Sample Answer:

In today’s materialistic world, the demand and production of consumer goods are rising at an unprecedented rate. This trend is exacerbating an enormous pressure on the environment. This essay will look at the reasons behind this issue and propose some solutions.

One of the main causes comes in the form of the infamous material plastic. It has become so widespread that a world without it is quite unimaginable, toothbrushes to medical machinery are all made up of plastic. From the making of it (made from refined crude oil) to the eventual largely improper disposal, it is one major bio hazard all the way through.

Another cause and effect factor would be e-waste. Despite electronics being fairly new to this world, they have already caused more than their fair share of environmental damage. While the fad for newer technologies is to blame for speeding up the damage, most of the blame lies on the improper disposal of these compound gadgets. Electronic garbage from various devices contain dangerous chemicals such as lead, cadmium, beryllium, mercury, and brominated flame retardants. When they are exposed to nature in land dumps, they can make the environment a more toxic place.

It is an unspoken agreement that the larger demand causes for larger exploitation. This would be fine if it weren’t for the fact that most of the assorted wastes have their own disposal methods. Sadly, these processes are largely unheeded by waste disposal authorities who instead choose to incinerate unsorted scraps, causing an even bigger environmental issue.

This is where the lack of stern policies come into play making what could be a great solution or regulation policy into a loophole allowing further abuse of the natural world. Enforcement of these pre-existing policies is a must, especially on large scale corporations. While the common people can do their bit by using the 3 R’s, we will make much faster progress if the authorities are questioned and regulated before the population.

IELTS Essay # Child Labour

You should spend 40 minutes on this task.
Child Labour is a major concern all over the world.
What are the causes of it?
How can the problem be solved?
Write at least 250 words.

SAMPLE ANSWER

Child labor is an international concern as it damages, destroys and spoils the present and the future of the child and the country. A child is the hope of a nation and yet when millions of them are deprived of a carefree childhood, it directly impacts the growth of the country. Although child labor is common in most of the parts of the world, it finds its crunches more in developing and underdeveloped sections.

There are several reasons for forcing a child to work. Firstly, it increases family income. A family which is finding it difficult to make its need meet is more likely to send their child to work than to school. Secondly, child labor is more likely to work at lower wages, which is exactly more factories are likely to hire them. Even more, a child is less likely to indulge in dishonesty and is less liable to misbehave or be violent, which is what makes them perfect for domestic aid.

Child Abuse

Although it might seem that the issue of child labor can never be solved, there are several ways in which we can surely fight the issue. Firstly, the government needs to make sure that the laws made strictly adhere. Even more, the general public should be made aware of the severe consequences of child labor. Secondly, an increase in employment opportunity for adults would help in overcoming the issue of poverty which is more likely to reduce the number of children being forced into labor work.

Overall, it is not only the responsibility of government to ensure that the number of child labors is reduced. But every educated person of a country to ensure that the children of the country get a bright future, a future that every child deserves to have. (301 Words)

IELTS Essay # Juvenile Delinquency

Write an essay in about 250 words on “Youth Crime” and discuss the reasons and best possible solutions of the problem.

One of the disquieting problems faced by today’s world is – Youth Crime or juvenile delinquency. It is also known as “juvenile offending”. When a minor or individual younger than the statutory age of majority, participates in illegal behavior, then it falls under the category of youth crime. It is highly disturbing that the rate of such crimes is increasing alarmingly. Not only in India but around the globe it is spreading its tentacles to enforce criminal activities which lead to an unstable society. Robbery, rape, drug dealing, murders etc. are some of the horrible faces of youth crimes. In this essay, I will examine the reasons behind this worrying trend and propose some solutions.

Recent psychological studies have revealed that 6-16% of male teens and 2-9% female teens are suffering from conduct disorders which drag youths towards such heinous crimes. These disorders can vary from oppositional-defiant disorder (which may not be aggressive in nature) to antisocial personality disorder. Both of them can develop during childhood. But strangely, only 6% of the youth criminals are habitual offenders.

Another reason behind this increasing rate is the higher aspiration of today’s youth and the desire of a luxurious life. Of course, in case of sexual crimes it is the psychological disorder which is the major reason. Not to mention that nuclear families, education system and highly career oriented parents who do not have time to keep an eye on the moral development of their offspring are some other leading contributors.

The world has to be sensitive enough to deal with this challenge. More juvenile courts are to be established and a stringent law is the need of the hour. At educational institutions, psychological counseling facilities should be available and more attention should be paid on the moral development of children, especially teenagers. Rehabilitation process should be up to the mark. Moreover, youth is the most imperative section of our society so for the unblemished future this generation should be morally uplifted.

To sum up, a combination of factors have made our young minds offenders. However, I believe that if we join our hands together, we can make the world a safer place for everyone.
