SAMPLE ANSWER

Toys play an integral role in the formative years of all children. They help in the development of the brain and also enhance the motor skills. I loved playing with toys when I was a child. In fact, I had a room full of toys where I spent most of my time after returning from school.

One of my favourite toys was a Barbie Doll. It was gifted to me by my parents on my 6th birthday. I vividly remember, it was packed in a beautiful pink box when my parents gave it to me. The box had ‘Birthday Pink Barbie” written on top of it. When I opened the box I saw a very pretty Barbie Doll wearing a pink gown, matching shoes and few additional dresses with a comb and makeup kit. I fell in love with it the moment I saw it.

Since that time the Barbie became my constant companion. I’d play with it every day after returning from school. I loved to change its dress and comb its hair. I treated the doll as my best friend and used to have conversations with it and share my daily school activities with my doll. In fact, during holidays I’d pretend to be a teacher and teach the doll as a student for hours together. Imitating the dialogues of my school teacher was full of fun. Taking the doll to bed and narrating bedtime stories was a daily routine.

This doll remained my favourite toy for several years. It is still with me as a memorabilia.

SAMPLE ANSWER TWO-

Gifting toys to children is one of the common mores in society. Toys consist of the most playable items for children. Children just love to upkeep a complete shelf or drawer full of toys of different kinds. They generally receive these toys on special occasions although feature toys are given otherwise also, on a child’s insistence. When I turned 6 on my birthday, I received many gifts on that day from family and friends. Later that day, I silently creeped into my room to calm my curiosity about new gifts. I started unpacking every item, when eyes stood fixed on a toy, half wrapped in the shine.

I, at once, jumped to the living room and with a broad glee on my face, questioned in a loud shout, that who has brought my favourite gift to me. To this, my mother smiled back and informed me that it was my father who knew my likes very well and brought this specially for my day. I looked at my father and recited a hymning thank you.

Well, it was a remote controlled car. It used to be a sensation for children in those times, when imports from china was very timid and remote car was considered as an electronic toys masterpiece. My friend already had one such car at his home, so, whenever I used to visit his place, I had some occasional trips with that high speed and advanced controls. But, I always lingered on my desire to have one of my own and drive whenever, wherever I want. Once, I even asked my father to bring one remote car for me.

That was few months back. I was happy that my father remembered it on my birthday. I was feeling the freedom of fiddling with my own car. Also, since I knew the controls already, I was now experimenting with different terrains and exhibiting some amusing stunts. I was feeling very exalted back then.

Sample answer: By the time I was 10, I could visibly see the cutback in my toys collections and moreover, I started indulging in different activities like outdoor games, bicycle rides and so on, which obviously took me a little away from my toys. Therefore, although I kept on searching for a toy till my last unwrapment on my birthday, but I didn’t really feel disappointed in any sense.

Q. 4 Why do you think children like toys so much?

IELTS BAND7 Cue card Talk about a situation when you had to wait

Sample Answer:

Nobody likes to wait. Specially in these modern times, people have lost their patience because of the fast-moving technical era. In today’s world, everything is fast and quick. Be it the speedy delivery of food that we order on Swiggy and Zomato or ordering items on Blinkit. Even I am such a person who does not like to wait. However, there was a situation where I had to wait for a long time, and today I would like to discuss it. So this is a recent incident when my younger brother was appearing for his competitive examinations. He recently did his schooling, and he enrolled for a competitive exam, which is NEET. This exam happened in the month of August this year, and I went along with him to the examination center. The whole situation was quite stressful, and my brother was nervous for his exam. On our way, I was trying to calm him down. As soon as we reached the examination center, he went inside and started doing all the preparation procedures. I could see him standing in the queue, and I was waiting outside on a bench under a tree. Within 15 minutes, the whole queue had cleared up, and my brother went inside the examination hall, and I lost his sight. Now I had to wait for him till he completed his paper. His exam was for three long hours, and it was a hot, sunny day. For the first hour, I was just watching reels on my mobile phone, and the time passed easily, but soon my phone’s battery went low, and I had to keep my phone aside. It was now that I realized that it would get difficult for me to pass the time for the next two hours. The climate was getting more hot, and I was thirsty, so I walked out of the examination center to find a shop where I could buy a chilled water bottle. I couldn’t find any shops nearby, but luckily I saw a cafe. So I went to this cafe, and it had a very cozy corner where I sat and ordered some coolers and a sandwich for myself. I finished eating. I saw There was a magazine in this cafe, so I picked it up and started reading it. Soon I realized an hour had already passed. It was a great relief for me after eating and reading, and I went back to the examination center and started waiting on the same bench, but this last or seemed the most difficult to pass. The sun was on my head, and I was sweating. I realized that coming back to the examination center was a bad idea and I should have stayed at the cafe itself. After 10–15 minutes, I saw four little kids approaching the tree under which I was sitting. These kids came there to play, and I asked them if I could join. They were very happy to have my company, and we played for the rest of the time. This was the best thing that I did that day. It was very relaxing to play with the kids, and I relived my childhood. While playing, I suddenly heard the bell ringing, and it was the alarm about the examination’s ending. I waited for another five minutes for my brother to come out, and I was really happy to see him and hear that his exam really went well. So this was the longest time I had to wait however it was not that boring as I thought it would be.

