We all have some days in our lives that shape our next moments in life. These are the deciding days, the ones in which we either take special decisions or some important events occur in our lives. Let us today have a look at the cue card questions that might be asked related to important day in life.

Talk about an important day in your life.

You should say:

  • when this day was
  • where you were and what happened
  • if you were alone or with others

and explain why this day was important to you.

Sample Answer 1:

There are days we never remember and the ones that we never forget. I have had some memorable days in my life and the one that I believe changed lot of things about me or may be made way for better things to come up, was when I got a job as a blogger. Initially, I had some blogs of mine in which I wrote things here and there but I clearly remember wanting a job to be able to earn money and I was rejected outright from many jobs, because the ones that I was trying to were of English teacher.

The other day, I went for an interview for a job of English teacher, the person directly rejected me but while turning the pages of my resume, he noticed the name of my blogs. On asking if I write blogs, he instead of offering me a job as an English teacher gave me a job of a content writer for his blog and I have been writing for it since past two years. The reason the day is still important for me is because it marked on a new journey, a journey where I realized that hard work is the key to anything in life and the perseverance to go through those initial days is what makes you successful.

There are days when I just don’t understand anything and days when I feel like a loser, when I get problems I have never heard of and those are the days when I look back and say to myself that if I could write about something I did not had a clue about, I surely can do much better with things, at least I have an idea of. It was that job that helped me become more confident, bold and hard worker. It taught me that there are no excuses, if you want to achieve something, you go about and do that.

Sample Answer 2:

There surely are some important days in everyone’s life and the one that is still the most important day of my life is 4th January 2017. This was the day when I took the first step towards my career, the first step towards my future company. I had been thinking of opening a new venture where in I could teach people and it was on this day that I opened a recurring deposit for the company’s initial work.

It was an amazing day with lot of things happening here and there. I wanted to open the recurring deposit and was eagerly waiting for my salary but then my friend came up to me telling that the bank has got into some issues and won’t be able to transfer our salaries into our accounts. For a second, it was disgusting feeling, because I had been thinking too much about it and then it all came to me crashing down. i was feeling low and went out to have something. And while I was coming back entirely disappointed, something struck me and I went to the ATM to get some cash.

The moment I did the transaction, I was amazed at the amount it showed me. It clearly meant that I have got my salary and could open my recurring deposit. I rushed towards my laptop and opened the bank’s website. For the first time, it did not load but I tried again and it open. Finally, I was able to open a recurring deposit and the feeling was very amazing. It felt as if I had taken the first step towards shaping my future and I hope the day I will need the money, I will be able to use it for my business.

IELTS Cue Card Sample Answer # Computer Games

There is this one thing that most of us have done during their childhood and some do even now and that is playing computer games.Be it playing Mario or the newer games like Counter strike, computer games have always been amazing. Let us today have a look at the questions related to computer games that might be asked as a cue card.

Describe a computer game you have played.

You should say:

  • What it was
  • When you played it
  • What the game was about

And explain how you played this game.

I have never been a huge fan of computer games but the one game that I loved playing as a child on my computer was Mario. I believe Mario is one of the most famous games of our times and it is rarely anyone who has not played the game.

I remember, I was in class fourth when my father brought home computer and at that time the games were sold in CDs. So, me and my friends got a CD and installed it on our computer. We loved the game and played it during holidays. We would have bets as to who will reach to how far a level and how much points a person will score.

We used to keep track of all those things and then if there used to be a tie, we would find out what is the score of the person. There was so much of fun and excitement associated with the game that we hardly got time to think of anything else.

The game was about this guy Mario who was out there to save his queen, so his aim and hence our aim was to make sure that he reaches the queen. To do so, he had to fight lot of enemies and animals and jump through fires and lots more to reach destination.

We used to play the game using keyboard and had some dedicated keys for the particular actions of Mario. Most of the times we used to play in group, but sometimes I even enjoyed playing it alone. But, one thing is for sure, the game was amazing and almost addictive. I have loved it through my entire childhood and remember playing it even when I grew up.

I loved playing computer games as a child, so me and my friends would figure out what is the new game that is being launched and would go and buy its CD. Although, later on the games started becoming available online and we could transfer games through pen drives, I still believe that there was much more fun associated with buying games from CD.

