IELTS Essay Sample Answer # Travel Choices

You should spend 40 minutes on this task.
Some people love to travel abroad while others find it better to first visit their own country before travelling abroad. Discuss Both Views. You should write at least 250 words.

SAMPLE ANSWER

Over the past few decades, the international tourism industry has seen a boom period. From cheap air travel, to the rise of the middle class, more and more people are now travelling. Although, there are  people who believe that it is always good to visit the nearby abroad countries, there are many who love to take on the domestic travel before any international travel. In my opinion, it is a great idea to visit international places but one must prefer to have a good knowledge about the local area, before hand.

To begin with, people’s knowledge about their own country and its brands and products has become very sketchy with the increased globalization. For instance, people in India are likely to know more about American television series than the 18th century Indian struggle. It should, therefore, be clear that citizens need to know much more about their own countries and visit their own culture before visiting the other countries. India has versatile culture and incredible locations. India has approximate 35 UNESCO heritage sites and widely visit by tourist.

Secondly, people reap high economic benefits if they are well traveled in their country of birth. This is because they are very much aware of travelling and now their country well. This not only provides them better business opportunities but helps them when they go for the foreign travels. Exploring other countries is in trend and International tourist count increasing year by year.

In conclusion, although few argue outright against foreign travel, there are surely reasons for domestic travel to be preferred.

IELTS Speaking Sample Answer # Communication

When two people exchange their ideas, share their opinions and discuss things, it is then they communicate.

How is communication changing between people?

Communication has definitely changed in the past few decades. From communicating through pigeon dropping letters we are now able to see each other while talking. Earlier people went on to meet others personally, but with advancement in technology people are now comfortable sitting in their room and interacting through smart phones. Instead of those long letters now see the cut and short messages.

It used to be common to talk to strangers. Do you think it’s okay to talk to people you don’t know?

I think it is fine only with an intention of knowing the other person or may be just passing time. Because no matter how great friends we have, they also were strangers at some point of time. But, if one starts interacting with complete strangers, whom we never meet of have no connection in common, sometimes it turns out in a very negative way, especially if one is traveling alone.

How often do you start up a conversation with people you don’t know?

I do it rarely, especially when I am in a journey and I see my comrades. I remember, there was a journey that I took and I met people from my company and we didn’t knew each other. So, we talked off and got to know about the company and stuff. The other time I was taking a journey to Puri during the path yatra and met so many people during my journey. Some told me about the temple’s history, others shared their passion for touching the rope of the chariot.

Think about how your Grandmother talks with people. Is it the same as how you talk to people?

My grandmother is very sincere when she talks to people. I have seen her speaking her heart out, being hones with what she feels about the other person. Rarely, does she speaks with those she is not interested in. Too an extent I think I am like her only, because I also speak to the ones I like to.

Communication

How do you think will people communicate in the future?

I think it will be all technology for communicating. Most probably, people will communicate using their minds. Technologies where people will be able to send their thoughts off to the other person will be available. It might even be possible that people are able to feel the other person virtually and interact with them.

How have smart phones changed communication?

Smart phones have taken talking as the form of communication to messaging as the foremost method we use to communicate. Earlier people interacted using a call, now we have whatsapp, social media and so much at our tip. There was wait in earlier times, the curiosity for the letter about to come, and then the fun in reading it and writing back. Now, it is very instant. The moment, I feel like talking with someone, I can interact in jus seconds, get a reply and move on. Although, it has made conversations easier but I think it has taken away the fun of waiting and reading about the other person life.

Name at least 10 forms of communication.

Communication can take place in any way. Some of the most common methods of communication are –

  1. email
  2. facebook
  3. twitter
  4. whatsapp
  5. twoo
  6. messaging
  7. google +
  8. voip
  9. video calling
  10. letters

Do you think people can communicate with ghosts and spirits?

I am not very sure of it. But, I think if people claim to be able to talk to ghost and spirits we should definitely look into this matter. Because, if it is possible this means that ghost and spirits do exist and it does brings into forefront a very big question for science as science fails to explains the presence of them.

What is the most basic form of communication?

No matter how much advancement in technology happens, I think still the most basic form of communication remains to be our mouth. It is with talking that we are able to communicate and make some lasting friendships and relations. Apart from that, however, social media is surely emerging as a basic form of communicating with people.
