For the past one year, you were a member of a local club, but now you wish to discontinue with the membership.

Write a letter to the manager. In your letter,

  • state what kind of membership you had and how much you have paid for it?
  • explain how you have benefited from the club.
  • give reasons on why you want to leave.

You must write at least 150 words.

 

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing in regard to cancel my membership at Gymkhana Public English club.

I enrolled in the club, last year in March and have been paying the monthly fees of Rupees 500. The club has benefited me in several ways by giving numerous opportunities to explore myself. The hesitation of speaking in English that was there initially,got replaced by the confidence of speaking English fluently.

Sadly, given my circumstances, the membership at the club needs to be discontinued. The reason is a great assignment opportunity that has come my way, requiring my undue attention for the next year. Thus, I would no longer be able to attend any activities held in this place. If I am not mistaken, my Rupees 4700 deposit will be returned to me upon membership cancellation.

You want to study at Oxford in London, but are facing financial issues. 

Write a letter to the student representative asking for information about scholarship provided to students.

You should write at least 150 words.

 

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing in regard to the information required regarding scholarships provided at Post Graduate Level in Oxford University.

The university has selected me for the post graduate course on Liberal Arts, starting from 6th December. Recently, a letter arrived at my doorstep, from the university, stating that the cost of the course is $ 50000, which is five hundred thousand in my currency.

Although, I had my savings but the fee is way beyond the money in my bank account. I am very much interested in enrolling for this course and would like to know if there are any scholarships available. Also, what is the criteria for the scholarship.

I am Indian by nationality and got a score of 355/360. You can send me the information by either fax or email me at avinava@gmail.com.

Write a letter to your friend. In your letter

ANSWER (Band 7.5 Level):
Dear Rebecca,

I would like to appreciate your decision of learning to drive. There will be a whole new start of your life after that.
If I start up with the paybacks of having a driving license, the list will go endless. The first and foremost thing is that you will feel self-dependent this way. Neither you will feel restricted nor the oddities of public transport will bother you. Moreover, you can save your precious time.
As you have asked about a driving school, here is one I would like to suggest. Success Driving School will be my first advice as this is recognized as one of the most renowned driving school in New Delhi. They have a well organized training program and flexible timings. More importantly, their trainers are truly professional. You will get the best out of your bucks.
Firstly, for theoretical exam, it would be a great idea to purchase a traffic rule guide published by City Traffic Control Police. Secondly, I would advice you to keep a first aid box handy. I hope you will give your best in this training. As the saying goes, “practice makes a man perfect” I am sure after a few months, you will start driving confidently. Dear Akansha,

I am sorry for not writting for so long. My work keeps me so busy, that I never have a minute to myself. Hope this letter finds you in good health. The reason for writing this letter is to share with you a great news.

Do you remember some time back I shared with you the desire of travelling around world and not spend a penny from my side. Well, you may call it luck or blessings, but the fact is that the dream has come true. Two weeks back, a letter from BBC arrived on my doorstep asking if I was interested in the job of travelling abroad and covering the cultures all around the world. All I was required to do was pack my bags and report to their Delhi head quarters.

The decision was quick and I quit my software job to do something I always wanted to do and trust me the decision was worth taking. Apart from this, I will be coming to Bombay next week and would love to meet you. Tell me if you are present in Bombay during that time and we will plan of going to two three places.
