Banning Mobile Phones # Essay For IELTS

Some people believe that mobile phones must be banned in public places such as libraries, shops or public transport.
To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Write atleast 250 words.

SAMPLE ANSWER

Mobile Phones have become the rage of present times and has led to formation of a new kind of addiction i.e. of mobile phones. People are often seen on their phones almost every time. Some people, therefore believe that a ban must be put on using phones in public places such as libraries, shops or public transport. In my opinion, banning mobile phones will surely have great benefits, however, it will also create a sense of restriction.

Mobile phones bring with them their own set of issues. Firstly, phones are too anti social as people are too busy sending messages to talk to the people in front of them, for example in a shop when they are being served. Secondly, signals can cause problems in some public places such as hospitals by interfering with delicate instruments or equipments. Thirdly, in public places such as libraries, music halls or gallerias, phones can annoy and ruin the experience of others.

However, phones also bring with them some added advantages. Firstly, they can be useful in case of emergencies such as accidents in public places. Secondly, they are useful for families living overseas to get in touch which may happen any time even when out in public. Thirdly, phones are multi-functional and can be used as recording devices or cameras. Even more a phone can easily be put into silent mode.
Overall, I believe, mobile phones should be banned in places where they interfere with with equipment, interrupt a service or break rules, such as in a library, but in all other public places they should be allowed as long they are used with respect to others.

High Level Positions # Essay For IELTS

Most high level positions in companies are filled by men even though the work force in many developed countries is more than 50 percent female. Companies must allocate a certain percentage of these positions to women.
To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Write atleast 250 words.

SAMPLE ANSWER

Every individual is unique and brings with them their own skill sets. However, in recent times, it has been observed, that the work places often have more women than men, but the only a slight number of them handle the high level positions. There are opinions that the number of women in higher positions must be increased. I believe that every individual must be given the opportunity to rise up, however, giving men or women a certain position just because of the gender could be quite unfair in the competitive times that we live in.

Allocating or reserving a certain percentage of high order seats for women could bring with it great benefits. Firstly, the chances of discrimination gets reduced. Secondly, it creates a supportive work environment for other female employees to know that a certain percentage of management is female. Thirdly, women have valuable skills of communication and diplomacy for higher levels of opportunities in the company. Assuring certain seats for them in higher positions, gives women the satisfaction that their skills can be helpful for the place they work. This allows a room for increased efficiency of work force.

On the other hand, if not handled properly, it too has few negative aspects. Firstly, companies cannot be sure that they will receive suitable female applicants to fill a certain percentage of senior positions. Secondly, this forces companies to fulfill percentage even though it may be to their detriment. Thirdly, senior positions must be allocated on the basis of experience, skills and genders.

Overall, in my opinion, it is not just about reserving certain percentage for women, it is about creating an environment that allows equal opportunities for all women. However, allocating few seats for women could be a good way to ensuring such an environment, if done in the right spirit.

Importance Of Schools # Essay For IELTS

Some people think that schools are merely turning children into good citizens and workers, rather than benefiting them as individuals. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Write atleast 250 words.

SAMPLE ANSWER

Schools are the second most important place for a child after house. They have a great impact on what a child becomes into. However, some people believe that in present times, the main focus of schools is to turn their students into excellent civilians or employees of the country rather than nurturing their individualism. Although schools are for learning the various aspects of the society, I believe that it depends on more on the individual, how they can turn the situations around for themselves.

Schools are a very important part of our society and impart knowledge to the students. However, people believe that they have simply turned to a place where a child learns how to fit in the society. Firstly, the schools teach discipline which in turn makes children into effective workers. It is also taught to children what is right and wrong i.e. what is assumed to be right or wrong by the society in general. Even more, schools instill the cultural values that are shared by the society. The methodology adapted by schools brings into minds of the students the different ways by which a person can succeed in the job market.

On the other hand, few people are of the opinion that students learn individualism in schools. A school helps children discover their potential. To illustrate, a school organizes various cultural events like painting, dancing, singing or writing. There are even several sports that are played. A child who participates in different functions get to know that their innermost potential. Secondly, after a certain age, a child is allowed to choose the subjects they like, this in turn helps them be prepared for the future. Thirdly, a child through school gets to know the environment in which they live in.

Overall, a school is just a medium of imparting knowledge. It depends on the individual as well other factors such as the environment of the country or the house, which decides the way a child grabs the different education conveyed.