Feel free to call for suggestions and queries.

IELTS CUE CARD #EVENT WHEN YOU WERE CONGRATULATED

IELTS Cue Card #event when you were congratulated

Describe an occasion or event when you were congratulated.
You should say:

  • what was the occasion
  • when was it
  • who congratulated you and why

and explain how did this make you feel.

IELTS CUE CARD #EVENT WHEN YOU WERE CONGRATULATED

Sample Answer :

It’s a common gesture of appreciation that one receives on doing something good and worthy. We get appreciations for the good things we do for others or for our great achievements or personal excellence. One similar occasion when I was congratulated was when my debate team won the district/ county level championship.
It was 2012 and I was in my 10th grade. I was an influential member of my school debate team and had participated in a lot of different solo and team debate competitions. The yearly inter-school division/ county level championship was considered to be the most amazing and prestigious tournament and the in those days the finals was broadcasted on local TV channels as well as on the radio and on the internet.
Our school had a very bad past history as it was not able to win the championship before 2012. They had their last victory in the 90’s and everyone was waiting to hear the winning bells again. Though some of the debate teams participated till the semi-finals of the championship but never made it to the finale.
That year I was heading the debate team and to everyone’s great astonishment, we won the finals. Most of the people of our city watched the finals on TV and were super excited, happy and proud to see me on air and it was an added attraction that we won.
The school arranged an assembly specifically to congratulate us for our achievement and I found more than five hundred students, their guardians and local people who were eagerly waiting for us and were present there to join us in this victory. I was so proud about the whole team and excited about the occasion and when all those people started congratulating me, I felt like I was flying above the sky and my happiness knew no leaps and bounds.
Later I received many congratulations and appreciations as I grew up in my life but none of them mattered as that one occasion. We walked through the gushing crowd towards the stage of the auditorium and people stood up, greeted us and  clapped their hands. Lot of teachers, local political leaders, upper-level government employees and renowned personalities were also present there. The ceremony went on for almost 3 hours and we got many gifts and bouquets as well. Ill always remember that moment.(395 Words)

The idea of popularity still remains the same but today people evaluate success in terms of money and material possessions acquired.

Q3. Why are some celebrities and movie stars more successful then others ?
Ans Some celebrities are famous because the generation today is bias and they prefer knowing or watching only those  certain celebrities who are more popular and they don’t really prefer quality. IELTS Cue Card Sample Answer # Historical Event

Describe an important historical event in your country.

You should say :

  • when it happened
  • what is its significance
  • what were the important people involved in it

Also, say why is it important to the history of your country.

India is the largest democracy in the world and the largest country in South East Asia. But,  India has not been democratic since time immemorial. We were under the rule of British for almost 200 years and it was after a long freedom fight that India became independent. In the midnight of 15 August 1947, when the world was asleep, India woke up to a new freedom, with the first Prime Minister as Jawaharlal Nehru.

But, what was the most happy moment for the entire country, required so much of effort and so may people becoming martyrs. No matter, how many people we say responsible for our freedom, I believe the first hammer that was struck to Britishers was by Rani Laxmi Bai in 1857. The revolt of 1857 was the first time that the entire India united against the British Rule. The revolt started from Meerut where some sepoys started a rebellion against the Britishers and soon it spread out to the different parts of the country, involving Rani Laxmi Bai, Mangal Pandey, Birjis Qadr,Babu Kunwar Singh and many more.

There was no one particular reason for the rebellion but many of them. Britishers had for a long time tried to rule the country indirectly, taking away all the resources of the country and weakening the internal power of the country, not allowing the rulers to rule. Although, at that time, India was being ruled by different forces, when the rebellion took place, the entire country went to Bahadur Shah Jafar.

Although, India lost that battle, but Britishers realized that if they want to rule the country, they need to rule from Delhi and Indians realized that they too can fight against Britishers. It was after this battle that several groups started coming in to fight against Britishers for freedom, which we definitely got in 1947.

What do you think we can learn by studying the events of the past?

We learn from our mistakes, and just like individuals learn from the mistakes made by themselves or by others, we as entire society can learn from the mistakes that we have made in the past. Also, there are things that we can repeat that were good in history. To be able to repeat and prevent it is very important to know the history and knowing history is not about knowing the names and characters but about understanding the entire flow of data.

What important events do you think might take place in the future?

With respect to my country, I believe there are certain events that are bound to happen in the future. One of them is the strengthening of women in our country. There is a certain degree of respect and love given to women in our country but there are certain areas in which we lack in terms of equality. I believe that in future there will be more of woman power coming up. Also, it is very likely possible that the matter of Kashmir will be solved in the future. It is high time that India and Pakistan are fighting over the case of Kashmir, causing distress to both Kashmir, Pakistan and India. I hope and believe that the decision will be made very soon.

Do you think internet is a good place to learn about history?

Definitely yes. For the initial startup, I do believe that internet is a great place to learn about history. You can learn from different sources, for free and figure out if you are really interested in learning about history. When that happens, one can very easily go for a formal course. Even though, if people are not interested in going for formal courses, one can learn about it from different websites and you tube and so much more.
