This market is quite an old one and is being set up every day since the last ten years. The local government setup has helped the people here a lot and has created separate spaces for the shopkeepers. I also go there to purchase a few things every now and then. The first time I went there, I had to buy a few things for my home such as vegetables, fruits, and other routine items.

As soon as I went inside the market area, I found that it was very crowded. People were walking in all directions, hurrying to buy things. With a little difficulty, I found and purchased everything that I needed to buy and then sat down on a bench to relax. It was a hot summer day hence I decided to relax along with a glass of sweet lemonade and some locally made snacks. All the vendors and shopkeepers there are very nice and provide goods at reasonable prices. Although very busy, the market has a very nice atmosphere, and I find it a good experience to go there and buy things.

IELTS SPEAKING TASK 2 CUE CARD RECENT ONLINE SHOPPING EXPERIENCE Best IELTS Band 7 Coaching in dehradun

Sample Answer

There aren’t many malls and brands available where I live in. That’s why buying products online is the only optional left. This has made me a frequent buyer from online portals. I keep buying my daily need products from different-different websites.

Here, I can recall one of the incidents of my online shopping experiences as I had never faced that problem before. Recently I was in need of buying a watch for my brother’s birthday. I wanted to buy a latest watch from Casio Retro Vintage collection and this watch was not available with many of the online shopping sites but I found that watch on Jabong.com. Even though I am a confident buyer, I was quite sceptical about this site.

My all the doubts turned into reality after receiving my order. Being a fragile item packaging should be the first concern. But to my surprise, the watch I ordered wasn’t packed properly. When I opened the package, I found that watch was completely broken. After that I tried to get in touch with the customer care. I made many calls to them, sadly they were unable to provide any proper answer to my queries related to the return or refund of my amount.

This left me really helpless. I have found this one of the major drawbacks also of online shopping as we don’t meet the sales representative in person. Few weeks ago I got the mail for inconvenience caused by them to me but again there was no information related to refund.

Overall, it was a disappointing experience. From that day onwards I have decided not to buy anything from that particular website only.
