Solving environmental problems for the present generation to sacrifice our present convenient way of living 

The key to solving environmental problems is for the present generation to sacrifice their convenient way of life for the sake of future generations. Do you agree or disagree with this statement?

Sample Answer

Evidently, problems related to environmental degradation are rising day-by-day. Some people argue that by compromising luxurious living style, we can solve this problem easily. However, I believe that less usage of technology and by being more responsible towards our surrounding, human race can tackle this issue effectively.

To begin with, one of the most effective steps can be taken by making some changes in people’s daily life activities. Unknowingly, many of us get indulged in those actions, which can be hazardous for our environment. For instance, using plastic materials, although we are all aware that plastic bags are harmful for the environment, people still use plastic bags. In addition, running some campaigns and spreading the information about harmful effects of using plastic bottles and bags can save earth. Furthermore, scarcity of drinking water is the major rising problem these days. Though humans are blessed with abundance of water, depletion of water is increasing in many parts of the world.  By making some changes in our habits, water related problem can be solved.

Furthermore, the advent of technology is adversely affecting our environment. Demand for the production is rising at alarming level. However, limited use of technology and promoting more usage of natural resources such as solar, water and tidal energy can solve this problem.

To conclude, we could get the chance to lead this present lifestyle after struggling for many years. I believe that by considering some above mentioned steps we can save our earth for descendants without hampering our present life.

Dear Sir,

First of all, I would like to congratulate you for successfully completing two years as a publication house. You keep adding interesting columns in your newspaper. Readers like me appreciate your articles. I am writing in regard to the feature your newspaper is planning to introduce for which readers are welcomed to provide their suggestions.

You can consider ‘Mind, Body and Spirit’ as a subject of interest for readers. Due to the modern lifestyle, people are overloaded with responsibilities. In order to fulfill these responsibilities, they often overlook their health. As a result, they suffer from depression, anxiety and other health issues. In this column you can provide information about how a healthy mind is important for a healthy body. You can further discuss in detail about how to get the same with the help of spiritualism, yoga and regular exercise etc.

This topic is indeed of great importance because healthy people are happy people or vice-versa. Readers will definitely show their keen interest in this column and would love to learn new tips for leading a balanced life.

The table illustrates the information about the data of the registered students in five different subjects in an educational institution for three distinct years 2005, 2010 and 2015.

Overall, it can be observed that Engineering stream was the most popular while law remained the least preferred course over the complete duration. The trend of choosing the subject was fluctuating in all the three years.

Looking at the statistics, in the year 2005, the highest opted subject was Health with 928 students, closely followed by art with 900 enrollments and Law had the least entries with 652 students. In contrast, in the year 2010, Art was the most favoured subject by a majority of 910 pupils, Engineering and Health were preferred in an equivalent proportion of 870 each and Law being the least considered by 620 students.

Further, in the year 2015, Engineering gained popularity with 972 registrations, the second popular was IT with 940 and the number of students registered in health courses fell down to 708. Notably, Law was the valued subject whereas Engineering and IT roared over time.

These days young children spend a lot of time using computers, tablet and smartphones. Some people think that introducing children to technology at a young age is beneficial. Others believe that they would benefit more from traditional games.

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your knowledge and experience.

Sample Answer

Technology is a significant avenue for learning and education in today’s contemporary world. In the earlier days, parents were not certain about exposing their children to smartphones and computers as the technology was not advanced back then. However, with the universal popularity of tablets and smartphones, connecting to apps and games, the Internet has now become a common ground for most children. According to my presumption, till a tender age, children should not be exposed to digital games and they need to be encouraged to indulge in traditional and conventional games.

On the one hand, technical knowledge helps children to learn at a faster pace than their adults. It also provides them with a solid platform to gain technical experience and improve their problem solving skills through visual experience. Educational games on tablets and smartphones act as a delivery medium for learning content and helps in cognitive development. Computers and smartphones also operate as a creative outlet for improving a child’s concentration level. Many apps available online have innovative and fascinating techniques that will help learning to be fun both for the child as well as the parents. 

In different circumstances, our ancestors were wise enough to form traditional games and activities that are equally beneficial. Some believe that digital games lead to isolation, behavioral and health issues among young children. Getting involved in traditional games will tend to remind us of our roots. Playing outdoors with members of our peer group will also help kids to improve their socializing skills and physical health. Young children will get in the habit of co-operation and team building with the help of conventional games.

To conclude, traditional games improves the physical health of children while digital games help them with mental health. As long as parents supervise their children and usage does not get out of control, technology can prove to be leverage. While traditional games are losing popularity these days but they can regain their importance if promoted by parents and teachers.
