SAMPLE ANSWER

A generation ago, people worked hard to get a respectable job in their hometown and settle with their parents. With globalisation  making its way to our homes, people explored new areas in search of better opportunities. However, we have now shifted towards an era where people want to work for themselves. I completely disagree with this idea.

Firstly, it should never be about following an idea of someone else. So, if an X person got successful after opening their own company, it does not necessarily guarantee you success as well. Even more, every individual has their own unique talents and one should always work on their strengths. For example : if Sachin Tendulkar thought about opening a company of cricket equipment we could have had the best company for cricket equipages but surely not the God of cricket.

Secondly, a market is best run when their is a balance of individual goals. If everyone started having their startups we would be left with few who would run it, resulting in lot of failures. Thirdly, starting a company demands time and patience with no guarantee of success. If in a society every individual starts struggling, the society in large will suffer on quality of life.

In conclusion, although it is common belief that the net worth of a person is the best parameter of success, I believe every one must pick the juggle that fits best in their puzzle of their life.

IELTS Essay Sample Answer # Subsidised Memberships

IELTS Essay Sample Answer # Subsidised Memberships

You should spend 40 minutes on this task.
Some employers offer their employees subsidised membership of sports and gym. Some people believe that this is an effective way of improving your productivity, while others are of the opinion that there is no benefit in doing so.
Discuss both views.
You should write at least 250 words.

SAMPLE ANSWER

Every company across the world wants the best of the employees to be working for it. Although, some take it for granted, there are many business empires that make sure that their employees work productively.

On one hand, if the workers are stress free and more jolly their working time will be more efficient leading to higher levels of output and service. Companies that offer sports and gym membership are more likely to have a staff that balances work life quite well. This can be more motivating than pay increments, perks or financial rewards.

Conversely, it is not guaranteed that such perks could help employees perform better. For instance, not necessarily employees will avail these services. Even more, it is easier to quantify the target related approaches. Example, it is simpler to find if a job training worked out or not. But, for health of employees and its relation with productivity is hard to find.

Overall, the health related subsidies surely are attractive but they do lack the measurability factor. Spending more funds in training the employees in newer domains seems to be a better use of HR budget.

IELTS Writing Sample Questions # Social Status

The question below has been taken from British Council.

You should spend about 40 minutes on this task.

Write about the following topic:

A person’s worth nowadays seems to be judged according to social status and material possessions. Old-fashioned values, such as honour, kindness and trust, no longer seem important.

To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Write at least 250 words.

SAMPLE ANSWER 1

We are living in a world surrounded by people with goals, however, sadly the goals seem to be centrally oriented towards the career. In times, when we judge the potential of the other person on the basis of how well off her or she is ,there are some who believe that no matter what the behaviour does comes first.

A person cannot help another individual until and unless he or she is able to help himself or herself. In a world, where money can buy almost everything, judging a person’s worth based on the social status, surely seems more logical. Even more, with millions of people all over the world fighting for success, a person who gets it must have definitely worked smarter than others. For example, there are millions of those who code, but it was ultimately Mark Zukerberg who could bring out the idea of Facebook.

On the other hand, judging a person only on the basis of the money might not be the right thing to do. A person who cannot share is similar to the person who does not have. For example, although Steve Jobs was more of a genius that Bill Gates, it is ultimately Bill Gates who helped millions of people get education. Even more, there are people like Mother Teresa or Malala who have changed the way we see at others.

Overall, in my opinion, certainly people are judged on the basis of the credit they have, but we have still not forgotten the good deeds that make a person. No matter how successful a person is, he or she is ultimately judged on the basis of his or her behaviour.

SAMPLE ANSWER 2

With the advancement of technology and media the lives of individuals have become much more vulnerable than ever. People know about others more than ever in the last few decades. There are some people who believe in modern times, the worth of an individual depends on the social status that he or she has while many others are of the opinion, that the behaviour of the person still has a very important role to play.

We are in times when the lives of all the successful people is like an open book for us. Although, this has helped people in understanding how to gain success, people have started comparing every successful person with the one  they know about. So, for example, Sandeep Maheshwari might not be considered as successful as Bill Gates, simply because he does not have that much of money. Even more, people with madness rushing in their lives have surely started judging the success on the external factors.

However, no matter how successful an individual is, ultimately he or she is also judged on the basis of the good deed he or she has done. It is the good work that does make an impression on other people lives. For instance, Steve Jobs might be considered a revolutionary figure by many, but it is Bill Gates who is admired by all. Even more, there are people like Mother Teresa and Malala that are loved more than anyone in the world.

Overall, in my opinion, surely people have become litel materialistic with the changing times. However, ultimately it is the kindness and the nature of the individual that impacts the people all around the world.

IELTS Sample Essay Question # Prevention from Calamity

You should spend 40 minutes on this task.

It is the responsibility of the government to protect its citizens from any natural calamity. Do you agree or disagree?

You should write at least 250 words.

SAMPLE ANSWER 1

Natural calamity whenever occur cause a huge damage. Although, some people believe that there is nothing much can be done about them, neither by citizens nor government. There are some of the opinion that prevention from natural calamity must be the responsibility of the government. In my opinion, surely government has a huge role to play but they are not the only key players.

Government is the one having authority to make decisions for the millions of people living in the country and their decision surely have an impact. Passing a law that sets the standards for any construction will surely bring about changes and reduce the impact of natural calamities. Even more, there should be more campaign for combating natural disasters similar to the life taking diseases. In addition, once the calamity has occurred, governments must ensure that the rescue team reaches to the incident as fast as possible.

However, imposing everything on government is not really a pragmatic approach. Surely, government can make laws but until and unless we as individuals follow them, there is not much that can be done. Even more, people should act more pro actively while construction for their buildings are done, ensuring that the material used is right.

Overall, authorities surely have a major role to play in ensuring there are less damages being made post a calamity. However, nothing fruitful can be done if only one party tries. It must be a joint effort from both sides, citizens as well as government.

Prevention from Calamity

SAMPLE ANSWER 2

Natural Calamities often happen unannounced and the worst ones shake things up for the entire world. Knowing the impact they have made on our lives, some people believe that it is the responsibility of the government to ensure that the citizens of its country are safe during such a scenario. However, there are others who believe that government is of individuals just like us, having little control over natural calamities. In my opinion, surely government cannot do everything but surely certain steps can be taken by them.

Firstly, passing a law that ensures that a certain standard is maintained while doing any sort of construction can ensure that the impact of natural calamities is reduced. Secondly, government can make sure that the number of trees are increased and in cases of building societies, the plan must be such that it is surrounded by trees and other natural things. Nature often is the best way to fight back calamities. Thirdly, government can ensure that the people are made aware of any possible calamity through mass communication.

However, governance is only one part of dealing with the problem. Nothing can be done if individuals are not pro-active. It is the responsibility of the individuals to make sure that the they do follow the rules. Even more, in case there are no rules, they use the best quality product while building home or offices. Also, choosing places that are far away from the calamity zones must be preferred.

Overall, natural calamities have a very large impact on our lives and we must make sure that proper steps are taken to ensure that the post effect of the calamity are reduced. This is the responsibility of both the citizens and government.