Although, there have many games like angry birds and counter strike that have come up and surely they are very exciting, but the one game that I still love is Doom. It was an amazing game and almost exciting. So, in this game you had your gun and you need to check out every door and see if their is a killer on the other side and kill it before he does, or their is life on the other side.

And in the midst of all that, find out the key that takes you the next level. I used to play this game alone on my  PC and enjoy. But, me and my brother used to have bets as to who will reach a particular stage faster and who will score the more.

I remember those days and it was so much fun, fighting over the computer and playing games and enjoying life.

IELTS Cue Card Sample Answer # Help Received

There are so many times that we help people and more often receive help. Help is the only way, people  believe, that we remain human. A person who cannot help others is of no use being called human. Let us today have a look at a cue card that talks about a help that you received.

Describe a time when someone helped you.
You should say:
  • Who helped you
  • When it was
  • Why s/he helped you
And describe how you felt about it.
Sample Answer One

There have been many a times when I received help and it is something so often that I wonder what would have happened had I not received the help. But, I clearly remember a day when I was helped and I felt really nice.

I had to go to my brother’s college for some work and I was not aware of how to reach there. So, the local transport dropped me at a place and I thought from there the college would be a mere km away. Thinking that I started walking down the road but after walking around an hour I could not find even a hint of his college. As I was exhausted and started asking people as to where the college is, there came a boy in his scooty and told me that the college is really far and there is no way I can reach there on my foot. He asked me to get into his scooty.

Initially, I was scared, because I had really no idea about the place and it was all jungle around. So, either ways I hopped onto his scooty and he did dropped me outside the college. There were times when I was worried but he later asked me if I wanted to go back along with him as well. Although, I refused that help, I was really happy and felt grateful for his help. He did knew me and just like others he could have behaved strangely but he left me to my destination and in no ways sounded someone who wanted any evil out of me.

It was a true pure help and I wished him all the best for his life.

Sample Answer Two

There are so many times that I get help but the one time I remember getting help was when I was in eighth grade. I had decided to participate in our school annual festival and was among the seven girls who were part of the dance team. We used to practice a lot and everything but I was one of the weakest. There were times when it took me days to get  the step right and then there were days when I would just even after trying so much could not get the step right.

Those were some irritating days and after some time even my team members started coming in and telling that I should rather leave the group. My initial reaction was that I wont be leaving the group. I have practiced and I will do good. Although I had said that, I felt bad and I started crying in the stairs. May be my teacher came to know about it or whatever, she called me and told me that in life it is not how much you know but how much you practice to get what you want in life.

She told me that I had done a great thing and I should move on with it. After that, she started teaching me extra lesson for the dance and I was able to actually dance well than most of the girls in the school.

I remember it till now because it was for the first time, I can recall, I stood for myself. And then people did started coming in to help me. It felt great because I felt as if I am important as well and my opinion does matter. It has helped me a great deal to do things in life the way I do them now.

IELTS Cue Card Sample Answer # Journey You Went

Describe a journey you went on –
You must say –
– Where did you go on your journey?
– Why did you got to this particular place?
– What did you do and with whom?
and describe why you enjoyed your journey? Or if not why?

I like visiting to random places without much information and planning and figure out things for myself. One such trip that I took with my father was a journey to Nainital.

The journey was one of the best I had taken in several years and it happened around three years back. We all were at our maternal grand parents house and my uncle came and invited me, my brother and my cousin brother to go to Almora, that is the place where my paternal grand-parents lived. I was very much excited about the trip and had my bag packed and was about to leave when my mother objected, saying I can’t go.

I felt very bad and ended up crying that day. The next day my father came to me and said that he wanted to go to market to buy things and he wants me to come along. To my surprise instead of going to the market, we went on to the road that took us to Nainital, a hill station in India. It was a fantastic road with great weather. The best part was we were travelling on a scooty on hills, so we couldn’t go beyond 20 km/hr. Going smoothly and slowly, my father told me about his school days, he showed me the place he visited as a child and the first place he worked at. The journey was like a father telling his experiences to his daughter while driving a scooty in the hills and eating corn.

After about 2 hours, we reached Nainital, and that was really special, because me and my father were doing boating for the first time and that to together. It was Nainital and all of the hills were surrounding us, there was this beautiful voice of birds and ducks. He told me about how the place used to be and how it has changed. So, for me it was a very emotional and exciting trip.

On reaching home, everyone was like you just went for an hour and it is now ten hours. We all laughed and it is still the most memorable trip that I had.
