Cue Card – Popular Teacher

IELTS Cue Card # Popular Teacher

Describe a popular teacher that you know.
You should say:

  • what this teacher looks like
  • what sort of person this teacher is
  • what this teacher helped you to learn
  • And explain why this teacher is popular

Sample Answer:

I will be talking about my teacher, Mr Sahay. He used to be my tuition teacher (8th year) for mathematics and science.

He was an elderly man in his late 60s, a retired engineer who had spent most of his life in South Africa. He was a true gentleman, well-mannered and highly educated, who was full of both bookish knowledge and knowledge gained firsthand from personal experiences. Apart from helping me with solving maths and science problems. He helped me with life skills, exposed me to Sydney Sheldon, Dean Koontz, Agatha Christie and how to be chivalrous.

He used to be really good with the taught subjects. His classes were quite interactive and fun-filled. He always had a practical approach towards everything in life. I believe he was the most popular human being and a teacher. I sometimes wish I could meet him again and be his student.

IELTS SPEAKING – A Good law which has recently been introduced

IELTS SPEAKING TASK CUE CARD

A Good law which has recently been introduced

  • What that law is?
  • Benefits of that law?
  • Why do you like that law?

Sample Answer

My country is a democratic country. It is the largest democracy in the world. Since the independence of our country, many laws have been implemented by the government for the betterment of society.

Here I would like to talk about a law which was introduced recently, around 2 years ago. It’s called LGBT law. This law is concerning the recognition of same-sex relationships, including same-sex marriages and domestic relationships. Originating from very conservative societies, lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgender people used to hide their identity in front of others. Earlier, people with the same-sex preferences used to hide their identity because they were scared to get the criticism from others. These people struggled a lot and had a legal fight for years to get this law implemented. At the end the government took the decision in their favour. After getting the legal approval from the government, they feel free to face the people in the society. Now they can roam more confidently without feeling awkward because of their choice of partner.

I personally feel that in a society everyone should be treated equally. Any discrimination on the basis of caste, religion or sex preferences is morally unacceptable. Earlier these people with the same-sex orientation used to feel out of the part of the society. In my view, this law is a boon for their existence.

Sample Answer

I have been brought up in a family with moral values. One of the most important virtues I have learnt is helping others in need. This value has enabled me to help everyone around me in different ways without expecting anything in return. The most recent incident I can recall was when I helped a family of three people to reach their destination.

I was coming back after dropping my friend off at her hostel located in the outskirts of the city. I noticed a car parked next to the road. The driver was desperately trying to signal other drivers for help. This sight piqued my interest, as the car was a taxi from another city. I stopped my car next to it and got down to speak to the driver. I then came to know that they were out of fuel and could not go any further. There were no fuel pumps nearby, and the family were getting late to reach their relative’s wedding in due time before the celebration started.

Without wasting any more time, I offered to drive them to the hotel where the wedding was taking place and told them to shift to my car. They happily accepted my offer and sat in my car with their luggage. Before leaving, I gave the driver directions to a fuel pump. I took this decision because it was a small family with a one-year-old child. Everyone looked exhausted due to the long journey. They were very happy and relieved when they reached their destination. They thanked me for the timely help. I returned home with a sense of satisfaction.

IELTS Cue Card: Describe a television programme that you watch

Describe a television programme that you watch.

You should say:

  • What kind of television programme it is?
  • What usually happens in the television programme?
  • Why you enjoy watching the television programme?

And explain why you would recommend the television programme to the other people.

Sample Answer:

I don’t watch TV so often, but whenever I find a chance, I always try and watch a show called “Kings of Restoration”. It is featured on the History Channel. It is a great show for anyone who has an interest in art and creativity.

The show starts with the announcement of the product received recently for restoration. Rick Dale, the owner and the host, along with his team, explores the product and tells about its current condition and what ideas they have for fixing it. They get a variety of products, from old broken vending machines to automobiles. The whole team works hand in hand to get the original raw parts and prepare the required designs. The show telecasts the way they work on each of the old parts.

I love watching this show for a number of reasons. I used to team up with my dad as a child and watch the whole series with uttermost fascination. So, this show holds memories with my dad. As both of us have a deep, profound interest in machines and tools, we would often talk over our own suggestions and ideas while watching it.

This TV programme has also helped me come up with a lot of creative solutions for my old goods and helped me restore many items that weren’t in use. The best part about the show is always the ending scene when they finally give away the restored product to the owner. It leaves every one of us, including the customer, enthralled and amazed. I recommend this show to everyone because it’s a perfect Sunday afternoon show for both the young and old. It not only entertains the viewers but also provides a lot of knowledge at the same time.
